2 chicken enchiladas plate
Julia S.

Tasty! Got enchiladas to go for lunch while I was in the area. They came out piping hot and were filled with pulled chicken. The sauce was flavorful without being overpowering. The rice and refried beans were a bit salty/not the healthy sort of rice and beans but this seems to be more of a place for comfort food than anything else. No-nonsense service and a warm, cozy environment especially good for a meal in the winter.

Chilli Relleno and taco..
David B.

The first thing I'm going to tell you is that all the pictures of the menu are terribly out of date. The margarita was incredibly small for 10.99. I had a Chile Relleno which was an Anaheim not a poblano. And a taco.. it was 15. 99. The flavor of everything was adequate certainly not outstanding. I would probably not come here again. That being said, I did eat it all.

Yes, yes, and YES!!!! I drive by here all the time and never stop and I'm so glad I did. The best way to describe its authenticity is that you're in someone's kitchen and they are cooking for you. Love love love them!! 500 stars!!

Steak Ranchero

Strolled by here a few days ago, while discovering our new neighborhood. Decided to come back and try it out after it was recommended by someone living across the street. Really love the quaint interior with very authentic feel. The service was satisfactory without complaints. We ordered a couple of margaritas, which were fine. The menu is full of authentic entrees, but I decided on the Shredded Beef Chimichanga. I actually enjoyed it thoroughly. The meat was super tender and flavorful with the shell nice and crispy. It doesn't come with any sides, but that didn't matter, the thing was giant, satisfying my generous appetite. I think the best thing about this place is the combination of delicious food and the value they offer. I don't recall spending less than $50 with tip for two entrees and two drinks anywhere in recent times.

Five for the location. Three for my dish Steak Ranchero. It boasted of chunks of meat. Nope. Tiny pieces maybe. Main thing is it lacked seasoning. The little tiny bowl that the "chunks" of steak came in was watered down -it was tasteless!! The tortilla had more flavor. The cuteness factor was 5. Totally! We had high hopes walking by the other day. So today we stopped by for early dinner. Their Frozen Strawberry Margarita was their saving grace. Service was polite and fast. Adam D liked his Chimichanga. Patio for those sunny days!

How accessible is parking?

There is neighborhood street parking. It is located on its own island near the Safeway, so parking is not right next to it but there is plenty.

Is the patio dog friendly?

I made mine 60 days in advance and it was absolutely worth it. We ordered the guacamole, burrita de frijoles puercos, scallops, hamachi tostada, tuna ceviche, chilaquiles de borrego, enmolada de pato, and pancita pibil, and genuinely everything was a 10/10. The scallops and ceviche completely stole the show. The scallops were perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth, and the serrano ponzu with the tomato butter added this incredible balance of brightness and richness. The ceviche was one of those dishes where every bite makes you stop for a second to reflect. They used super fresh tuna with the charred avocado and coconut broth giving it so much depth while still feeling really light and refreshing. The hamachi tostada was another standout with the habanero mayo and orange bringing the perfect amount of citrus and heat, and the pancita pibil was unbelievably flavorful. The black bean purée underneath honestly deserves its own mention because it tied the entire dish together being so smooth and rich against the acidity of the pickled onions. Service was also flawless from start to finish. Attentive without hovering, great pacing between dishes, and everyone made the experience feel warm and welcoming despite every table being filled. This place fully lives up to the hype and is absolutely worth planning ahead for.

Every dish we ordered was flavorful, thoughtful, and delicious -- but the highlight was the STEAK - do not skip this. It has a different flavor profile and I literally have been trying to figure out what is in that damn sauce since I've had it. Our server was also great and attentive, and gave us a Mezcal shot to celebrate my birthday (no desserts here BTW). Overall, I enjoyed my experience and definitely will be coming back!

Looking at taco places, I went with something close by to our location and found this hidden gem. Nestled away on a small street corner of Clay Street and 32nd Ave. parking can be scarce, but I'm sure with the right time and a little bit of walking you will find and manage your way here. Outside the restaurant, they have a small seating area which now is winter too cold to enjoy, but I'm sure in the spring and summer and fall time is super enjoyable. The inside, though a little bit tiny and no cozier than going to your mom's house and expecting a family Filled living room/Kitchen. We went down and greeted by three smiling faces. We already looked at the photos online and knew we want tacos so opted with the chicken tacos and Carne Asada taco plates. The tacos place option came with 5 tacos with up to 2 choices of meats the ratio would be 2:3 .. freshly mashed guacamole made in front of you or freshly sliced avocado.. In the pictures I listed you will find each chicken and Carne Asada options. Both slow pictures missing two tacos because we devoured them as soon as we got into the truck. Their street tacos are heavenly! Chicken option was all chicken breast super juicy grilled to perfection five tacos on a plate another two tacos missing because my husband and I devoured it. This plate came we asked it with the guacamole option instead of fresh avocado. The carne asada was just FULL of flavor and the fresh avocado slices with green tomatillo salsa SLAPPED.. the tortillas are super soft and tears from how fresh the flour tortillas were!! Definitely a place to sit and eat there to enjoy the hot food. I'm originally from SoCal and a heavily populated Latinos with amazing tacos and food.. Taqueria La Familia passed the bar high!! We can't wait to come back and try other options and will update pictures and review then!

Service was excellent, and the food was lowkey incredible. We shared the small elote dip (elote is always a hit) + ribeye + marisco molcajete, and downed almost the entire basket of chips + salsa (husband even needed some of that green sauce to go and they delivered). We ended up also ordering churros to go (easily reheated in the microwave, who knew) and this was like, the first time I've ever *truly* raved about churros (I think because this time they were really dense, which I loved). We alsooo didn't realize that Sunday was all-day happy hour, so some cheap (and very strong) margs didn't hurt either. Will absolutely be back!

The flavors set in nicely and reminded me of the wonderful time the previous night. I would certainly return!

We walked in to find it pretty well occupied around noon, but still with some empty tables. We were seated right away. The decor was lovely. It was primarily natural, earthy tones, with succulents, and a big pop of color with bright murals above the bar, creating a warm glow. I was vaguely familiar with Chef Richard Sandoval due to his brief appearance on Top Chef, but didn't know too much about his cuisine. The brunch has a really fun and original idea in that you can order bottomless small plates for $42 per person or bottomless food and drinks for $59 in person, with a two-hour limit. I would have loved to try that, but we had a lot of plans that day so opted for the à la carte menu. I chose a mimosa and my friend chose a michelada. for our drinks We shared the ceviche. I ordered the chicken tinga enchiladas, while my friend ordered the fish tacos. We shared all of the food. The ceviche was excellent, flavorful and fresh. I enjoyed the enchiladas. The portion was generous. I wasn't too fond of the tacos. There was nothing wrong with them, aside from the fact that I don't like breaded fish, but they just didn't have a ton of flavor. I will say service started strong, but then fell off a bit. Our server and food runner were friendly, but it was hard to get extra utensils when we needed them. They have a small brunch menu on Sundays but also have their full menu. I had huevos rancheros the only thing I didn't like was that the eggs were very over/under easy & the whole dish got cold fast. I wish it was served on a hot plate or the eggs were cooked longer so they were warmer. Service was ok, we ate at the bar so I think the focus was more on having our drinks filled vs asking how the food was etc. And it got busy after we arrived so the bartender was busy.
