I started coming here because of Dr. Kwong. I was a patient of his when he was at the San Gabriel location. I did have HMO when I switched over to Pathways & was able to see Dr. Kwong at this office. They don't take PPO, only HMO, unless you're an established patient & only updated/switched insurance. Dr. Kwong is the best! I've been seeing him for years. He's always willing to listen, patient, and caring. I've never felt like I was rushed or like he's in a hurry to leave and see other patients. He's always willing to help & quick with referrals & sending out prescriptions. I've never had any issue with that or staff. Michelle is amazing. I've been going through some health issues and she's my go to for whatever I need. If I need to get through to Dr. Kwong I always ask for her. Everyone is helpful and professional, but Michelle knows and has all my info on what I'm going through. Even after all those calls I've made....I've never had or felt like she was in a hurry to get my off the phone or like she didn't want to help. Jerry & Maya are also nice and helpful. I We found this office in 2012. They were recommended by Scan Healthcare. From the very beginning We were treated like family Dr Chang greeting use with a hug. When I started having hip problems I started seeing Dr Peng. My husband really bonded with him and he has been or go to Doctor since. He talks about his 4 boys and we talk about our large family. This review is for the receptionist - I am actively looking for a new primary care physician since my family and I just moved down to the area from SF. I was excited to see Pathways was in-network and that they're accepting new patients. I wanted to make an appointment with Dr. Dennis Chang for me and my husband. I called and the receptionist said they are only taking HMO and not PPO patients. The reason for the 3 stars is because the receptionist was very off-putting and seemed like she was swamped with work and wanted to quickly get off the phone. I am swamped with work and I'm in a customer facing job. Even on bad days, I set aside all the negativity and put on a smile to ensure my clients get a positive experience. It's unfortunate that the receptionist failed to do so with me. Now off to find another PCP.. read more

Per the unfriendly receptionist, they don't accept PPO insurance so don't bother calling if this is the type of insurance you have. This is definitely unusual and unheard of that a doctor would not accept PPO insurance, especially considering this office and their doctors are in network. read more

I normally don't review medical offices because I am also a doctor but their billing system brought too many surprises for my taste. I was in to see the doctors in December of 2013 and January of this year for a routine exam and consult/follow up. I had a PPO insurance at the time. They told me they would bill the insurance provider. I asked if I had a copay and they said they don't think so. I was expecting a doctors visit copay of about 40 or so dollars as stated in my insurance. But over the next few months, no word about if I owe them anything so I figure it was all okay. Fast forward to September 2014 and I get a bill out of no where for $130 for my visit in January (which was just a follow up visit for a medication). I was very perplexed but decided to pay the amount. In that letter to them, I wrote a note that I wanted the manager to call me so we can figure what is going on and why I was billed 9 months later. I see the check was cashed in late September and I heard nothing from their manager. Then today (late October), I get another letter stating I owe them $130 AGAIN for the same January visit. Now I am understandably upset. Going to their website, I could not find a contact information to handle this. I tried calling their office but their manager was busy and I was to call back later. I find this very unprofessional and sours my taste for this practice despite really enjoying my visit with the doctors. Beware of them billing you months after your seemingly innocuous visit. Follow up or 1st exams should not be $130 when I have a copay and when I was not notified of these charges!! I hope they can resolve this matter as I am sure I can't be the only patient this has happened to. read more

A great primary care dr group. Dr Chang And Dr Pang are a tag team and very efficient at navigating the world of healthcare. The office runs very smoothly and is clean and modern. They use electronic records and you get access to the records through a portal. The staff is awesome and goes out of their way to assist patients. The only negative is they are not on staff of Methodist a Hospital, so they would not be your admitting dr if you ended up there. read more

I just left a positive review for the office staff and for Dr. Chang. I have not started with this practice yet but I will at the beginning of November. First impressions go a long way and I believe in positive reviews when they are deserved. My first impression of Ellie the office Manager was great. She is very efficient, friendly and thorough. I can tell that each doctor at this practice, based on her comments and reviews are very good. Laura, who answered the call was also helpful. I look forward to my first appt with Dr. Chang and meeting his nurse and office staff. I'll keep you posted & am very hopeful that after two decades with my current primary physician who is now retiring, this will be a positive change. read more

I don't have a committed doctor I go to. But look no more, I finally found the perfect doctor. Dr Pang is a sports doctor and a family doctor. I had a serious injury where I broke my foot and he was there for me every step of the way while I was healing. He would also check on my progress and he also sent me to a good physical therapy. He is very professional, experienced, and knowledgable. Dr Pang genuinely takes the time to get to know me and also listen to by pain or symptoms. The fact that he cares enough to know me as a person, I trust him with my life. Dr Pang is very well known in the Pasadena and Arcadia market. He is very busy with patients but will still try to take care of me by making recommendation for over the counter medications in the meantime before I am scheduled to see him. There are also times when I can't take time off from work and he is understanding and tries to be more flexible with his schedule. I have build a good rapport with him that he does remember who I am. He does have another partner, Dr Chang, whom I have seen if Dr Pang is out of town. I like the fact that Dr Pang is young. This reassures me that I can continue to see Dr Pang and not worry about a sudden retirement.. Lol... I have referred a few friends to him and we just all love his service and care.. I have been going to Pathways Healthcare since the beginning of the year and I have to say that you will not find Primary Care Physicians better than Doctors Peng and Chang. Their bedside manner is awesome. They are willing to take the time explain things to you and are not the type of doctors that see the dollar signs from each patient. They also prescribe generic medications so that you don't have to pay exhorbatant amounts of money to Pfizer, Merck, Watson and all those already rich companies! Their staff is extremely friendly and can multi-task with the best of them! They can be on the phone, see a patient walk up and they will automatically greet the patient (if they have been there before), check them in and continue their conversation without batting an eye. That's efficiency for you! They are also one of the few offices that are 100% electronic. They all carry around laptops and input all the patient's information. I would definitely recommend these doctors to anyone. Also, if you have plans on going abroad for any length of time, this office takes care of immunizations/vaccinations and Dr. Peng is also a Sports Medicine doctor for all you weekend warriors out there! read more

Dr. Chang is awesome. I have been coming here since 2007 when his office was upstairs. He is very friendly and caring. I come see him once a year for my check up and never had any issue. At one point when I was really sick, he saw me a few times immediately with no appointment. I also have seen Dr. Peng. He helped me with my De Quervain and gave me my cortisone shot. Very good doctor and great for sports related injuries.. The nurses are always friendly and helpful also. Great doctors office, I do not see myself ever changing! read more

It's been several months since I had my procedure and I'm finally getting around to leaving a review. I had a jet ski accident many years ago and have had moderate to severe pain in my left shoulder and neck, on and off, for the past 15+ years. I've seen numerous doctors, chiropractors, accupuncturists, etc and had countless xrays, MRIs, ultrasounds, etc. With no real diagnosis, other than bursitis, I was relying on muscle relaxers on a daily basis to give me relief. My primary doctor referred me to Dr. Peng and on my first visit he was able to detect (through ultrasound) calcific tendonitis in my shoulder which was pressing on my nerve. Long story short, I had an outpatient procedure done by Dr Peng where he was able to use a needle, dissolve the calcific growth and finally give me relief after so many years. His bedside manner is amazing! I was SO nervous before the procedure but Dr. Peng and his nurse reassured me that it wasn't going to be more than a pinch. I feel extremely lucky to have found Dr. Peng. I really couldn't imaging going on forever relying on pain killers and muscle relaxers. Thank you so much Dr. Peng!!! read more
