I loved this place but I'm really upset with them. I've become vegetarian and have asked 3 times in person if they use lard in their beans and always get "no, we use vegetable oil" as a reply. I was told by someone else that eats here that they DO use lard. I messaged the business here on Yelp and was told that they do in fact use lard. My husband and I, were craving for some Mexican food and fortunate enough this restaurant does takeout. It was easy to call in and order off their menu, the gentleman on the phone was very polite while taking our order. I wish I had taken pictures to upload. However, my husband had the chefs special which is, carne with camarones al mojo de ajo, (steak with garlic shrimp). It came with the usual fixings of rice, refried beans and the little serving of lettuce mixed with the tomatoes and onions and your choice of corn or flour tortillas. It smelled and looked absolutely delicious and he enjoyed it all. I had the pollo asado with the same fixings and it for sure definitely satisfied both of our cravings! To top it off, they also do to-go margaritas! So of course I had to get one;I had the bartender margarita which was also great. Everything from the food to my margarita was packaged carefully. The food was neatly packed and kept warm the entire ride home. My drink had it's own package, that included the drink base and the mini bottles to add in the drink. I ordered some nachos and carne asada fries which the said they could accommodate & when I pick up my total was $21 something & I left a 15% tip when I get to my car this was all I received no nachos just these carne asada fries when I asked what happened they tell me we can make you nachos in 5 mins but we will charge you for them! How in the world are carne asada fries 21 dollars and the guys tells us that the meat is expensive so that's the reason for the up charge the menu clearly says 9.99 for super nachos he says no the menu has changed and that's the price for nachos now. He then brings a nacho order and tells me I'll just charge you an extra 10 dollars for the nachos so that would be $31 dollars!!! A rip off very dissatisfied disappointed! Looking through my old reviews I realized that I no longer feel this is worthy of a 5 star rating. I have been going here for years and used to really enjoy it, but on the last few visits I really did not. I think it is has now been removed from my dining rotation and I have been choosing some of the other dining places in the area instead. I do still really enjoy the chips and salsa and the pico de gallo is one of my favorites. Alcoholic drinks are good here too. Service is always friendly. Its bright and festive on the inside. I really have a hard time digesting my food though. It was very mediocre. I usually get the veggie burrito which seems like its filled with frozen veggies and is not appetizing. I'll probably be back for the pico de gallo and the drinks, but I will make plans to get my veggie burrito elsewhere. read more

Came here for lunch for the second time. Yes, you're average Americanized Mexican lunch joint. Food was good though without leaving you feeling extremely greasy or anything. Prices very fair (especially for lunch). Churros were yummy. Steak Ranchero with Corn and flour Tortillas a nice combo. Chips, Salsa, Pica De Gallo, Water, and Sodas refilled quickly..very quickly. I will say that they give you a little less beans and rice than most typical Mexican joints. But you definitely don't leave hungry...so what is there for me to complain about? A friend and I were having a hard time picking a place to eat and we randomly decided to come here. It turned out to be one of the best decisions of the night. We went on a Thursday night so there were only a few patrons in the restaurant. Service was amazing. I'm not sure if it was the owner but the gentleman that greeted us was beyond courteous. He walked us to our booth and brought out the chips and salsa. Damn good chips and salsa I might add. He brought out a second helping after we quickly downed the first basket. I had the 2 item combo which included 1 soft taco and 1 tamale + the rice/bean sides. I couldn't believe my eyes when the waiter set the plate on the table. The plates were huge and they didn't skimp on the rice and beans either. It's like they supersized everything on the menu and called it a regular. Great little family owned restaurant. read more

I found this place about a year ago and have been back many times since. First of all you can always count on excellent, attentive service from everyone there. We even went there right before closing time without realizing it. Once we saw it was 5 minutes to close we apologized and told them we would come back and they insisted that we stay. I've worked in restaurants before and I have to say that's going above and beyond, and our tip reflected it. The chips and salsa are the best I have had anywhere. Not sure how they can be so much better than others, but they are the crispiest, tastiest, biggest chips you will find and they come with amazing salsas too. I have tried a dozen dishes and have not found a clinker yet. My favorite is the cane asada, with tons of marinated grilled steak, tender tortillas, sliced avocados and excellent rice and beans. Its hard to tell from the pictures but I swear that the plates are a foot and a half across! I think I will measure one next time... If you are in the mood for really good Mexican food definitely give this place a try. You will be back! read more

I have been coming here for several years and I just have to say that not only do they provide the best food in town, but they have amazing customer service. You walk in and everyone is immediately there to help with a smile even when it's busy. I can go in and order basically anything off their menu and be satisfied (most noteworthy is their tacos al carbon or their chili colorado). The quality is high and the always leaves me wanting more. The best Mexican restaurant in the Seattle area...that's right, I said it! The food is phenomenal, but the service.....now that's where they really go above & beyond. Owners Nacho (Ignacio) & Abraham are hard-working hands-on business owners who greet every customer they can. Nacho has a hilarious sense of humor - watch out for his ketchup trick...Ha! The Carne Asada is nummers!! And they really know how to do Pollo Fundido - Azteca needs to take a lesson here. I only wish we could get up there more often...it's located across from the Fred Meyer in Everett - near Casino Road (not the best location...they deserve a far more upscale locale), but it's worth the drive. read more

This place kicks Azteca's butt! And I enjoy Azteca!! Great food- your standard Mexican food...but well made! And a great staff!! People are friend and take care of you! Go on Cinco de Mayo- it will be packed but it is worth it! The owner brings up handmade shot glasses from Mexico- and you get one for ever shot of Tequila (we have 4 of last years! ; ) ). Since I'm trying to eat healthier now, I opted for no cheese and just vegetable enchiladas. They were the most amazing enchiladas ever. I loved the sauce they poured over the enchiladas. Great flavor and no added msg. I also loved the fact that their beans are vegetarian. NO lard or any animal source is added to them. Their pico de gallo is out of this world and insanely fresh.
