This is a Taverna that should earn a Michelin Star as it is by far the best Greek place anywhar. A total comfy* and cozy charmer from the warm greeting at the Hostee Desk to the art work above the Wainscoting probably graciously left behind by the last Bistro occupant. Muted Earth tones, muted Grecian music loop all add to the vibe and a lovely evening dining out. There is a street side Patio so you can watch the Real Housewives of B. H. wiggling, jiggling and giggling, cell phones on vox alto as they sashay by. Hmm...how can that Tube Top function as a skirt and still stay up and on? Ushered to the perfect Two Top It was perfect *until I made a nest in a hopelessly uncomfortable wooden chair with a ridge around the seat guaranteed to eliminate any feeling in your butt by the time your delicious Cocktail arrives. The Bar: Full, complete and replete with Greek Spirits (Ouzo, Retsina and beyond), Greek Wines along with the usual suspects. The wine list is unusual, interesting and fairly priced My Vromiki Martini featured Kastra Elion Greek Vodka, Artisanal Greek Olive Brine, with two fat Greek Olives stuffed with Blue Cheese. No sharp edges on this icy libation. Soft as a lover's kiss and smooth as the glass it comes in. The Staff: Staffakopita. Sunshine (aka Elias) was in his element curating a wonderful dinner. He was pleasant, helpful and attentive in addition to having an unfettered (make that unFeta'd) knowledge of the large ambitious menu. Who's here? At 5:00 PM just me, the Hostee and a Bartender. At 7:30 the joint was jumpin'. Thankfully, no hail of dinner plates against the wall over the din of inebriants yelling "Opa". This spot is adult and sophisticated. A home for Ex-pats raising their glasses as if they were Onassis. It attracts friendly folk and makes for a convivial experience. The Food: The menu is serious and the kitchen up to the task demanded by Adephgia, the Mythological Goddess of over eating. Oh my, what to order? Here comes the Sunshine. Be advised, Feta Cheese shows up in many of the dishes. Greeks put it in everything including but not limited to Toothpaste, Tanning Lotion, Shaving Cream, and Soap and if those items are as tasty as all dishes I had with Feta here I'd eat that too. Spiritiki Salad had Whole Leaf Baby Gem Leaves stacked up like a new construction project. Add Cherry Tomatoes, Roasted Red Bell Pepper Strips, Barrel Aged Aged Feta, Golden Greek Pepper swaddled with a ladle of Feta Vinaigrette. What a great way to begin the culinary odyssey. Some Rustic Warm Sourdough Bread (with Feta Spread) appeared and made a fine sop for everything left behind which won't be much despite the portions which would please Hercules. Kalokithokeftedes was actually Zucchini Fritters which were Falafel-esque. Crispy little fritter critters that were greaseless, Herbal Cakes with Pickled Red Onions, Radish Coins, Dill, and Tzatziki and, yup, you guessed it, Feta. No crumb left behind from this dish. Brizola was a Medium-Rare 14oz NY Prime Steak sliced thick without a speck of fat or mystery chew. A nice knob of Tirokafteri (Spicy Feta Spread) was a welcome addition. If you're not on a strict Mediterranean Diet since your last arterial By-pass this is way too good to pass up. I thought Bzizola was like Breciole (Italian) or Matambre (Argentine) stuffed Beef with the meat folded over itself. The Brizola here is terrific and great in your Machaca in the morning. Ochi! Before you ask for take home boxes mop up all the juices with the heel of your Bread or your shirt tail. "Sunshine, what's the best Fish tonight?" "Fagri" he shot back. "It's White Snapper only found in Greek waters. I show you the head and tail and then carve to the filets in front of you". Served with Lemon, Capers so as not to overwhelm the delicate fish, this was brilliant. Spanokorizo was a great Side Dish. Sauteed Spinach, Rice, Green Onion Slivers, Lemon, Olive Oil, and all together now...Feta. Add that to breakfast if you don't clean your plate. Greek Shakshuka, thavmacios. (Wonderful). Dessert anyone? "Sunshine, any suggestions?" "Yes, of course, no to the Baklava. You can get that at any 7-11 in Tehranegles these days. Have the Golaktabouriko". "The whatiko?" "Semolina Custard wrapped in Phyllo with a drizzle of Honey." It was sweetish but not close to cloying. And not a hint of Feta. This was truly special. Louka-ing for a grand evening out at a fair price with great food? You've found it. Wanna do it Greek style? Don't turn your back on Louka.

One of those nights walking down Canon after work and wanted to try something new. My bf had already been to Louká once and suggested we go for me to try. Food was good. Fresh, healthy, Mediterranean menu. Service was excellent. Restaurant is small and intimate, which is how we like it.

Louká is one of those challenging restaurants to review because so much of it is wonderful and done tastefully yet there are crucial misses in the most important of things one reviews... weighing it all against the cost of a full meal there, the score is impacted. Let me explain... You walk in and are greeted, not only by a handsome, elderly maitre d in a well tailored suit but you are immediately made aware of the restaurant's warm and beautiful decor... the bar, the booths, what with their tasteful fabrics employed in their construction, the tasteful art hung in a salon style, the lighting and floral arrangements-- it all works and works very well, and maybe to some detriment of the restaurant because the careful execution therein supersedes that of the main entrees. Every main entree ordered at our table, from the lamb chops to the shrimp to the chicken, elicited some form of recommendation as to how it could be better by the patron it was intended for. I for one had the lamb chops and for $58, you only get three and they were quality meat, but somewhat lacking in the oomph flavors I was expecting. I felt they could use a little more seasoning and there should have been at least four of them... these are the kind of grumblings I heard throughout our fair host's birthday dinner. Mains garner a 3/5 by me. Now, as to the mezzes appetizers and salads, these were all EXCELLENT! I truly appreciated the quality of the vegetables and all the Greek plays on spiced eggplant baba ghanoush and hummus etc. Of note are the fried zucchini chips with dipping tzatziki sauce. Delicious stuff, beautifully arranged. So 5/5 here even if the portions of some left something to be desired. I'd return for these and a martini and sit at the bar, which features excellent liquors but is a true rape, price-wise... I mean, a pour of Weller Special Reserve is $65!?! That is a bottle that can be found in stores for $45. The Weller Antique 107 proof was something like $115 a pour and I pick up bottles of it for less than that... scandalous. So I find myself a bit conflicted when tasked to ascribe an overall rating to Louká as the stage was set for such a show but when the curtain rose? I was underwhelmed by the main attraction entrees. The service on the floor was excellent but the servicing in the kitchen? Could use a tune-up. It truly could have been an off night, as some dishes seemed limited by the fact that they didn't even have the ingredients to prepare them. As such, I'm generously giving Louká 4/5 stars. Curious to know what your experience is like if you venture there... ****

Amazing restaurant, excellent customer service, beautiful ambience and delicious food. Classy date night destination, highly recommend for amazing Mediterranean food.

Absolute gem. Went here for date night and it had to be one of the coziest spots we've been to in the area. We were greeted warmly from beginning to end which made our entire experience magical. Our waitress was great with her recommendations and really helped us pick the perfect entrees. I would highly recommend the spicy feta dip. It is out of this world mind blowing. The mastika was delicious to help wash down our course. The ingredients are fresh and you can taste the love in every bite.

Their version of an espresso martini. Did not disappoint.

Honestly, I am still dreaming of their dessert from last night. Bougatsa. . We were already filled to the brim due to the excellent meal of sea bass, Greek salad, halloumi, langostinos and revithosalata (chickpea puree) but my friend told me we had to get this dessert. And thank god we did. The food here is so on point and delicious with excellent and attentive service but not getting that dessert would have been a tragedy.

Service is prompt and without fuss. Pricing is fair, considering the gigantic portions. The dishes are easily shareable (if you are inclined to do so). One of the great things about going in a group is you can try a variety. Here's the scoop. Keftedes- nicely cooked. Grilled veggies - was supposed to be a mixture of eggplant, zucchini, onions, and peppers. This was predominately eggplant (which suited me just fine). Have a feeling it's how it's scooped on the plate when serving. Solid flavor and a huge portion. Souvlaki - asked for one pork and one chicken skewer to try them both. Both winners. Nicely grilled exterior and still juicy. The tzatziki was bright, creamy and lightly garlicky. Chopped onions, tomatoes, lettuce, and lemon wedges are also provided with pita if you feel like making little sandwiches. I prefer to use the pita to sop up the sauces. Bifteki- this was THE dish, hands down. The bifteki were cooked perfectly- grilled outside, tender and juicy inside. Seasoning was simple but flawless. I substituted the fries (which were good - I nabbed some from another plate) but the lemon potatoes stole the show. Incredible flavor. I did not want this dish to end, and will probably order it every time I visit. (If only I could convince someone to order the octopus and the moussaka. I have to try them but this portion is already huge.) Another thing I will order next time is a bottle of Malamatina. This retsina is so difficult to find in the US but is mind blowing when served icy cold. Yes. I said next time. This restaurant will be on permanent rotation when I'm in town.

Only negative for us was feeling some pressure to upgrade the sides to our dishes (options to upgrade the salad and rice); we upgraded the rice and didn't necessarily enjoy the upgraded rice with cranberries and think the base options may have been preferable. Really enjoyed the included house salad! If you may know you have a preference for one of the upgrades it may be nice to have the options, otherwise, I would not hesitate to stick with the base which is delicious.

Honestly, I didn't even want to write this review, but after spending a couple of hours thinking…read moreabout it, I felt like I had to. To those writing all the good reviews, I genuinely have one question: have you actually had good Persian food before? Have you ever been to Raffi's? We drove all the way from Orange County because someone recommended this place. We usually just go to Raffi's, but I thought, "let's give this place a shot." Unfortunately, that was a mistake. First, I want to be clear: the staff were great, friendly and attentive. This review has nothing to do with them. It's strictly about the food. 3 Stew Tahdig ($17): The tahdig was extremely thick and hard. Even with the stew on top, it was basically inedible. Mast-o-Moosir (Shallot Yogurt): Served in a very small portion and was extremely watery. You could clearly taste raw shallots instead of a smooth blend. This dish should be made with thick yogurt (mast-e chekideh), not something runny. Main Courses: * Soltani ($39) * Naderi Soltani ($42) Honestly, we couldn't even tell the difference between the two, they seemed identical. We asked for well-done, but everything came medium or even undercooked. The barg kebab (filet mignon) was the worst part, it was tough, rubbery, and almost impossible to cut. It genuinely felt like chewing plastic. Not sure what kind of meat was used, but it definitely wasn't good quality. Salad Issue: The server asked which salad we wanted and mentioned Shirazi, Greek, etc. I chose Greek. When the bill came, we were charged an extra $2 for it, which was never mentioned. That should have been clearly communicated. Also, the bowl the salad was served in was chipped and broken in multiple spots--not a great presentation at all. Rice: The rice was poorly cooked and had barely any saffron (maybe 5% at most). Even another table nearby complained about the rice. Drink - Sekanjebin ($10): This is supposed to be a traditional Persian drink, but this tasted like a mix of cheap syrup. It did not resemble authentic sekanjebin at all. Appetizer - Marinated Olives (Zeytoon Parvardeh): The olives were unusually large and overpowering. This dish should be balanced, you're supposed to taste the walnut, pomegranate, and herbs, not just big olives. At this point, it made sense why the restaurant was almost empty on a Sunday lunchtime, maybe 4-5 tables total. To be completely honest, the food upset our stomachs to the point where we had to take Pepto-Bismol afterward. Overall, the food quality was very disappointing, and we will not be coming back. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic or well-made Persian food. Again, no issues with the staff, they were great. The problem is entirely with the food.
