Texas Red Hot joints seem to be disappearing in WNY and that's a damn shame. Only the strong survive and Louie's still has 4 locations open in the area. Their longevity is a testament to their quality. Support them or risk losing them I say. The secret is in the sauce. It always is. Always imitated never duplicated. Value meal #1 is 2 hot dogs/texas hots, fries and a drink for $13.99. Texas hots were spectacular as always and the fries were surprisingly better than most. They were that good that the stood out. Service was fast and friendly and they made me feel right at home. The atmosphere is something that I've missed in most restaurants these days. Totally old school local diner vibes where everyone is treated like a familiar face (whether they are or not). Treat yourself. Take some time out of your day and go back in time and enjoy all the simple things in life. Places like Louie's Texas Hots deserve our patronage. A classic Buffalo spot. If you're from here you know.. this location is very close to me so this is our go to Louie's. Service has always been easy going and friendly and fast ! Louie's gives off an old school diner vibe and is best known for their Texas hots or hot dogs as well as breakfast. If we go my go to breakfast order is the #4 I believe, which includes French toast, eggs, and your choice of meat. If I go for lunch or dinner I'm usually getting a couple chilli cheese dogs or a burger with their Texas hot sauce. Overall great place, pretty good food and friendly and fast service read more

Ok to meh. the big sign says 24 hours! the door says, winter hours that are far more restricted. the hotdogs, err, Texas Red Hots, are about half way between hot dog and all beef hot dog in goodness. There are many better, there are many worse. the sauce was ok, and the onions and mustard helped. they were quite easy to eat. the fries were pretty good. overall, I would like to go back and try other things which might be better, and there are lots of other things to try. read more

Call back and get an attitude because I was calling . I don't know what happened to Louie's, but the quality and service has completely gone down hill , while the price has gone way up. 70$ for food that half the people in this house won't even eat now. -for what , "a credit"? When you tell me you can't make them well done AFTER I have already ordered , paid and got home , how would a credit help?! It took me over 30 years to try the late night Louie's Texas Red Hots favorite among drinkers and Buffalonians. (Although, aren't we one in the same?!) I was the only one sitting at the counter. A couple of the booths were taken. I ordered one Texas hot, and an order of fries. In about 5 minutes, or probably less, my order was complete. It was delicious and I can't wait to go back. I asked the employees on average how many does one person eat. The answer is about 3. The special of buy 5 Texas hots, get one free works for the average person. I was good with one. I went there last week Friday. I seen it was opened until 10:00 pm. I arrived around 9:38 which I thought was enough time to grab something quick to go. When I arrived I seen a woman that worked there running to the door. I thought maybe she tried closing early but seen me and was opening the door to let me in. She ran to the door to lock me out. I said I thought you were open until 10 she said we are. She said we take our last order at 9:45. I said good it's 9:45 she said we're closed and walked away. Food was great the consistency was on point all the flavors add up and went together very well. Louie's used to be a great place to grab late nite eats especially after an event, or something to feed the alcohol BUT not anymore, my husband grabbed lunch for the family from here 2 weeks ago and it was just awful!!! It was only chili dogs and fries so you would think that would be simple and easy ....NO The bread was stale , chili sauce tasted bland . He really could have saved that money considering we had all the things in house to make this exact meal . Ahh Louie's. So many memories here. I've been visiting this Louie's in particular since I moved into the neighborhood in 1995, I was 4. And throughout the 23 years of being a customer, I can say that a lot has changed. First of all, regardless of any signage, this place is not open 24/7 anymore. Was a little sad to find that out, as late night was an appeal to this place, but at the same time, I understand. Lack of business, loss of revenue. At least two of the waitresses that work here have been there as long as I can remember. But many of the wait staff are college kids, who come and go. They usually don't check up on you after your food is delivered, and you almost never get a refill on your drink. The food. There is a nostalgic appeal to me about the food, the menu hasn't changed much. Typical Greek/hot dog joint menu, with all day breakfast. I like the hot dogs with "everything" or the #3 breakfast that comes with eggs, toast, home fries, and choice of meat. Their home fries definitely used to be better. But their hot dogs and fries haven't changed a bit and are delicious as always, the hot dog sauce is the best around. Their French toast also isn't bad. They have a variety of diner type food. You'll definitely find something that sounds good. The food is getting pricey though. For about $10 a person I can usually think of other restaurants I'd rather visit. They do have a special of buy 5 hot dogs get 1 free, take out only. Other reviews have said that the inside needs an update but I disagree wholeheartedly. I think the interior has a nostalgic value and if they were to update it, I probably would never eat-in again. The step back in time to an easier time in my life is what keeps me sitting down rather than grabbing it to go. Overall, the food is pretty good, the prices are a little steep, and the service definitely needs improvement. I'll pop back in every now and then when the Texas hots craving kicks in. read more

Stopped in here with a groupon type deal the other day. Brought the wife and kids as a way to get us out of the house. The place itself is a bit run down and could for sure use an update like Mark S. said. When we got in there was only one other table sitting down eating. Waitress had us sit where ever we wanted. She was very friendly with the children though with some silly comments that made them smile. For food I got a bacon cheeseburger burger and a dog with everything, wife got a bacon grille cheese and my boys got kids meal hot dog and fries with a drink. Two fountain drinks for wife and I as well. All in all I wasn't a fan of the hot dog as it lacked any good char. The burger was decent though. Slight upgrade from a fast food chain burger mainly because the bacon on it was crispy perfection. Fries were smaller size fries but were ok. Wife wasn't thrilled with her grille cheese as the bread was basically bag sliced white bread you buy at the store. Figured a restaurant could upgrade their bread a bit. All in all it would have been $26 for everything without the coupon which is a bit steep for what it was. It's essentially a chilli dog - but the chilli and the hot dog were colorless. In fact, i was worried that the hot dog was raw, but it had either been steamed or boiled. These dogs were always my go to food after hours and the bars and restaurants closed. 4 up on 1 with a large chocolate milk did the trick. It's old school. Quick, easy, hot and tasty. Great sauce, fresh rolls and open 24/7. It's a change from the charbroiled dogs from Teds although Teds' are also great! I guess it's the mood and the time that decides. Don't expect upscale. I came to this restaurant one night around 4:30 am because there was no other restaurants open. From the look of the outside and the parking lot, I figured the restaurant was going to be dull and bland. Oh boy was I wrong, my friends and I were greeted by an employee with an energetic greeting. He then told us to "sit anywhere." When the waiter came over to our table his energy was still enthusiastic and amiable. In all my years of attending restaurants, I have never dealt with a waiter that exhibited such skill in making us feel at home. Mind you- this was as 4:30 AM on a Saturday night. A time most people would probably be sleeping at; instead of working. When I asked the waiter what was making him so happy and his exact response was "cocaine and a bunch of meth amphetamines." The combination of each of those drugs effects perfectly quantified how this man was acting. There's no doubt in my mind, that waiter was high as a kite.-- I have to thank Louie's for giving me the most uplifting after-work meal of life. There is no sarcasm in what I'm saying either, whether he was high or not, he gave me a wonderful experience. 5 Stars read more
