We were staying downtown Buffalo on vacation and read about Jim's Steakout on a flier. We decided to give it a try since we love to eat steak sandwiches. We both ordered a steak sandwich and some fries to share. The amount of meat on the sandwich was a very generous portion. And there was enough fries to share. Probably the most meat I've had on a steak sandwich in a long time. Everything was hot and tasty. The person cooking and taking orders was basically running the restaurant by herself. A young man came in and out picking up delivery orders. She did a good job keeping up with the demand. The restaurant had limited seating at a bar style counter that rimmed the room. You can't not give Jim's 5 stars. The food always slaps, and for that to happen middle of the night is a rarity. The workers are all super friendly and welcoming, as well. Stopped by to try their famous sub, but unfortunately, the service was disappointing. When I walked in, I was ready to order, but the employees seemed more focused on handling online orders and listening to the music playing than helping in-store customers. I waited about 5 minutes before another customer walked in -- clearly a regular -- and they were immediately handed their order. After that, the staff disappeared back into the kitchen without acknowledging me or the other customer who had just arrived. I stood there waiting for another 5 minutes, but no one bothered to take our orders or even greet us. After wasting too much time standing around, I gave up and left. Ordered an online delivery order around midnight on a Saturday. 4 items: an 8" stinger hoagie, 8" steak hoagie, larger fries, and garlic parmesan dip. Problem is, received 2 steak hoagies and no dip. Huh?! Of course, it being late and a delivery order, there's no easy way to report the mistake or correct it. The Uber Eats driver was gone by the time I opened the bag to realize the sandwiches were wrong. It's a delivery order, I'm not going to take it to back to the restaurant to try and get it fixed. Pros- More meat than bread. Meat had good flavor Bread held up to the grease Cons, I didnt care for Jim's special sauce. Being from Philadelphia I'm always looking for "The great" Cheesesteak well this is good but not that one. Everything is 4, 8 or 12 inch. I'd love to see a 6 inch. The sanwhich is one of the better Cheesesteaks in Buffalo, lots of meat and cheese but they put that Jim's Secret Sauce on it which they can lose it. Bread is decent where it didn't get soggy. Classic sub shop. IMO, there's not a bad choice on the menu. My Personal Favorite is the chicken finger subChicken Finger SubStinger Sub, but I'll occasionally opt for a Turkey sub or the ever-famous Stinger. As a matter of preference, I get the blue cheese on the side for chicken and stinger subs. The fries are pretty good, but the regular portion is kinda small. I would recommend the large, especially if you're sharing. The best thing about Jim's is that it's open late-real late. OK. That pretty much sums it up. read more

Went to Jim's steak out on Elmwood and Allen. Burnt Philly had me return. Gas is not cheap so I asked if I could at least get a soda on them..the manager replied, I gave you a new sandwich. Ok so it's Jim's steakout but I'm not a huge fan as the only thing I really would keep going back with would be the chicken finger sub yum!! But today I ordered the poutine fries and I was not impressed at all. The flavor of the gravy was poor and the cheese was a plain shredded cheddar which is not a normal cheese for poutine in my option. I would like to have cheese curds and flavorful gravy on my fries if I could choose a good poutine. The fries also fell flat as they where not that crispy which made it fall short as the fries got soggy quickly for me. The major positive today was that it was quick and easy ordering!! You need to update your website immediately!!! I placed an online order for pick up, ready at 11:21. I walked over on time, doors locked. I call. This poor guy answers saying he's getting my order ready DESPITE not being opened!!! He brought it to door to me. He was very clearly setting up for the day, appeared to be by himself. My order should NOT have been allowed to go through and it shouldn't have said the Chippewa location was open online!! I wish I had cash on me to give to this clearly hard working gentleman. Last Saturday (4/9), I chose to eat at the Jim's on Chippewa. I placed an order for an 8 finger dinner (plain ) with a side of honey mustard. After a 40 min wait in the restaurant and a short ride home I uncover, 4 fingers and 3 nuggets (thumbs). Undercooked and on top of it with a big old tub of plain yellow mustard (Who the hell orders yellow mustard with their fingers). Maybe if the employees turned down the music from 1000 and stopped dancing harder than prom night, they could have heard me say honey mustard. Something that I am sure get ordered quite frequently from the menu they stare at all shift. 20 dollars of disappoint later the tray stood untouched. On top of it I waited 40 mins for my food (~order #125), this poor girl check #111 (I'm good with numbers) after frustration and an hour wait yelled at the employees for her order which was... a taco in a bag. LET ME TELL YOUUUU, it looked like someone who was lactose intolerant took a shit on a HOT DOG BUN, wrapped it up, and sold it. First, that was NOT steak- no way. It tasted like I was eating off of the floor of a grease factory. Second, where tf were the onions and peppers?! Third, it was a HOT DOG BUN (With more bun than meat I might add) - what the actual ??? I'm from Long Island I have never seen a "sub" or "hoagie" whatever it is, like this in my life. My fiancé's "turkey club hoagie" looked like vomit after a thanksgiving dinner. Called restaurant to let them know and they said that I would need to call Grubhub to either get a refund or have a driver come back out. True, but you got the order so you should know what to give the driver. Restaurant didn't want to help and Grubhub just plain sucks (this why I didn't use the Grubhub app to order food). It is difficult for me to write this review without salivating. It is also equally difficult to write the review without crying because I'm like seven hours away from enjoying the wonderful creations that I grew up on. First off, the location is right in downtown Buffalo, close to many offices but also in the midst of the club/bar scene. Parking may be difficult during peak times. Prices are fairly reasonable for huge and well stuffed subs including all the fixings. Service is good and staff is friendly. Food is.....AMAZING! Chicken finger subs are a privilege to eat and sometimes I think God loves me extra much for allowing me to enjoy it regularly when I lived in B-Lo. The Stinger sub is a wicked creation using sirloin steak and chicken fingers mixed together. Flavor personified! My only complaint is that they offer Loganberry juice as a fountain beverage which is awesome but they should be careful about watering it down too much. Loganberry juice is a great Buffalo beverage and the flavor is meant to be savored, not covered up. read more

This place was just down the street from the hotel I was staying at. I went to this place twice within two days. I tried the Frenchy Steak Hoagie, the Chicken Bleu Hoagie, Poutine and Boneless Chicken Wings. The sandwiches here are pretty good. I enjoyed the Frenchy, it reminded me of a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich but on softer bread. It's kind of oily and fatty, and I felt my arteries clogging as i was eating it, but it was darn good. I imagine that it would make awesome post bar hopping food, especially since this place is open until 5am. The chicken bleu was good, but not as good as the beef steak hoagies in my opinion. I could have totally done without either sides - the boneless chicken wings were overpriced, and they pretty much taste the same as the chicken bleu sandwich without the bread. Actually, I think the bread is entirely necessary because the chicken wings on their own are pretty salty. The poutine was a tiny portion and the cheese was non-existent. The gravy was typical gravy you could get from anywhere out of any jar or can. Service here was good, the people working here were polite, and the guy who handed me my sandwiches said "here you go babe." I didn't take offense to that, in fact it kind of made me laugh. If you come here, stick to the sandwiches, and all will be good! read more

I had a great time out tonight....After heavy drinking I can usually eat anything and be happily satisfied...not the case here. I don't have much to say...but I ordered the chicken strip meal(I paid for more chicken strips/pieces than I got, and I don't know whose order they could have given me as there were no orders before mine)asking for ranch and BBQ sauce on the side and got buffalo chicken strips with some sweet n sour sauce on it for 9.99. I'm upset because it was already after 2am and I was ready to go so I didn't bother looking because they were not busy and there was no excuse to get the order wrong. I'm back at my hotel and extra hungry with these gross chicken strips with some kind of sour sauce on them which is really disgusting!!!! The fries that did not have that sauce on them were really good considering my hunger, and the one star is for the fries. Everything is closed, and I'm hungry. Of course I will never go back, but I don't recommend people go somewhere that cant get a simple order of chicken strips right...the picture clearly showed chicken strips and I made sure to order them. My friend James works for the Buffalo PD, and whenever he has to organize a round-the-clock surveillance team, I always hear the other officers referring to "Jim's Stake Out" and I'm pretty sure they mean this place. Right? Some of the best sandwiches in Buffalo, if you go to the right location. You have to love the Frenchy and the Diavlo and such. Excellent, typically Buffalo, wet, greasy sub food. This is definitely the place to go after a night on Chippewa or Allen Street - very nice indeed! Though the Chippewa and Allen locations are the famous ones, and there is one on Transit which is good too, and a few others, my favourite location is the one near Sheridan and Sweet Home - always delicious in there and much friendlier than the other locations. This one has almost nothing in the way of seating. Nearby Allen St location has much better seating. Their Steak Tacos are good (ask for them medium or hot), very Buffalonian - not at all Mexican - but still very good. Their subs are their specialty, not least because they are so greasy and delicious... get one that has everything (Steak, Peppers, Cheese, Onions, Mushrooms) for the full Jim's effect. One of the heaviest sandwiches you will ever eat but also one of the most delicious, and extremely original. The closest to a real Philly Cheesesteak you will ever get outside PA but with a Buffalo slant to it. Their wings are good, but there are better places to get wings. If you're going to get a drink, remember you're in Buffalo, so you have to get Loganberry! read more
