I'm genuinely excited to write this review. I've known about this spot for a long time but never…read morefelt compelled to walk in... it's pretty unassuming from the outside, and I'll admit I can be swayed by aesthetics. One day I had an intense craving for oxtail and had no idea where to find it in Bay Ridge, so I decided to give this place a try. I ordered the oxtail with white rice and salad, plus a pork pastele. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the oxtail actually had generous, tender meat on the bones (which is not always the case!). What surprised me most was how much food I had left over for the next day. Great portions, great flavor. I'll definitely be ordering again! And it was a good reminder that sometimes the real gems aren't the ones with all the decorative bells and whistles. The food is where it's at.

It's not very often that I go out of my way to seek out Dominican food but this place did not disappoint. The insides are pretty rustic, and I would call this a typical Brooklyn hole in the wall. As someone who does not eat pork, I obviously cannot comment on a lot of of the menu offerings, but the few things I did have here were absolutely delicious. This is one of the best rotisserie chickens I've had, the spices on the outside were phenomenal, and the chicken inside was absolutely juicy and succulent without being dried out. I rarely ever eat white meat in a rotisserie chicken, but the chicken breast was cooked so well here. I also love the fresh tostones, they are my absolute favorite island snack. These were served with a side of the garlic sauce - which in my opinion could use a lot more garlic and a little bit of salt to contrast the fried plantains. Spanish rice was delicious as always, and the maduro's were Fried perfectly without compromising the integrity of the plantain. Overall, this was a solid meal, our server was super friendly and accommodating as well. I do think they could maybe spruce up the insides a little bit to make it look less dreary, and offer more chicken options for those of us that don't eat pork.

They let us sit at the bar (which sat about a total of 10 people) while we waited. After about 15 minutes we were seated. Our waitress checked-in without making us feel rushed whatsoever. We started with some drinks, the pina colada margarita, and some queso and nachos. The drinks were delicious, and the appetizers hit the spot. For dinner, I ordered the quesadilla which was a bit smaller than I expected, but still delicious. Overall, the drinks and food tasted great. It felt a little pricy for the sizes, but it felt on par for a Brooklyn restaurant. Side note: There is limited street parking available. We spent at least 20 minutes circling before we finally found a spot! Keep in mind it was a Friday at 7pm.

However I usually forget that they also had food because there are so many options for Mexican food around here. This time around I decided to stop and try their food out. We started with the queso which was ok nothing special. For my main I ordered the mole enchiladas and I actually like it. My boyfriend order the steak but they were out of stock so he settle for the pernil. He claims to be a pernil connoisseur and wasn't happy with his pernil here. I had two margaritas one regular and one with mezcal and left feeling a little tipsy. I think this is just a place for drinks and snacks but the food was just ok for me.

That set the tone of attentive service, which continued throughout an exceptional meal in Bath Beach. This area is busy, in a locals doing their thing kind of way. It's a real neighborhood, and La Chacra is a great reason to check it out. We initially had decided on ordering the Combo La Chacra, which consists of a whole rotisserie chicken, yellow rice with red beans, an avocado salad, an order of salchipapas, and an order of maduros. We added an extra half chicken, and thought "that's a wrap". However, there was an appetizer special of thinly sliced octopus prepared Peruvian style that needed to be ordered too. The service was excellent. Not overwhelming, but just right. Dishes were cleared, napkins replaced, straw wrappers taken away as soon as they hit the table. It's not something that I'm used to writing about, but needed to be said. And then, the food. It was outstanding. Compared to both the basic, and the high end Peruvian restaurants that I've been to throughout the city, La Chacra is far and away the best. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and felt intentional. Nothing was just thrown on a plate. As full as we were, and we were quite full, there was no way that we were leaving without trying something from the desert menu. Another wise choice, as both the flan and the tres leche cake were fantastic. To wrap this one up, this spot is a solid five stars. The prices are very reasonable and the food, service, and charming atmosphere will have us returning soon.

The atmosphere is amazing -- such an amazing vibe, welcoming, and filled with positive energy. The staff is super friendly, professional, and always makes you feel at home. My son asks to go there at least once a week just for his favorite chicken chuzo with French fries! It's also super kid-friendly, which makes the experience even better. This is one of those few gems that still exist in this time of inflation where you get alot for your buck. I haven't had a red snapper in awhile so I decided to treat myself to one for $22. It came complete with tostones and a salad. It was so good that I basically attacked it with my teeth and hands to the point that people were staring at me. I only know this for a fact because my dad reported it to me at the end of dinner. I was too enthralled in my dish to notice or care. My daughter had the Churrasco and rice with beans along with a side of salad. My father had a soup of shrimp swimming with explosive flavor. The whole dinner came out to $78 dollars including for 2 soda cans. The service there was impeccable. My dad changed his mind about his order twice and the waitress didn't lose her patience with him for even a second. So she must be some kind of saint. While I was waiting, a mother and daughter cut in front of me. I tried to get the attention of the server and politely informed her that I had been waiting in line before the person she was currently serving, but I was ignored. Shortly after, another waitress approached me and told me that dogs were not allowed. I explained that my dog is a service animal and that I have documentation and a permit that I could show if needed. Despite this, the staff continued helping customers who arrived after me. In the end, no one came to take my order, and I left without buying anything. This was extremely disappointing and very poor service, especially for someone who is a regular customer.
