Menudo
Mario L.

Went last minute & the tacos & menudo did not disappoint!! The pastor as well as the asada tacos were the best out of all the ones we tried. Menudo was fresh, tasted great & the pan was the best I've had with Menudo. Definitely glad I finally stopped in! Waitress was friendly & very attentive too.

First off, I want to compliment our amazing waitress. Unfortunately I didn't catch her name, but she was so accommodating and patient towards my party- my husband and I, our 2 year old son, my mother in law, and my elderly aunt. (JIC management is reading this, we were in Monday 6/6/2022 in the early evening.) The chips and spicy salsa we started with were tasty and they were served with a yummy bean dip my son couldn't get enough of. My mother in law got the tortilla soup, and enjoyed it, even though she said it was different than what she had discovered on our trip to Puerta Vallarta last summer. She also got enchiladas, which were pretty good too - since the portions are pretty big she shared with us. One thing to note is that El Valle doesn't have alcohol- my aunt wanted a margarita and we had to wait til we got home, but no biggie. My aunt got the nachos, which she said were fantastic. After our meal she approached our waitress to let her know how good they were and that she'd be thinking about them after she goes home out of state. My husband and I split the large chicken fajitas. They were also tasty and came in such a big order we were able to take our leftovers home and make tacos out of them for 3 + a toddler a few nights later. We'll definitely be back- so glad we decided to try this place!

Lunch special nachos

Love love love their lunch specials. Super affordable and the portions are big. You can share or take home for leftovers. I think the most expensive item was $10? Anyway, it's worth it! The food tasted delicious too. They start you out with a complimentary chips and salsa AND bean dip. I thought that was different. But the bean dip was so good! Lots of flavor. Note: They don't serve alcohol here.

Chicken Fajitas

I came here this weekend and I thought it was a good meal with nice staff. The prices are good the food was good and the service was good but not sure if I would ever crave the dishes I had. I tried the breakfast burrito and it had a lot of potatoes but very little egg which I was bummed about. The Fajitas are pictured below which again were good but the chicken lacked a bit of flavor.

Every dish we ordered was flavorful, thoughtful, and delicious -- but the highlight was the STEAK - do not skip this. It has a different flavor profile and I literally have been trying to figure out what is in that damn sauce since I've had it. Our server was also great and attentive, and gave us a Mezcal shot to celebrate my birthday (no desserts here BTW). Overall, I enjoyed my experience and definitely will be coming back!

This is the Michelin restaurant that you go to if you like a more casual / less stuffy experience. Food: 4 Every dish that we ordered was delicious, but slightly on the heavy side without anything light/acidic to break it up. Perhaps it's because of what we chose to order though! Frijoles Puerco: This was a play on refried beans and chorizo. The chorizo has a little kick to it. The sourdough tortillas were delicious and served fresh and warm. Callo De Hacha Al Horno: The scallops were a flavor bomb served in a serrano ponzu and tomato butter. I'm unsure why the scallops were cut into smaller pieces instead of left whole... Enmoladas De Pollo: This was essentially chicken enchiladas cooked in mole so I was skeptical if I would find this dish worthwhile. They proved me wrong as this was one of the best dishes of the night. The mole was flavorful, not too heavy, and the chicken enchilada was so well cooked. Birria De Borrego: The lamb shank was cooked until it was fork tender. After taking it apart, wrap it in a fresh and warm tortilla with refried corn beans and salsa. The lamb was well cooked and made for a good balanced bite, but it did feel special. Service: 5 We set at the chef table and was able to watch as they finished and plated each dish. The chef was attentive without being overbearing/annoying and we had a good conversation with him. Food came out at a good pace. Ambiance: 5 The restaurant is small and cozy. It didn't feel stifling or pretentious as other fine dining restaurants can sometimes feel. This would be perfect for a date or dinner with friends.

Looking at taco places, I went with something close by to our location and found this hidden gem. Nestled away on a small street corner of Clay Street and 32nd Ave. parking can be scarce, but I'm sure with the right time and a little bit of walking you will find and manage your way here. Outside the restaurant, they have a small seating area which now is winter too cold to enjoy, but I'm sure in the spring and summer and fall time is super enjoyable. The inside, though a little bit tiny and no cozier than going to your mom's house and expecting a family Filled living room/Kitchen. We went down and greeted by three smiling faces. We already looked at the photos online and knew we want tacos so opted with the chicken tacos and Carne Asada taco plates. The tacos place option came with 5 tacos with up to 2 choices of meats the ratio would be 2:3 .. freshly mashed guacamole made in front of you or freshly sliced avocado.. In the pictures I listed you will find each chicken and Carne Asada options. Both slow pictures missing two tacos because we devoured them as soon as we got into the truck. Their street tacos are heavenly! Chicken option was all chicken breast super juicy grilled to perfection five tacos on a plate another two tacos missing because my husband and I devoured it. This plate came we asked it with the guacamole option instead of fresh avocado. The carne asada was just FULL of flavor and the fresh avocado slices with green tomatillo salsa SLAPPED.. the tortillas are super soft and tears from how fresh the flour tortillas were!! Definitely a place to sit and eat there to enjoy the hot food. I'm originally from SoCal and a heavily populated Latinos with amazing tacos and food.. Taqueria La Familia passed the bar high!! We can't wait to come back and try other options and will update pictures and review then!

Service was excellent, and the food was lowkey incredible. We shared the small elote dip (elote is always a hit) + ribeye + marisco molcajete, and downed almost the entire basket of chips + salsa (husband even needed some of that green sauce to go and they delivered). We ended up also ordering churros to go (easily reheated in the microwave, who knew) and this was like, the first time I've ever *truly* raved about churros (I think because this time they were really dense, which I loved). We walked in to find it pretty well occupied around noon, but still with some empty tables. We were seated right away. The decor was lovely. It was primarily natural, earthy tones, with succulents, and a big pop of color with bright murals above the bar, creating a warm glow. I was vaguely familiar with Chef Richard Sandoval due to his brief appearance on Top Chef, but didn't know too much about his cuisine. The brunch has a really fun and original idea in that you can order bottomless small plates for $42 per person or bottomless food and drinks for $59 in person, with a two-hour limit. I would have loved to try that, but we had a lot of plans that day so opted for the à la carte menu. I chose a mimosa and my friend chose a michelada. for our drinks We shared the ceviche. I ordered the chicken tinga enchiladas, while my friend ordered the fish tacos. We shared all of the food. The ceviche was excellent, flavorful and fresh. I enjoyed the enchiladas. The portion was generous. I wasn't too fond of the tacos. There was nothing wrong with them, aside from the fact that I don't like breaded fish, but they just didn't have a ton of flavor. I will say service started strong, but then fell off a bit. Our server and food runner were friendly, but it was hard to get extra utensils when we needed them. They have a small brunch menu on Sundays but also have their full menu. I had huevos rancheros the only thing I didn't like was that the eggs were very over/under easy & the whole dish got cold fast. I wish it was served on a hot plate or the eggs were cooked longer so they were warmer. Service was ok, we ate at the bar so I think the focus was more on having our drinks filled vs asking how the food was etc. And it got busy after we arrived so the bartender was busy.
