Well first off the patio was closed. Restrooms were closed and it was filthy! We went to order and they had no clue what they were doing. We got our food they used half a bottle of mustard on two hotdogs with minimal sauce. The hotdogs and the burgers were way overcooked!! They were not Sahlens hotdogs!! They did redo the hotdogs that were overloaded with mustard but they were still overcooked. They also didn't steam the rolls! This used to be our favorite location. We will NOT return!! read more

I absolutely love Louie's. The menu is the opposite of fancy and what you see is exactly what you get but it's gonna be perfect every single time. They will have your food ready in five minutes no matter what and it's some of the best service I've had the pleasure of experiencing. Everyone is very friendly, and even though everyone is clearly very busy they always make time to say hello or throw a smile your way. Highlights depend on what you are looking for. If it's breakfast, a Greek omelette abs a breakfast sandwich will always be great choices. Lately I've gotten in the habit of just picking 20 dollars worth of random things because I can't decide. Louise was open 24 hours until a few months ago. They are still open from early until late. Taking to the manager, he said that despite the reduced hours, their business went up, not down. Stop in for a meal, and you will understand why. Seriously: you could close your eyes and randomly pick something on the menu, and you'll be happy with what you get. The steak and cheese sub was huge and flavorful. I got home fries with it. Man, those are good. The grilled cheese is how every grilled cheese should be: buttery and crispy. The fries are also perfectly done. I wanted to get a picture of my wife's grilled chicken sandwich, but she loved it so much that she had eaten half of it already. Hers was served with feta cheese, which is a sophisticated choice for such a humble setting. And, of course, Louie's has hotdogs in their name, and they do serve a flawless dog, however you happen to like it. And, the service is lightning quick, plus the price won't set you back that much. And - AND! - they let you take your dogs to the outdoor area. My only regret is that New York has changed their rules for out of state residents. The locals have it pretty good here. read more

The location I frequented most often sadly closed this year, but I am so grateful to have a Louie's near my current apartment. Many reviewers will rate this place low due to the nature of the restaurants and the greasy finish to their food. But to those reviewers I ask... what did you truly expect? It's not fine dining. It's not gourmet. It's cheap, diner food, and I will always have a spot in my heart for that sort of fare. A hot dog, a heaping portion of fries, and a cup of their famous sauce cost me a grand total of $8. Where else could you get that in this economy? Louie's has the charm that fancier hot dog/burger joints just can't replicate. From the red and yellow paneled walls to the cheesy wooden booths to the paper menus, everything is so memorable. I've ordered from Louie's a few times via GrubHub and I am not really impressed. Their food is just okay. I'd honestly like it better if Ted's delivered for when I get a late night craving for a hotdog. I'm not a fan of their slime dogs. I would prefer a regular chili sauce over their slime sauce. Their dogs aren't charbroiled which I think is a Buffalo staple. Though I think their buy 5, get one free deal is pretty rad. And so are their late night hours. I am a fan of of their breakfast though. Served all day by the way. They have pretty yummy pancakes and home fries. They also make an omelette with their hot dogs in it if you're into that thing, but I'm not that adventurous. Bottom line: if Ted's is God-tier, Louie's is mediocre tier. Took a break from painting my kitchen this past Saturday to go get something to eat on Elmwood. We walked through the snow and arrived at Louie's on Elmwood. When we walked in we checked out the menu displayed because it was our first time there. Right away I found odd all the prices were covered. The one fellow behind the counter that was also cooking stated they were "updating the prices". Thats when we should of walked out because when I asked what certain things cost, he became very frustrated and was POUNDING the computer screen to check. Made Dan and I feel very uncomfortable. Who the heck wants a "mystery price" on something. I ordered the veggie burger, and Dan ordered the burger combo meal with an upgrade for a chocolate shake. I didn't want to ask another question because I felt so uncomfortable. The lady that took the order and delivered our food was nice and I felt very bad for her. When another couple came in and ordered she had to go outside to get the guy who was shoveling to come in a cook the food and she was apologizing almost to him, "I'm sorry but you have to come back inside because we have a new order to prepare". Once our food came it was decent. It cost me almost $20. They charged me $2 for bacon on Dans burger and he didn't even ask for it. The experience made us feel uncomfortable. It was our first and last time visiting. They need to train the current employees how to treat others or considering getting rid of some employees if they want their business to succeed. How does a Canadian living in the States celebrate memorial day? Well, I do it by eating a hot dog and a cheeseburger because it seems to be the thing to do. I stopped by Louie's Texas Red Hots on Monday (My second trip to a Louie's location since relocating to Buffalo) looking to get my Memorial Day fix. The place was completely empty which threw me for a loop since last Memorial Day I went to Ted's and the lines were practically wrapping around the building. I'm an idiot so I ordered a texas red hot not realizing that the toppings are what makes it that, and the employee who blankly stared at me like I was an idiot made it known instead of rather just explaining to me. Once we finished ordering and she asked for a name she again seemed irritated that I answered instead of my girlfriend, for some reason. Once the food actually came out I was underwhelmed with pretty much everything. I had a hot dog with meat sauce and it tasted like every other run of the mill hot dog you could order from a diner. I ordered a breakfast sandwich, 2 scrambled eggs & toast. The reason i'm giving 2 stars is the breakfast sandwich was decent. Everything else was trash. First, I ordered rye toast and was given white. But it WASN'T EVEN TOASTED?!?! They gave me regular untoasted bread with a little button smeared on. They NEVER get our orders right. It's not even like I add weird things or make it complex. Just basic right of the menu orders, always wrong. Always missing something. The service here was really good and the food was fresh. We were the only people in here around 7am a few weeks ago. The only reason I took a star off was I felt the ordering was confusing. There is a dining room, but you have to order at the window and then go sit down if you are dining in. As I entered the doorway, the imagery of the Texas Red Hots seemed to whisper, "You know you want me." So I compromised and got the sauce on my breakfast order of two eggs and home fries plus toast. I see a lot of comments here about poor service and I must say, I think that is being addressed because when I came here today it felt like I was participating in an employee training video--being filmed to demonstrate good service. The girl behind the counter greeted me and told me about their specials and the cook even leaned over to make a recommendation. The girl was also polite when bringing my order to the table and the coffee which came with a small carafe for refills. Very convenient. read more

would often go to Louie's Texas Red Hots to pick up deliveries but would regularly unassign the orders be cause the employees there weren't wearing masks properly. I was sent out to do a delivery today and when I came in, I was asked to leave. The manager there claimed when I came in the past I made a racial slur. I insisted I didn't. The manager there said he would call the police if I didn't leave. I explained to him that I didn't except orders in the past because they weren't obeying the facemask order. He insisted I leave and I kept on insisting that I didn't make any racial slurs while we waited for the police to arrive. The manager couldn't wait for the police to arrive so he decided to take the liberty to assault me. He charged into me, pushing me to the ground, bruising my right elbow. He knocked the helmet from off my head. When I came in to ask for my helmet, he walked outside and and flung it across Elmwood Ave. against a concrete barrier accross the street. The police did nothing. They never bothered to hear my side of the story, nor did they bother to file a police report. I am a human being just like everyone involved and should be treated as such. I know of three people who have died because of the covid-19 virus and am very concerned. This virus affects everyone regardless of race(s), creed and/or sexual orientation. This is brutality that should not be tolerated by any bussiness! In addition, this is a restaurant that must follow health guidelines like any other restaurant. read more

The waitress was so very rude! Costumer service non-existing. Today, after working long hours painting our porch, we walked over there to placed a two hamburger order, one with sautéed onions and mushrooms , one without the onions. My husband really dislikes onions, but I love them. When the "very small" hamburgers arrived. There was onions on his hamburger and none of the sautéed onion nor mushrooms on mine. We told the waiter who brought the food to our table about the mistake and asked him to please add the mushrooms and onions to mine. A few second later the waitress came over to yell at my husband for it was his fault the order was wrong, to pay the extra for the onion. He was caught of guard and told her, "it's my mistake? You want me to pay extra? Every one enjoying their food were also shocked by her reaction. Then she came back with the right order for me and give him attitude again when I force him to be the better person and apologize. Oh big mistake! We have come to this location several times and so far, the food is exacrly what it should be, excellent! But the people who work there are awful!! Not one person smiles or greets you! They do not say thank you for your order, have a nice day, etc! When I left yesterday I felt like I should be careful of what I was eating for fear they may have done something to my food the way they were acting! There aren't that many people that could literally always eat a hot dog. Like every day. But I'm one of these people. I know my hot dogs. This place does up a nice dog. They do not use a char grill like Ted's and other places in buffalo are known for. But they are most definitely delicious. Their fries are perfect for my liking, shoestring and perfectly crisp. They have a variety of combo meals that include fries and a drink. They also have a decently sized breakfast menu. This place is my go to greasy fix. They are also open 24/7 in some if not all locations and are often my late night choice after a night out. The Elmwood location is definitely the nicest and most welcoming. read more
