Margaritas, bar menu and happy hour specials

Los Taquitos is a favorite local stop for Mexican in midtown. The restaurant is located in a strip mall pushed back a little from the main road. It is a lively place usually filled with regulars. There's bar, booth and table seating. Taco Tuesday and happy hour. I love the black and white photos they have. It gives the place a personal touch. I love all the ladies at the front. Always helpful and nice even when they are slammed and beyond busy. This is a great casual stop for Mexican. For food, this is one of my go-to places for menudo because they have it everyday. Today I stopped off for a quite happy hour stop. I'd been craving the watermelon margarita. It is so fresh tasting with a little watermelon garnish on top. Not overly sweet or syrupy like some places make it. I also had the chips and guacamole. I prefer this guacamole because it doesn't have all the extras (I am not a tomato or onion fan). When I want to add flavor or spice I add in salsa.

Service was good, cashier lady was friendly. The inside of the restaurant is a modern upscale place, the booths were nice. Plus the air conditioning worked perfectly too. As a party of four we ordered the chips and pick, carne asada tacos, green chili pork tacos, and a carnitas burrito. The green chili pork tacos had good flavor, however all the tortillas needed to be fried for quite a bite longer so they didn't fall apart in your hands. They do come in regular street taco style with the two tortillas and cilantro and onions, with choice of salsa. The carne asada was a bit dry and needed just a tad bit of seasoning besides the grill part. Carnitas and pork were good, very tender. They have a red sauce and green sauce, red sauce is spicy (maybe a 3/5? Spice) and the green had a nice kick to it but cool (maybe 2/5 spice). Rice was really good, just a regular traditional Spanish rice and was a little moist. Beans were okay, probably wouldn't get them again. Overall really good place for some quick street tacos with good flavor.

So happy we finally tried this spot! Casual dining ambiance, great customer service, fast and yummy food. Order at the front and they bring your food out to your table. Everything I had was great but the carnitas taco was so full of flavor juice it was definitely my favorite. Rice was delicious as well as the beans (not the typical bland versions you get at some places, tons of flavor). Will definitely be back!

I enjoy eating at Los Taquitos, Staff is nice, place is clean and the food is good with a New Mexican level of spice. While I enjoy Sinaloan style Mexican food I prefer more spice than it has to offer.

The price on the website and now in the location it's over 10$ with tax

I've been eating here for yearsssss. I only ever get the veggie burrito, either by itself or Chimi style as a meal. In the past month or two they've raised the price almost THREE dollars. Insane. It was under $7 before and now its $10.41 ish. There's no way that prices for beans , rice , a couple diced potatoes etc have gone up that much to justify such a huge price jump for a MEATLESS burrito. So sad because it's one of my favorite meals.

I stopped by Los Taquitos at Sky Harbor Airport early in the morning before my flight. It was pretty busy, but the service was still friendly and efficient. I got a bacon burrito -- it was okay overall, though the tortilla was a bit thick and hard, and the fried potatoes had a slight bitter taste. The staff were doing their best even though they seemed short-handed; one cashier was handling two registers at the same time. Appreciate their effort and good attitude despite the rush!

Love me some Los Taquitos. I have been on a healthy eating kick so I have not been in here months but today I said self "Go get you a Shrimp burrito from Los Taquitos"... so myself went and did that. I love that this location has great parking, cute and small (looks like they updated the menu boards too which is great). The cashier and team is always great and nice. I purchased a pomegranate margarita while I waited and it was good! I always recommend Los Taquitos for authentic and yummy Mexican food!

So you come in the side door to the dining room . Wait staff all greet you and guide you to the dining room, festooned with roses and talavera tiles. It's not kitschy, just gorgeous. The restaurant is inside of an old brick home with wood interior and warm colors. The service was good-- friendly and food came out at a good pace, we were checked on regularly. We ordered an appetizer and then entrees from the lunch menu. The aguachile appetizer is SO good. It's bright, fresh, and has a lot of flavor in the green sauce. It reminds me of a ceviche type dish due to its raw butterflied shrimp that is marinated in the house made chile serrano & cilantro citrus sauce. It was awesome. We were also given free chips & house made bean dip. I ordered the mixed two item plate with a chile rellano and taco corazon (grilled taco dipped in a red chile sauce, stuffed with shredded beef & melted cheese. Topped with grilled onions). The black beans and rice is also tasty. I tried a bite of the other dishes, and I also really liked the brightly colored spinach & cheese enchiladas with pink sauce ( signature beet sauce). I look forward to trying other items from the menu, I was eyeing the steak Mexicano or red snapper. Those dishes sound good for dinner.

Out of all the restaurants I had before leaving Arizona, THIS ended up being one of the places I couldn't stop thinking about after I moved away. Ever since leaving, I've randomly craved these tacos constantly. I've tried other taco spots in Denver hoping something would compare, but honestly nothing really hit the same. So when I came back out to Phoenix recently to visit some friends, this was one of the first places I knew I needed to come back to because I had built it up so much in my head over time. And somehow... it was just as good again. The meat tastes incredibly fresh, flavorful, and well-seasoned, and you can literally watch them prepare everything right in front of you, which makes the whole experience even better. There's something so satisfying about seeing the tacos being made fresh instead of food just appearing from the kitchen. You can tell they care about quality and consistency. The servers were also super friendly and welcoming both times I came here, which honestly makes such a difference. Everyone had great energy, the service was quick, and the whole place just feels inviting and authentic. I honestly think the fact that I remembered this place so vividly for so long says everything. Usually when you revisit a restaurant after hyping it up in your head for years, it ends up disappointing you. But this place tasted exactly how I remembered it, fresh, flavorful, comforting, and absolutely worth the obsession. Safe to say this place is officially a mandatory stop for me anytime I'm back in Phoenix now.

Also bring a group. The portions are huge and the food is clearly meant to be shared. Trust me on this one, bring friends. I've tried a bunch of dishes here, and there are a few I always go back to. For the table, Camarones Locos is an easy choice. The flame grilled shrimp comes out hot and full of flavor, perfect for passing around. La Patrona ceviche tower is massive and worth the order. When it hits the table, you immediately feel good about the decision. El Pulpazo is technically an entrée, but we always order it as a shareable. The octopus is grilled perfectly and it comes with rice and beans, so everyone gets a little of everything. For entrées, my number one pick is the Lobster and Crab Enchiladas with green sauce. I think about this dish at least once a week. The enchiladas are packed with lobster and crab, and the green sauce ties the whole thing together. Honestly, I could talk about this place all day. If you like Mexican food and seafood, you need to try it. Great food, big portions, and a menu that makes it hard to stop ordering.

This review is for the totality of the experience…read more I made an advance reservation at Alma Scottsdale for a mid-sized group of 7 to celebrate a special occasion. Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.
