Firstly time here. A friend recommended this place as they serve authentic Mexican food. That is true! Food was very very good. Now, in regards to the inside of the restaurant, I was disgusted. Tables were not clean ( I had to clean my own with sanitizer) and the floor is filthy dirty. I didn't even wanted to check the bathroom. The place doesn't feel safe in regards to hygiene. I was here a month ago and I knew that I would have to come back. They have such a wide variety of foods for lunch. This time, I sat down in the restaurant and was able to leisurely enjoy my meal. All the foods behind the plasti-covered serving counter are labeled in Spanish. Everything looked so delicious, it was hard to choose. But I settled on beef desebrada, pork carnitas, rice, and beans. I've been here three times now so it's a regular spot. The menudo is solid though does have quite a kick with more chiles than any other menudo I've ever had. Also their gorditas are their best selling item so I recommend trying those. Lengua was disappointing but chicharones are large pieces with lots of flavor. Everytime I've been here it's also been quite busy, it's got a great reputation in the community and I recommend it for authentic Mexican cuisine. read more

Wow what a spot! In the heart of the Cole neighborhood, Los Molinos is known for Gorditas which I would highly recommend. I was a little put off by the exterior decor. The barred windows were the questionable part. There was a decent crowd for 10am when we got inside. They have full menus in addition to pictures of their popular plates along the wall. I ordered the chorizo plate since it was a breakfast item. This review is super long overdue but well deserved! I've come to this restaurant a variety of times and the quality has yet to disappoint. The only item that I've tried and will continue to order are the Gorditas, but throughout my visits they have been stuffed with different fillings every time. They have a variety of Mexican meats and fillings to chose from and you can add more than one item inside of each. From all the ones I've tried up to this day, my favorites are the Chicharron, Barbacoa, and their rice and beans are delicious. These are my favs but whatever your stomach desires I promise it won't be a let down! My personal recommendation is to always ask for them to be "enmantecadas" or in other words, fried. My entire life I've been in search for good traditional Mexican Gorditas in the U.S and I have to say these are the real deal. Only a high end restaurant would charge this much and if the taste could have been worth it, then this review would be 3 stars. The restaurant was busy over the lunch hour and for good reason. Really enjoyed the asada con queso gorditas. The shells are a fat freshly fried corn tortilla split and stuffed with your fillings. Rice and beans are optional and tasty. I forgot to verify that they came with salsa and mine did not. There were grilled jalapeños and the beans were so good that I did ok without salsa. I was supposed to go out for Ramen..but found out that the place I wanted to go a block away was closed that day. I am so happy it was because I discovered this little gem of a restaurant!! My friend and I split a torta and some gorditas. I must say...both were some of the best I have had in Denver!! Watch out Torta Grill! The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous too. That torta was massive. Service was pretty good. Not a long wait and the lady working was friendly. There is a pretty good amount of seating inside too! I seriously need to go back soon. This is probably the best Mexican food I have ever had. They have great food, all their meats are cooked to an amazing flavor, it is really good. I recommend the Gorditas deep fried, my favorite. The chips and salsa is all homemade and awesome, I have never seen chips like theirs anywhere else. They normally do not speak much English when I do go in there. Only once has a server been able to fully understand what I saying, which is totally fine. Makes the place feel more authentic, which it is. They have true Mexican sodas, candies, and other treats their as well, all reasonably priced. If you feel like adventuring north of five points, this place makes it worth the trip. read more

You can get by here speaking english but Spanish certainly helps you understand what's available. Tip: Asking for "agua" means you'll get a variety of horchata. Strange experience. When you walk in, it appears that there is a buffet line, this is not a buffet. Once your order is placed, the person behind the counter scoops food from the buffet-style serving table and sends it back to the kitchen for final preparations. I was very surprised to find that they did not have Al Pastor. Instead, I settled on an asada burroto, which was decent. Overall, I was not extremely impressed. I was also slightly concerned about cleanliness, since most of the food sits on an open buffet, for everyone to walk and sneeze past. This place is in my hood and they serve up an off the hook, classic, denver style smothered burrito which is twice the size of your head for 6 bucks. I had mine filled to the brim with pork barbacoa, beans, and rice. Pork was served in big chunks but were fall apart tender with a wonderful flavor. As other reviewers noted, none of the staff (when I've been there at least) speaks English, so practice your Spanish at home before you go there so you don't have to embarrass yourself like I did (three years of high school French didn't help me much here...). The restaurant itself is filthy and filled with flies, with dried bits and sauce all over. A bunch of food was sitting at room temp in a 'hot' bar. I nearly didn't order for fear of catching a disease. After I got the food I wished I hadn't. *Barbacoa: fatty, tough and tasteless. Couldn't even finish it. God awful. *Carne Asada: Better than the barbacoa, but still overcooked and bland. *Al Carbon: The best taco we had... it was solidly mediocre! Hey! They were out of carnitas.
