I just want to start off by saying that this place is DEFINITELY worth the hype. Me and my girlfriend had a reservation on a Friday night, and our experience was superb. I made a yelp account just to write this review! Our server, Nicole, was nothing short of amazing. We took every single one of her suggestions, and none of them disappointed. She was a breath of fresh air, in terms of service, compared to other otr restaurants we've been to lately. The food. SO GOOD. We started with mussels and then got a Ribeye and the gnocchi to share. My girlfriend was obsessed with the gnocchi. We finished with the butter cake and it was other-worldly. Everything was unbelievably delicious. The only slightly negative thing I can say is that each round of drinks took a while to receive. The bartender seemed very busy though so it was understandable. Had high expectations after reading the reviews but was disappointed to say the least. Focaccia was dense and lacking flavor. Both the truffle spaghetti and filet with scampi were WAY over salted. I had my first meal at Losanti last week and it was one of the best meals I've had in Cincinnati this year! My NY strip was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. I had been wanting to try Losanti for a while, and finally made it on Saturday night. I'm really glad I did. We started with the slow roasted giant meatballs, had the filet mignon oscar style, and the half chicken paillard, a side of the truffle mac n cheese, and finished with the butter cake. Everything was incredible! The waitress recommended a pinot noir that we enjoyed so much, we've since bought some for home. I will be visiting Losanti again, repeatedly! read more

This is under the category of "Not Quite Ready for Prime Time". While new Losanti has many great qualities, which includes exquisite attention to detail in the look of the restaurant. It really is an inviting and beautiful space. However, their quest to be the "Steak House of OTR" will never be realized unless they address some rather basic issues. Patrons of good steak houses have reasonable expectations for cocktails, service, and food. Let's start with cocktails. I was at Losanti last night for dinner and ordered a Manhattan. The young-ish bartender assured me he was capable of making this standard cocktail. Here's the first problem. Nowhere in the recipe of a good Manhattan is "melted ice." Losanti, for some questionable reason, uses shaved ice to make their martinis and cocktails. My Manhattan was served literally watered down, from the ice melting into the drink. Not good. A rookie mistake. Millennials may prefer hard seltzer to traditional cocktails, but if you want to be the "Steakhouse of OTR" you have to up your game. The second issue with this steak house bar was the very small selection of upscale liquors. Makers Mark was the most upscale bourbon. Whaaat? A very limited selection of bourbon in a Cincinnati steak house is a non-starter. Ron's Roost has a wider selection. At this point, Boomers still make up the majority of steak house patrons, but they will all be gone by the time Losanti's fixes these basic things. As for service, my young bartender made a good attempt to make his "recommendations" on the menu, except that he went right down the menu and recommended most every thing. I ordered filet mignon and the pasta with Bolognese sauce. The young man who served it, mangled the word Bolognese so badly, I had no idea what he was referring to. Observation for the management: train the staff to be able to pronounce each item on the menu. Kind of basic. Another observation is the transparent gimmick of selling their beef items "by the ounce." Com' on. If you only offer 10, 12, 14 ounce filets or ribeyes, what is the point of the whole "by the ounce" thing. It's annoying. Just say a 10 ounce filet is $40. makes itsmark- gimmick- steak by the oz if its still $37, just say that. The Bolognese sauce was wonderful, with very rich flavors. Much better than most. The pasta, however, needed at least 5-6 more minutes cooking to even get close to 'al dente'. This was 'al chewy'. The last items are kind of in the same "gimmicky" category. I requested a box to take home the other half of my filet. Out comes a very large, brown paper Macy's-size shopping bag to put my tiny piece of filet in. Hey. Save a tree and be reasonable. No one needs a lawn bag size bag to take their food home in. The check was delivered in, of course, a real book. Not sure about why that might be. And why oh why is there a cushy barstool sitting in the bathroom? Are we going to have visitors that we'd like to make comfortable while they wait their turn? read more

The restaurant is beautiful and they sectioned off each table with room dividers/screens for Covid social distancing which could have been word but it was actually really nice and private. Losanti has to be one of the best restaurants I've ever dined at. Right off the bat you get a warm welcome from the staff as you walk in the door. Service was very prompt, and the server was very knowledgeable about the menu. We started off with oysters that came with a really good soy sauce that I've never had at any oyster bar before. The steaks exceeded my expectations, GET THE RIBEYE!! They also have an amazing wine selection, and carry a lot of Orin Swift, which is my favorite wine. Definitely get the plum dessert! read more

Very poor service on a special day. We requested a table indoors and yet were shuttled to the fly-plagued patio where we "enjoyed" the wafting smell of garbage from nearby cans. The waiter uncorked an astringent bottle of red wine, so we sent it back and were treated to a lecture. Our steaks were inedibly salty and once replaced, our side dishes were cold. The food was adequate but neither worth the uncomfortable setting nor the rude manager who refused to acknowledge that they had done anything wrong, claiming instead that our waiter had been in constant communication with her about how terrible our experience was going. Well unfortunately he had not been on communication with us and we weren't going to double down on an awful experience. Including tip we paid $175 (which was admittedly discounted) for the privilege of packing our rather grey steaks up to be reheated with sides at home. A miss. read more

I say without hesitation that this is by far the best upscale restaurant in Over-the-Rhine and possibly the city. From the moment we ordered our drinks everything tasted to perfection. The focaccia, kale Caesar, mussels, and butter cake are absolute must order items. I would also recommend adding one of their giant meatballs on any red sauce pasta dish. Enjoying this meal on their patio made it extra enjoyable. My husband and I went to Losanti for my birthday and it was nothing short of excellent. The meal was absolutely delicious, steak cooked perfectly medium rare, but honestly I can say enough about the sides! And I never say that! We started with the gnocchi as an appetizer, which was perfect. The pillows of pasta tasted wonderful, and the truffle sauce...wowza!! We shared a 16oz ribeye, but the stars of the meal were the truffle mac and cheese and the charred broccoli...MELT IN YOUR MOUTH!!! My husband and I were recently visiting Cincinnati and met friends at Losanti for dinner Friday evening. I'll start with this: the entire dining experience was so incredible that we went back again on Saturday night!! On Friday night, the owner (Haley) circulated amongst the tables greeting folks, listening to their food interests, and encouraging them to try foods and cocktails a based on their preferences for dining. On Saturday night, the chef/owner (Anthony) brought out our food to ensure it was cooked too perfection and shared his story about the decor and his vision. On both nights, the waitstaff, manager, bartender, and hostess were kind and knowledgeable about the food and cocktails. The food...I cannot say enough about each course! We tried classic dishes as well as recommended delicious new dishes that expanded our palettes. It was an incredible overall dining experience!! Best dining in Cincinnati!!! read more
