If I need something, this Ace Hardware has it. If I pay two extra dollars for the same item available at Home Depot, it is worth it to me not to have to drive to Bellingham. I have never gone to the store and walked away empty handed. The store had what I needed. Good service as well. I have had many locks keyed here and they do a great job. Their selection includes quality brands and reasonable prices so I really like this ACE Hardware store in Lynden. read more

I went into Ace Hardware on Oct 23 around 6pm. The young men working were great, very helpful. Made sure I found what I needed, they get 5 stars. Then I went up to the counter where a young woman was working,,, haaaaa, as the cashier. She was eating, kept putting food in her face as she rang up my purchase. She was rude, unfriendly. Un fortunately her behavior was so bad, that is the last time for this ACE hardware. If it wasn't for the young guys, this would be a 1 star rating. The young men get a 5 star, she gets a no star. If she wanted to go home that bad, quite and walk out! Don't be a 1 star employee in a 5 star work force, it reflects poorly on your fellow employees, and reflects even worse on you. OMG, I could not imagine lazier and poorer customer service by all 3 "staff" than what I encountered there. Tried to work with two employees first, who were thoroughly unhelpful. Then, I tried to seek the attention of the "manager," and he was the worst of all, and could not demonstrate even a basic capability to deal with me as a customer. No wonder the rest of the staff performs so poorly. I came to try and support a local smaller business, but they clearly do not deserve it. I'll never make that mistake again, and surely will not return. I can't imagine how businesses like this will survive against the bigger players when they perform so poorly on customer service, don't seem to care, while the store has limited selection on what I need, no price advantage, and a very poor value overall. My third trip to this store since moving here 2 months ago, and I encountered the same unfriendly, disinterested attitude of the staff. Inventory (of fasteners) was disorganized and spotty, and I was unable to obtain all that I needed. The employees did not offer to help and when asked made a very half-hearted effort. I was obviously an inconvenience to them. Shopping locally is important to me, but with other options available close by, and a truly great hardware sales company in Bellingham there is no need for me to go back here. read more

I am giving this store a 1 star because "Steve" has the most horrible customer service I have ever been serviced with! I bought a display faucet for 8$ no big deal but it wasn't functional due to duct tape on the part that was broken! I didn't know came back in offered to buy the price additionally to the faucet or just swap it for one that worked. Steve tried to belittle my wife and I about how is sold as is all while the other guy was very understanding and totally ok with swapping it or just giving the price to us. Steve continually cut us off while trying to talk! I would not recommend this place until they fix there customer service. Just use true value right next door. I always try to support small local merchants. I stopped by to look at lawnmowers and decided to buy it. I had to run another errand before picking it up and asked if they would hold it. Came by an hour later and it was parked by the cashier along with a gas can in case I needed it. They even loaded it in my car. Great service and prices. read more

My husband and I were very unsatisfied with the customer service we received from an employee on 1/4/2020. They were having a clearance sale and we bought a bathroom sink faucet. The first employee told us they were once floor models, and how they were such a great deal! Little did we know they were for sale as scrap parts basically. As new home owners how would we know that!?! We took it home to find out it had a defective piece. My husband and I took the faucet back immediately to try and either switch out the defective piece only or buy a new piece for it. We were very rudely attacked by an employee of the name Steve. He began talking down to us saying "well you only paid 8.99, these things cost like $100". We tried to explain that cost was not the point it was that they had something for sale that wasn't fully functional and there were no signs to inform us of that. We were never made aware that it wouldn't be functional just because it was a former floor model! He tried to say all sales were final which once again no sign on the rack stated that. When my husband told him that he didn't like his attitude toward the situation that we didn't want a refund we just needed the faucet to work, he told my husband " Well I don't like your attitude with a raised tone", wow Steve, that's sure the way to NOT get us back into the store! How does that jingle go again? "Ace is the place with the helpful hardware folks"......Yeah, its not if Steve is there! He will make sure you feel like your stupid and like your trying to cheat someone. We have no issues going around the back side of the parking lot to True Value now or making the trip into Bellingham where the employees at either Lowes or Home Depot are never annoyed with us! read more
