We stopped in based on reviews. It was just OK. Pretty bland food. My burrito (I thought) was supposed to have cheese and chile inside, but there was no chile. The green chile on my tabkemate's dish was pretty bland too. There were two TVs loudly playing Landman super loudly, so our dinner was punctuated by many loud f-bombs and people hitting people in the head with pipes or guns and shooting each other ... not my mealtime cup of tea. read more

Staff were attentive and friendly. The restaurant itself wasn't anything to write home about. I ordered a sampler to share with my daughter and it was all pretty good, but not great. I was hoping for a tad cheaper of a meal but it was on par with most other Mexican restaurants. I've been going here for years but the experience I had on a Sunday evening left me with a bad taste in my mouth, literally. One bite in on a barbacoa taco tasted like it was old expired meat. The smothered burritos were cold with what tasted like leftover reheated meat. Food had to be thrown, waste of $30 dinner. I hope the owners see this post and improve service on Sundays. This is unacceptable as they've increased their prices. I've had similar subpar experiences on Sundays but not as bad as my last visit. I would avoid Sundays as they tend to clean up and shutdown way before closing time. Service during the weekday is a night and day difference compared to Sundays but I will avoid coming here for the foreseeable future. read more

Went last minute & the tacos & menudo did not disappoint!! The pastor as well as the asada tacos were the best out of all the ones we tried. Menudo was fresh, tasted great & the pan was the best I've had with Menudo. Definitely glad I finally stopped in! Waitress was friendly & very attentive too. read more

First off, I want to compliment our amazing waitress. Unfortunately I didn't catch her name, but she was so accommodating and patient towards my party- my husband and I, our 2 year old son, my mother in law, and my elderly aunt. (JIC management is reading this, we were in Monday 6/6/2022 in the early evening.) The chips and spicy salsa we started with were tasty and they were served with a yummy bean dip my son couldn't get enough of. My mother in law got the tortilla soup, and enjoyed it, even though she said it was different than what she had discovered on our trip to Puerta Vallarta last summer. She also got enchiladas, which were pretty good too - since the portions are pretty big she shared with us. One thing to note is that El Valle doesn't have alcohol- my aunt wanted a margarita and we had to wait til we got home, but no biggie. My aunt got the nachos, which she said were fantastic. After our meal she approached our waitress to let her know how good they were and that she'd be thinking about them after she goes home out of state. My husband and I split the large chicken fajitas. They were also tasty and came in such a big order we were able to take our leftovers home and make tacos out of them for 3 + a toddler a few nights later. This was an unexpected discovery earlier this week. Although I have driven by many, many times, and even frequent nearby businesses, I had never even considered popping in. This time, however, I was looking for a Mexican restaurant in the area, with solid reviews, and outdoor seating. I called, they said the would reserve a table for me, and I headed over for lunch with friends. Indeed, they had two small wooden tables that they had obviously just moved to the sidewalk outside the front door. We were the only customers, and perhaps a couple take-out orders were completed during this lunch hour on a Tuesday. I think that only one young woman was working front of house, with one cook in the back. Despite this, the service and speed were excellent. They have an extensive menu, but we stuck to the reasonably priced lunch specials. Honestly, this was considerable "bang for the buck", based on quality, amount, and price of food. My fajita tacos (basically a half order of fajitas already assembled) were delicious. Both the steak and the chicken were to my liking, and the rice and beans here are both solid. I liked the table salsa, and I also ordered some pico de gallo. I think they made it to order. Despite the tomatoes not being that ripe, it was quite good. My dining companions also enjoyed their burrito and chimichanga lunch specials. I will definitely be back. read more

The food and prices are good, but not great. The service was good and ambiance is nothing to brag about.

We found this hidden gem while searching for a quick lunch, we were a little lost, lightly hungry and not much time! We had a chicken burrito and a frijolillos burrito, both smothered! Very delicious! Wish we had more time. The staff was as wonderful and welcoming as can be. When were getting ready to leave, they learned it was my birthday they brought out a piece chocolate covered flan. A beautiful unnecessary gift! This restaurant doesn't look like much driving by but it is definitely worth trying. Staff is friendly. I saw them taking their time cleaning the restaurant to prepare for the evening rush. We got a Barbacoa Gordita, mole enchilada, and chimichanga. All delicious and very CHEAP pricing for the highland area! Note that they do not sell alcohol of any kind. If you're from California looking for some basic but authentic Mexican food this is a definite option. The service was good and the chips salsa and bean dip that they start you off with is pretty good too. I got the chilaquiles and she got the breakfast burrito with added mushrooms. They forgot the mushrooms but hey nobody is perfect. The price for the two meals and an orange juice was only like $20 which where I come from is what you'd pay for one so I was down with that. read more

I went in with low expectations because I just randomly drove by during breakfast hours and stopped at this place. They far exceeded those expectations. Really solid stuff. I ordered the chorizo w/ eggs. It was kind of a chorizo and egg scramble. It had refried beans, rice, potatoes, sour cream, and lettuce/tomato on the side. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. It was the perfect, simple mexican breakfast. I'll definitely go back for that. Probably 4 stars on its own. But then I asked the waitress what the big bowl was that she just brought to a table near me. She said it was the Menudo. I've had Menudo before (beef tripe soup type dish), and it was underwhelming. Without even asking her, she just went into the kitchen and brought me out a healthy serving of their Menudo for me to try. It was out of this world. Totally blown away. The tripe was tender and delicious. The broth was a little oily, but it always is, and the broth was super flavorful. I can't wait to go back for a full bowl sometime. When I arrived, it was clear the restaurant was closed or closing at it was nearly 9. So I sheepishly poked in and asked--would it be OK to order something to go? While I expected no they said that as long as it was to go, I was just fine and were very friendly about it. The menu is huge with many options. I agree with some that it is a little on the more expensive side 9$11.95 vs $8.95 meals) but then again what places in the highlands/sunnyside area aren't? The ambiance was nice enough and the dining area has lots of windows although the chairs are solid and therefore some may find the uncomfortable. They were fine for my short wait. They also do have a small bar area with a TV which was a welcome surprise. The food came out and I found the chicken chimichanga was perfectly fried--crisp but not hard. I got the green chili on the side so I could make sure it was still crisp when I got home. The chili was quite flavorful, the rice was tender and soft with nice spicing and the refried beans were delicious and well made. Adding in the lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream on the side, it was a delicious and filling meal. There was ample shredded chicken--so much that I had enough chicken left over to make a small burrito the next AM. Overall, I had a great experience. While normally I would give the overall dining experience and value 4 stars (I wish Yelp had 4.5 option) nonetheless the staff friendliness and willingness to accommodate my order even though they could have easily refused and gone home early pushed them to an extra star. We were at a boutique across the street and wanted some Mexican food so we thought why not just go some where new and it looked fairly authentic. I am SO happy we stopped by. Their food was amazing and the rest of my family seemed to think so, too! I ordered the red chilaquiles and they were amazing. Craving them again . My sister ordered an al pastor torta and she loved it. She's a very picky torta eater. Service was a little slow which is why I didn't give 5 stars. Our plates came out at different times and the restaurant wasn't even busy. However, I believe they make these items as they're ordered because everything was amazing. 10/10 would recommend. Someone wrote best menudo in town so I bought some - wasn't that impressed. Way more corn than I care for. Comes with thick slices of bread - I prefer corn tortillas. But when I arrived the customers there were all Mexican and it seemed so authentic. I think what impressed me most was that it was snowy day outside and a car had slid off the parking lot ledge and was stuck outside their restaurant. The entire staff of the restaurant went outside to try and help the car, working together to try and lift the car back up on the ledge in super cold, snowy weather. Made me really happy and proud to see. Great people so it's worth supporting these guys. read more

I love this place! My boyfriend and I went to the restaurant next door to try it and the wait was too long so we went to El Valle. We've been wanting to try it as well. We were so happy we did! I always know the food is going to be great when the chips and salsa are on point. And they were. They have fresh salsa and a really good bean dip they bring you out right when you get there. For lunch I got the chicken chimichanga. It comes out kind of crispy a little soft. You can ask for it to be cooked one way or the other and they will accommodate. It comes smothered in green chilli, a side of rice and beans with sour cream and guacamole on the side. Also they use white meat in there chicken which makes a huge difference. My boyfriend loves the breakfast burrito. It's a good sized portion and he loves it! You can get it with whatever meat. He gets the bacon. The green chilli is awesome too! The wait staff is super friendly and are there to serve you not like a lot of places now days. All that food for $20 plus a generous tip:) read more
