This restaurant is a block south of East Utica on Main Street. You can take #8 and #12 bus or Metro Rail Utica Station to get here. There is ample parking and a two-lane drive-through. Remodeled a few years ago, the surroundings still look pretty good. I ate inside, but most orders were drive-through and door-dash during my visit. I scored a Big Mac for just $2 in the McDonald's app. My order was placed at the inside kiosk where I like to customize my burger a bit. No salt. Add tomatoes. No salt on the fries. My order was prepared exactly as ordered. The burger was hot, the roll was fresh, and the fries were perfect. The person who handed my order to me had a nice smile, which was appreciated. Came here Sunday morning at the drive through. Was too cold to get out the car or I would've gone in. They were out of orange juice which I never heard of before. Asked for sweat tea and they were out of that as well. That was a first in all my years of going to McDonald's. I used to love this place and specifically this location. I went today and ordered a Minecraft meal (Big Mac, large fry, collectors item, and large drink), I also ordered 6 pies (3 apple, 3 strawberries and cream). I then paid the 24$ in cash and got no receipt (I didn't notice until I had gotten home), and I got no collectors item from the Big Mac meal and it also wasn't in the fun box... why did I pay the extra 3$ for just a Big Mac and fries? It was the worst experience, I went to the drive thru, and I waited over 20 minutes, there was only 1 car ahead of me, the wait was so long that people got out of line and drove off, finally I got to the intercom and waited again, there was no, "I'll be with you in a minute", the the girl finally came on, and I asked her can you put up the screen so I can see what I want? Hands down the worst McDonald's in the Buffalo area. I should know better than to go here, but I was close, it wasn't the height of the dinner rush, there were only two cars in front of me, so I figured it would be fine. 20 minutes later, only one car had placed an order, two cars who had gotten in line behind me had already left, and I decided to cut my losses and head over to the Virginia Street location, where - with the same sized line - I had my order taken in less than a minute, and was on my way home in less than 5. Ah, it's that time of the year for my fast food purge. So last night marked my one time a year I allow myself to eat at a McDonald's and let me tell you, I was left pretty satisfied. I came here last night and the place was pretty empty which meant we didn't have much of a wait for our food. The employee working was fast to take our order and fast to get it together also. I decided to order some chicken nuggets, french fries, and a Big Mac (Yes, I'm aware this is a lot of food but it takes a lot for a chubby guy like me to only eat here once a year). Everything we ordered was hot and tasted just like it should at a McDonalds. Overall, the food was good (again, for McDonalds), the service was fast and friendly, and I was left with just as much disappointment in myself for eating it as I expected. This McDonald's could very well be the worst McDonald's in New York State. I have been to this location multiple times and try to give them the benefit of the doubt, but they just don't check any of the boxes. "Fast"Food - no matter the time of day , be it 9:00am or 9:00pm, this location always has significant wait times. Always a backup in the drive through which ultimately leads many folks to leave the line and go else where (not a bad idea) Friendliness -not so much. No one expecting a huge smile or extreme enthusiasm, but it often feels as if you are inconveniencing their day. It's uncomfortable Quality of food - the reason for the 1 star. I've never had a problem with an order, and is what you would expect from them (which I enjoy) Location - the location can be convenient for the sake of being on Main Street as you're driving through, however, you definitely will not feel overly comfortable. Overall - if you can avoid this McDonald's location, I definitely would. There is a Burger King a couple doors down as well as a Wendy's down the street. I normally just go inside and speak to the manager. But this time, I figured I'd do both. Review and speak to the manager. I went to the drive through yesterday, at 8am, to get an orange juice and a coffee. Now, I never purchased an orange juice before from any McDonald's. I get to the window after hearing the price ($2.99), thinking it better be a large. What I saw looked like a 4oz and i kindly, told the young lady I didn't want the juice, but I'll keep the coffee. She rolled her eyes, and very condescending ly said to me, "You don't want it", I replied "No ma'am, its smaller than I thought." She shut the window, called someone over to void it out and gave me my money back differently, than how I gave it to her. I had given her 5 singles, for an order tbat came to $4.55. She handed me 2 singles and all the rest in nickles, dimes and pennies. Lol. I saud thank you after counting it, and she saud nothing. That experience was uncalled for. I call her #MsPetty. Went to the drive-thru to order an iced coffee. Had to wait 5 mins just to place an order. The cashier forgot to put the speaker on mute and she made a call... I could hear the whole conversation and I even tried to tell her the whole way through. After making my iced coffee order, I had to wait another 5 mins just to pay and then get my drink. The wait was at least 10 minutes in the drive-thru and the employee was extremely nasty to my cousin whose from England, simply because my cousin asked for no lettuce on the cheeseburger. I'll give 2 stars because they have never gotten my order wrong. However, if I'm stopping at McDonald's, you better believe it's after midnight. I sort-of heard them explain the late-night limitations on the menu to the car before me, but apparently needed them repeated. I think this could be better labeled if not for the customer's sake, but also so that the employees don't have to explain it all night. That being said, we are functioning with a limited menu at this hour which is all the more reason why I should never have to spend 15-20 minutes behind 3 cars in the drive-thru line at a FAST food establishment. My friend and I were in the neighborhood and had an extra half hour so we decided to stop here. This location is getting two stars. The cashier was friendly. We went inside to order and the wait was terrible. They were only taking two orders at a time, making and serving those orders, and then on to the next two orders. The drive thru was moving much faster. I ordered a Big Mac and nuggets. The nuggets were consistent with any other time I've had nuggets. I think they're the best thing on the menu. The Big Mac wasn't good. It tasted like there was no burger in there. I don't remember ever disliking it so much. If you're looking for anything else in the restaurant after you've ordered, you're only going to find napkins. No ketchup unless (I assume) you ask for it at the counter. There is a time that a man needs a nice, hot, juicy, cheap burger that resonates thorough his very soul. Reminds him of kindergarten, summer camp, junior high. college and last month. Franchises are golden, and ( like NYC cab medallions) are highly sought after. The McDonalds franchise club takes millions to get in, but practically guarantees a license to print money - to the extent that any restaurant can...it is a sure thing. Alright, so a couple of years ago, this McDonald's stole my friend's credit card when we went through the drive-through. He pulled away when they gave us the food, but realized that he hadn't been given his credit card back moments later, so he pulled back around and asked for it. The employee denied having it, so Chris had to cancel his card. His bank told him that shortly after the charge at McDonald's, a purchase was made at the store across the street. Let me start off by saying, there was a time in my life when I worked at a McDonald's for some time before I shipped off to college. Our restaurant had trouble with time and accuracy of orders; we strived to hit the marks while being an overly popular lunch spot. However, I've never experienced a worse quality of service from a McDonald's than this location. Every single time I've gone here I've received a negative attitude and EXTREMELY slow service. Unacceptably slow. On top of that, you'd think my order would be perfect after waiting so long; well twice now, it's been messed up. I honestly hope they can get their act in gear, but until then, I won't be back even though it's so close to my home.
