I've been seeing Dr. Ho regularly for about two years as my primary care physician for an ongoing medical treatment that requires consistent monitoring and follow-up. Over that time, my blood work and treatment results were generally positive, and from a clinical standpoint things were going well. That said, there were a few issues that became frustrating over time. Even when visits were only to review routine lab results, Dr. Ho refused to do phone or virtual appointments. I often waited 30+ minutes in the lobby, drove through traffic both ways, and then had a 10-15 minute conversation that easily could have been handled remotely. The bigger problem came recently when my insurance changed from UnitedHealthcare to Cigna after more than seven years. I proactively called the office to update my information and was told they do not accept Cigna. No real explanation was given beyond "we're not set up with them." I then offered to pay cash and handle reimbursement myself through my insurance, which would have required no extra work from their office. That was also declined, simply because I technically have insurance -- insurance they don't accept. At that point it became clear the office no longer wanted me as a patient. For someone in the middle of long-term treatment, this was extremely frustrating and disruptive. Between the rigid appointment policies and the refusal to work with either my new insurance or a self-pay option, I've decided to find a new primary care doctor. What could be more frustrating than feeling unheard or unsupported by your own doctor--especially when you're trying to advocate for your health? After my original primary care doctor opted out of the medical group associated with my insurance, I decided to find a new PCP. I chose Dr. Ho based on many positive reviews and was hopeful I'd receive attentive and thoughtful care. Unfortunately, that hasn't been my experience. I scheduled my annual checkup, and the appointment was relatively easy to make--easier than with my previous doctor. During the visit, Dr. Ho took time to go over my family medical history and current concerns, spending nearly an hour explaining various medical terms. While thorough, it felt more like he was showcasing his medical knowledge rather than truly listening or showing empathy. I mentioned a specific concern--a small lump near my uterus--and requested an ultrasound. Dr. Ho dismissed it at first, saying if there were a tumor or cyst, I would not be able to feel it clearly from my skin. Thankfully, he still agreed to send me for an ultrasound and gave me a referral to an OBGYN for further evaluation. However, things quickly went downhill from there. The ultrasound referral had my last name spelled incorrectly. I'm still unsure whether that error came from Dr. Ho's office or the medical group. I also never received the referral letter to the OBGYN. When I called the office multiple times to follow up, the front desk staff was impatient and quick to blame the medical group for the name mix-up and the missing referral. I contacted the medical group myself--they corrected my name but told me Dr. Ho's office never submitted the OBGYN referral. I decided to move forward with the ultrasound anyway. That's when things got even more frustrating. The ultrasound technician informed me the referral was only for an abdominal ultrasound, not a pelvic/uterine one. As a non-native English speaker, I had assumed the referral covered the area I was concerned about. Instead, I ended up with a scan of everything except what I asked for. When I called Dr. Ho's office to clarify, the staff insisted that the abdominal ultrasound was "sufficient" and told me to speak to the OBGYN about uterine concerns--again, the referral I never got. After more back and forth, they said they'd resubmit the referral. Two weeks later, I still hadn't received anything, but I was able to get the referral number from the medical group. When I finally tried to book an appointment with the OBGYN, their office told me the referral was only for a pap smear, not for evaluating my actual concerns. On the same day, Dr. Ho's office called to discuss my ultrasound results. I asked again about the proper referral, and the front desk staff responded dismissively, saying it was the OBGYN's responsibility now--or that I should just come in to talk to Dr. Ho again. At this point, I'd had enough. I shouldn't have to fight this hard for basic coordination of care. I don't feel heard, cared for, or respected--not by Dr. Ho, and certainly not by his staff. I've decided to switch primary doctors. No one should have to chase down referrals, correct clerical mistakes themselves, or beg for appropriate testing--especially when it comes to something as important as your reproductive health. read more

He always takes the time to listen to my health concerns and address them in a way that makes me feel like a person and not just a patient to be seen. In my experience, Dr. Louis Ho turned out to be the most unstable, disrespectful and unprofessional provider I have ever encountered in the medical field. DO NOT ENTRUST your health or your loved ones health to him. Not only is he negligent with his medical care follow ups but he is also extremely abusive in his treatment of patients when he is uncomfortable with their requests. His behavior is grotesque and I am shocked beyond belief by what just transpired in his office. It all started when I made a follow up call to the office on behalf of my elderly mother who was hit by a semi truck and is still badly injured. We needed a medical note notating her injuries and urgent referrals for additional imaging and psychotherapy. I was rudely advised by Michelle that the Dr. was never able to speak outside of an appt. I explained that the situation was very delicate but she was dismissive, rude and lacked absolute empathy for my mothers health. It appears Dr. Ho's practice doesn't care about the state of his patients when he is not being paid. Her physical therapist advised us he could not begin full treatment due to her continued swelling, pain, and numbness of her head, fingers, and toes. He advised additional imaging was needed. With that advise in mind, we stopped by the office to request an appointment to speak to Dr. Ho directly via a telehealth appointment, an email or a phone call since an in person appt wasnt available for weeks. Upon arrival, his office staff informed him of our urgent request. Staff member Kayla stated that the doctor would not schedule a virtual or phone appointment and that we could write an email to their general inbox and if the Dr. had time, he would respond. She also stated that the Dr. advised we could "go somewhere else" if we had a problem with that. I was baffled by the attitude and I could not believe the Dr. would respond this way. As I explained that we really needed communication, she rolled her eyes. The lack of respect and empathy from this medical practice is truly disgusting. As she threw a card with their general email on the counter, I suddenly heard heavy, loud, footsteps and a look of fear on Kayla's face when the front door swung open. Dr. Louis Ho slammed the door open and started screaming at me while physically imposing his large frame at me. This was done in front of his staff while he had another patient in a waiting room. He began yelling, "Why are you here?!!! Get out of here!!! This is a private practice!! I told you to leave!!! I don't have the time!! Why are you bothering my staff?!!!." I could not believe the level of aggression and abusive speech as I too was his patient. Mind you no one was yelling before him, slamming doors or asking us to leave. I advised him that i was going to start recording his verbal abuse and he ran off yelling "discharge her!!!." This Dr.'s solution was to scream and leave my mother without medical care as his ego took over his ethics. As his patient, and as an advocate for my mother's health, I have a right to request follow up and appropriate health care from her PCP without being threatened. Furthermore, as a woman, much smaller than him, this persons behavior was horrible and scary. Dr. Ho, I dont know if abuse and uncontrollable screaming is normal to you but you should know that is unacceptable, reportable behavior. You are supposed to be a professional and those type of grotesque outbursts are not indicative of someone who should be a medical provider serving the public. I suggest you acquire some professional etiquette and respect for others. Having a medical license doesn't give you a free pass to be entitled or abusive. The way you treat people matters more than any business or degree you might have. I hope you learn to be a better human because as a doctor you are awful and you and your staff are failing your patients. I hope our experience helps someone avoid an equally unsavory situation. Find a true professional that wants to care for your well being and health. Most importantly find a doctor and a medical practice that has respect for their patients. read more

Dr. Ho and his staff were phenomenal! It has been a while since I've been to such a great office where the entire team was so welcoming and worked together to give me the best care possible. I loved that I was seen on time and proper Covid precautions were made at the door to make me feel very safe. Dr. Ho was very thorough during my visit and took the time to address all of my concerns. He provided great preventative care and offered different approaches for my treatment plan that were very realistic and attainable. He's extremely knowledgable so I know that I am in great hands. What a relief to find Dr. Louis Ho and his staff. Made an appointment for 3pm, got seen at 250pm. if this was previous doctor i would have been seen at 5pm. Dr. Ho was very friendly, and for the first visit we went over my medical history. He even suggested a few restaurants nearby to start me on better eating. To my happy surprise, there are new girls in the office! And the girls that are in the office now are excellent! They're on it right away, they call you back when they say they're going to call you back and when they tell you they're going to get a hold of the doctor for you, they actually do! Great doctor and friendly staff. My friend needed an immigration physical so we came in to see Dr. Ho. I thought I needed to translate for my friend, but the doctor speaks fluent Mandarin. He was thorough and made sure we understood all the labs we needed to order and vaccines my friend needed. We even ended talking about what good food was around in the area. Dr. Ho is an amazing Doctor!! He's very passionate about the art of healing and practices evidence based medicine. He's very meticulous and detailed orientated in his differential diagnosis and when he is assessing his patients. He's up to date with medical advances and guidelines, so knowledge wise, I knew I was getting excellent care! He has a very strong educational background. One of the things I noticed about Dr. Ho is that he takes his time with his patients and gives every patient his full attention. (he will literally sit there with you until all your questions and concerns have been answered). Not only that, but he will make sure that by the time you leave the office, you get a warm sense that you have been giving the best care possible at this visit and that there was no shortcomings. He's a kind, caring, smart and a genuine individual! As someone looking for a doctor, I would highly recommend him! He also takes on medical students/PA a this clinic, so he's a clinical faculty for multiple medical schools! He's a proven educator, mentor, leader and a very competent physician. Today was my first time seeing Dr. Ho. The only word I can use to describe Dr. Ho is "excellent". I have never seen a doctor that cares about patients this much. I have chronic abdominal pain. It usually happened when I was under stress from work, and got worse with stomach ache if I have not been eating on time. It's been several years and bothers me a lot. I've done both colonoscopy and EGD and everything was normal. Recently it got to the point that I have hard time sleeping due to the pain. I don't want to rely on medication so I went to Dr Ho hoping he can help me. He told me that he will try OMM - a therapy that puts pressure on my back to relieve the pain. I was highly doubtful because I've never heard about that, and why other doctors never told me!? Since he was so confident I decided to give it a try. I was so AMAZED by how it actually relieved my cramp so quickly. Dr Ho is such a caring doctor and he was so patient. He really listened to what I said and was asking me a lot of questions. This is so different from the other doctors I've seen in the past that just rushed me out in two minutes. He made me feel that I was respected, and he really wanted to help me. This is what a patient really needs, instead of just being prescribed some medicine and kicked out. Dr Ho made my visit such a pleasant one! During the pandemic, my face skin got infected for some unknown reasons. I was worried since we were locked down at home, so I talked to Dr. Ho over the phone and sent him a few pictures. He was able to identify the issue (folliculities) and suggested me to change razor blade and apply some bacitracin. He was knowledgeable and helpful. I felt released after talking to him. read more

AVOID this office at all costs! I don't particularly like giving bad reviews, but I felt compelled to spread the word for this particular doctor. I needed to find a doctor to get a physical check-up and decided to try Dr. Ho, but I immediately regretted trying this office. They are extremely unprofessional and did not follow basic standard procedures. My first trip to the office with a scheduled appointment took over 45 minutes for the Doctor to actually see me. I made it clear that's my first time ever physical exam when I called to make an appointment, but they did not think to inform me to not eat or drink 8 hours before a blood draw until I got there. So I couldn't get my tests done on that day. Plus I had to go to a lab to get my blood draw since they don't do it there at their office. Then they insisted on me to schedule a follow up appointment to go over my test result. Turns out that "important but not urgent issue" WAS JUST A MINOR THING. And guess what? THEY CHARGED ME FOR AN OFFICE VISIT ON THAT. These people are just SHADY. I could've just review the result at home on my own. They weren't willing to help with any of the misunderstanding and literally just want your money without helping me at all. Don't waste your time or effort or money on this place, and find another medical office willing to actually help you. read more

Went to visit Dr. Ho's office on short notice and had a great experience from beginning to end. The ladies in the front were nothing but nice since the initial phone call of making the appointment. Dr. Ho had a student who was under Dr. Ho's supervision that made me feel very welcomed and was professional throughout the whole experience. Dr. Ho was very knowledgeable and informative throughout the examination as well as very kind. He took the time to really make sure that I understood everything he was saying and made sure my questions were answered thoroughly. Very incompetent doctor. Went in for a routine physical that is completely covered by my insurance. I repeated to the doctor several times that I do not want to be charged for any tests not covered by the physical. He said he understood. He then rushed me out and gave me a test form to submit to my lab. The whole visit was very rushed and impersonal. I went to the lab. A week later, to my surprise, I owed them $1k. The lab said there were a lot of unnecessary tests done that were not needed for the physical and that I had to pay for them. I hate Louis Ho as I am still disputing with my insurance due to Louis's mistake. read more

He is quite informing and the communication plus accomodating is super. Normally other offices will not call to get sign language interpreter for me as it is the patient's responsibility to request but their office, SunJen Medical, will do the work for me which is nice. It was my only 2nd visit, first was at the old location in Arcadia. Happy with the decision on doctor switch after much research for months in search of a better doctor. I've started visiting Louis Ho when his clinic still resides in Arcadia. Louis has always been friendly, and nice. I like his staff even from Arcadia time. Now that he has moved to Monrovia, it's a bit farther away from us. But still manageable. Not far from the metro station either. Louis is fluent in speaking both English and Mandarin. read more

Everyone in this doctors office is so friendly! Starting with the girls in the front & the doctor himself. He takes his time and asks what your concerns are & if you need a referral or test orders done, the girls in the front get it done right away. Only downside is you need an appointment.
