We were trying to figure out where to eat as we headed out of town, and we decided to give the breakfast burritos a try here...and we're so glad we did! While my 13 year old daughter had the ham burrito, both my husband and I had the Mexican burrito and added fresh slices of avocado...and we all tried both the red and green salsas...O!M!G! So delicious! Ham was moist and tender, lots of fresh and flavorful ingredients...I just wish we had eaten here sooner so we could have eaten here again! We'll be back! read more

Small place with a lot to offer! My veggie taco was flavorful and packed full of hearty veggies. There are endless options on the menu including breakfast and salad bowls. While sitting at one of the few inside tables I heard more than one person order a student burrito. There's a patio outside that would be great for warm weather. As far as Mexican food in Oregon goes, this place isn't bad. I've had their breakfast burritos and I ordered some cheese enchiladas today for lunch. I'm about 98% sure they use either string cheese or some variety of cheese stick in their cheese enchiladas, which was a new experience, but the flavor was pretty good and I really liked their guacamole. read more

I lived in LA for 9 years before moving to Bend, and so a good Mexican restaurant was one of the first things we set out to find. We tried several around town before finding Los Jalapenos, and this is our favorite! It's the closest to the authentic Mexican in town, and they use high quality, locally sourced beef, which I totally appreciate. Also their horchata is made from scratch and is deliciously creamy. My favorites are the street tacos, which are large size tacos, not street taco size, the bell pepper breakfast burrito, and the enchiladas with a red mole sauce. They have great interesting salad options, and their green salsa is so refreshing I could drink it. So happy we've found this place, and now we're there at least once a week. read more

The carne asada burrito. A cornerstone of any decent taqueria if you ask me. Los Jalapeños' offering fell short of my relatively low standard. I can deal with a little gristle, that's just how steak is. I will even tolerate an burrito containing ingredients other than asada, onion, cilantro, and beans. What's placed this burrito below my baseline was the combination of too much gristle and too many ingredients besides steak. My burrito was crowded with rice and beans, and what steak I did get was dominated by gristly, fatty pieces. Hate to say it, but i'll be going back to taco salsa next time. read more

Lot of great Mexican food in Bend but this place takes the number one spot. The Ranchero is awesome, but they will customize anything (picky family). They really shine in the morning, unbelievable breakfast burritos. Stop on by and give them some business, these are the local spots that need help through the covid downturn. It's the hole in the wall places that I love and this is one. I always come for breakfast (the most important meal of the day). Breakfast here reminds me of home; chiliquiles and the huevos rancheros I add chorizo to my plate. The salsa's are what do it for me. Just enough spice without being over done. read more

Visited Los Jalapenos my last day in Bend, my only regret was not finding this spot sooner. This little hole in the wall joint was a great find. Ordered breakfast burritos here and we were able to pick and choose extra or substitutions based on their preselected menu combinations. The breakfast burritos are HUGE and wonderful. One breakfast burrito does the trick. I ordered a basic bean and rice burrito to take on the road (it was equally delicious). Spinach Burrito has everything I love in a wholesome Mexican breakfast except beans, so I asked for no cheese and to add beans and they were happy to accomodate my request. The burrito was stuffed with all the ingredients and it did not leave me wanting more. I was getting full before I finished, but I did not let anything go to waste. Later for lunch, I had my bean and rice burrito, even with only two ingredients the burrito was big and had a equal amount of beans and rice. The salsa's here are tasty!! It was a toss up, but the green salsa may have been slightly better. The only thing I could've loved more from here is if the tortillas were homemade. read more

Their horchata is really warm and gross, but the burritos are delicious! Seemed busy, there was a pretty long line everytime we went to get breakfast. You order corn tortillas? Too bad, you get flour. You order a GF burrito that the server says comes on a GF tortilla? You get a sad burrito bowl. Last time I checked, Avocado isn't supposed to be brown...The only reason I'm not giving them one star is due to their reasonable prices, friendly staff, and quick service. You can find authentic Mexican food at this charming intimate family establishment and they even make their own corn tortillas. They have a really nice patio area and kitchen looks clean from the the front of the register. Ive tried their margaritas, tacos, burritos, and nachos and all are very well made. This place is hard to spot off Greenwood Ave even though it has a very bright blue/green exterior paint job- I drive past it every time when I'm looking for it.
