I had the opportunity to work with Perse Restaurant before their opening, helping them with photography and videography. As you can imagine, after the shoot we got to try the food, and even then (some of it slightly cold), it was honestly really impressive. After they opened, I recommended the place to some friends and family. A few had mixed opinions, so I decided to come back myself after a couple of months to experience it as a regular guest. I'm really glad I did, everything was noticeably better. The food was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The quality, taste, and presentation were all on point. The drinks were also amazing. What stood out the most was the service, the staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The ambiance and design of the space also add a really nice touch to the overall experience. I was so excited to try this new local spot, and I will say I am Persian so my standards might be a bit higher. The ambiance was lovely, but everything else left a lot more to be desired. The servers spilled a vase on our table twice and didn't even bring a new napkin, when I used mine to help. They also knew nothing about the wine which is odd. I understand GenZ doesn't drink but they should be informed. The portions are VERY small for the price perhaps because the fine dining concept, but the dishes didn't warrant that all. We literally spent $200 and went out for a second dinner an hour later. The shirazi salad was half onions and a must pass. The Tachin is made like Italian Arancini ball, which is interesting. But one small rice ball for $20? Not much of a rice dish. The eggplant had great flavor and was my favorite. The chicken skewers were very dry. This isn't your ordinary kebab house. For that type of Persian food you have plenty of other options close by. I would absolutely go back for the food and hope that they sort out service delays asap. That is the only reason I am giving it a 4 instead of 5. We ordered the dessert platter and it was so delayed that we ended up canceling the order. I arrived very hungry so I ordered more appetizers than I usually do and this was the best choice I made that night. The hummus and Persian fries were unique, exceptional, and massive serving sizes. Relatively to these, the entrees were kind of disappointing. The koobideh kebab came with only 1 skewer despite every other Persian restaurant around serving 2 for that price or less. The cherry rice and kebab were also light on flavor. I would go back to explore more of the menu, and definitely keep getting the appetizers. read more

And the sauces overall... wow. So tasty that we were basically using them on everything like it was our job. The Food: Persian Cuisine with a Touch of French "Oh Là Là" And then the food came... and wow. This is Persian food done with a level of care and elegance that feels almost Michelin-inspired. Honestly, Cyrus the Great and Michelin would both be proud. It's classic Persian flavor, but elevated -- like Persian cuisine got dressed up for a night out in Brentwood. We ordered: * Fesenjoon -- rich, perfectly balanced, and deeply flavorful * Lamb chops -- tender, juicy, and cooked beautifully * Tahchin with chicken -- golden, crispy, and absolutely addictive * Smoky basmati rice -- fragrant and unforgettable Everything had this subtle, elegant touch of pomegranate throughout that made it feel special without being overwhelming. Having only been to Iran 4-5 times in my youth. There was a lot to hope for in Perse, and I found exactly that. The fusion is on such a level of attention to detail that when I took a bite of the Brussel sprouts even that reminded me of Persian food, and it was delicious! The interior design is a beautiful modern and classic blend of architecture, with Persian sculptures on the walls. The waiters were kind, although they were new since this place has only been open a few months, they were amazing. The food is expensive but certainly worth the price, and the amount of mocktails (beautifully decorated) that are served makes it a great place to bring your children as well. They have such amazing choices of Persian inspired fine dine cuisine, great selection of starters and main dishes. My ultimate favorite dish was the lamb chops medium rare, very delicious! The food was very good (though the koobideh needed more seasoning), and the lunch special was great, BUT we had an 11am reservation, so they knew we were coming, and there was still no server on site when we arrived, so we had to wait. We were also given a drink menu but then were told there was no bartender so we could get any of the sharbats, etc. The server was lovely when she did arrive, and they did try to make up for their mistakes by giving us free food and a free drink which is definitely the right thing to do. I know they are very new, so I hope that they have worked out the kinks for future customers. read more

The dishes were bland, poorly executed, and tasted like they'd been rushed out of the kitchen with little care. Staff seemed inattentive and uninterested, and we waited far too long for food that simply wasn't worth it. Came here for Mother's Day brunch with my mom, sister, my nephew, and my brother. Made the reservation for 2 pm and the service was amazing. Everyone was really nice and there's nothing negative to say about service. The only real negative to this was just the meal. I was expecting to get a lunch menu but I was handed a brunch menu that they started literally TODAY, Mother's Day. I was fine with it until I saw how little there was on the menu. Nothing necessarily authentic besides some omelettes and noon paneer. I'm not mad, just kinda disappointed. I wouldn't expect a restaurant to start a new menu on a holiday so that was the big let down. But at the end of the day we managed around it and the food was good, it was just very limited. Ate at Perse last night. Where to start. The restaurant itself is a beautiful space. Very tastefully done. The food...we started with the barbari bread and butter. Best butter I have ever tasted. You must try the fries..different than your average fries. I am not a big fan of brussel sprouts, I had five of them, they were that good. Next was the lollipop lamb chops. The sauce that came with the chops was the highlight of the evening. Dipped everything in sight with that sauce.Then on to chicken kabobs and vegan fesenjoon. Terrific. We had the saffron ice cream for dessert. Everyone of those dishes hit the mark. The wait staff was very attentive without over doing it. The flavors were so unique and balanced, we'd honestly never tried cocktails like that before. The vibe and the decor were just as impressive. You can tell they've thought through every detail, and it creates a warm, refined atmosphere that feels special without trying too hard. And then the food: unbelievable. The torsh filet mignon was outstanding, and the fresh Persian bread (barbari) was on another level. It was more than just a meal, it turned into a memory. I still can't forget those flavors. Second time at Perse. The first time we wrote a 5-star review but we wanted to come back to see if they remained consistent. This time was even better. Was excited about this new place but it disappoints on so many levels. First, let's start with the name. Their website claims they named the restaurant "Perse" because "Perse" is the French word for Persia. Um okay, but "Persia" comes from the Greek word "Persis" so why are we using a French translation of a Greek word that describes the Persian Empire? The answer leads me to the next point... They refer to their restaurant as "refined" Persian food. Persian food has thousands of years of culinary tradition, with complex flavors, techniques, and regional specialties. Calling it "refined" suggests that Persian food needs "upgrading" to be acceptable or luxurious, which undervalues its historic richness. It is also a Western take of "elevating" ethnic cuisine to fit fine-dining stereotypes, which is patronizing to say the least. "Refined" frames this ancient culture as a novelty or luxury for Western consumption, rather than something naturally worthy in its own right. This type of marketing is aimed to fit Western expectations, erasing its authentic social and cultural context. Persian food does not need refining, certainly not by a new restaurant in a strip mall that is practically vacant. Finally, the food. Underwhelming. Their own take on what Persian food should be. Stews are $50+ and bland. For fish they have branzino, which is not a traditional dish, rather than white fish or sturgeon. I'm sure Alexander the Great ate branzino, but only when he was in Macedonia. Service is chaotic and lacking. Unfortunately, this is yet another attempt to make quick money in a short amount of time which has become the business model in LA. New restaurants do not last here and they certainly don't last in the Brentwood Gardens. That does not concern investors as they make their money in the first 6 months and don't care about longevity. What this does is degrade the character of Los Angeles as we no longer have as many family owned neighborhood hangouts that have been around for decades and generations. One day there is a grand opening and the next is a "for lease" sign. read more

The Persian fries were such a fun twist on classic truffle fries -- flavorful and elevated with a Persian flair that makes them stand out. I do wish they were just a little more crispy, but the flavor was still delicious and unique. The Wagyu Chengeh Kabob was truly mouthwatering. Perfectly seasoned chunks of premium wagyu beef, incredibly tender, and grilled to perfection. It had that beautiful char on the outside while remaining buttery and melt-in-your-mouth inside. The richness of the wagyu paired with the traditional Persian preparation made it feel both authentic and elevated. Honestly one of the best kabobs I've had. To finish, we had the cream puff -- light, airy, and not overly sweet. The perfect dessert to end the meal. Also, as someone with a nut allergy, I have to mention how impressed I was. The chef was able to thoughtfully modify dishes so I could enjoy them safely, which made me feel so comfortable dining there.
