Last night I went to have food at this location. The staff were friendly and made me feel comfortable. I ordered a quesadilla with ground beef and added bell peppers and onions, the food was disappointing since it was soggy... when I would pick up my quesadilla it would flip over wet. Unfortunate :( My brother had ordered their nachos and he also believed there was nothing crazy about it. Not hot either just a like warm :( the food was edible but after a couple of bites not too craving... the wait time was a bit longer than expected when waiting for food it took quite some time. Went last Saturday night around 7:30 on a busy night and was quickly greeted with smiling faces. I thankfully didn't have to wait long (party of two) and was sat with Matthew. What an amazing server he was! Very attentive and steered us in the right direction, when it comes to what to order. I had the rum drink that was highly recommended by Matthew, and it was very good! The complimentary chips were crisp, and the salsa and hot sauce were delicious! I ended up adding the salsa into the hot sauce to add extra flavor! I ordered the combo plate with a bean and cheese burrito, enchilada style with red sauce and a red beef tamale. Price wasn't crazy expensive and it came with a side of rice and beans. Very good flavor and definitely crossed off the check list when it comes to a good Mexican restaurant. It has a definite cantina ambiance to it. Lots of tv's and good house music was playing too. This place was recommended by family members so decided to try it. Upon arriving, the place had a wait and was busy... but not over the top slammed like many restaurants in the valley. The girl that was seating told us that it will be 10 minutes to be seated and apologized that they were busy. We were sat within 5 minutes or so. Not bad at all. The decor of the building is the typical sit down Mexican food type of place you find in the valley. We at at our table for over 15min before a server came by. I took another 10 for chips and salsa! After awhile the server came back and took our order. It took 35min before our food came out! I got the 2 meal combo plate. 2 options picked were green chili pork tamale and a red sauce ground beef enchilada. Sides that come with the platter are refried bens and Spanish rice. The Spanish rice was your common Spanish rice you find at the better Mexican/Spanish restaurants. The refried beans were a thinner constancy than I am used to but very tasty. The enchilada was very good! The red sauce had a lot of flavor. The tamale was awesome! My better half got the Sonoran stir-fry and green corn tamale. She loved both. She says the tamale was one of the best green corn tamales she has had. Overall the food was worth close to 4 stars. Unfortunately, I am reluctant to return because they had 2 servers and one food runner for 18 tables that we counted! Completely poor planning for snowbird season. Our server was great but extremely overwhelmed. The service for the over all restaurant would get 1 star. UPDATE: Came back for lunch. Better half had a green corn tamale and loved it. This time I got the shrimp tacos with beans and rice. The sides were unchanged from prior review. The 2 shrimp tacos come on a corn soft shells. The spice on the shrimp was great! Slight heat that complimented the pineapple salsa well! I don't like cheese so I ordered them with no cheese. The place was not nearly as busy today. 7 tables had people at them and there were 2 servers and a food runner. Everything was much faster today. Don't waste your time here. I've been here, once about 13-14 years ago and now I remember why I haven't been back since. The food is less than mediocre. Mexican food is supposed to be flavorful but this was bland. They're busy but mostly with an older crowd and the way the tables are set up inside it makes you feel like you're in a cafeteria or a bingo hall. That's what the food reminds me of as well. Definitely not fine dining. I will say the staff is nice and friendly especially for as busy as they are. Worst service ever. One star is the minimum you can give. Was ignored for the first 10-15 minutes. Finally waitress (Drea D was on the bill) who never really introduced herself came by. Took our drink and food order. Beer showed up in 5 minutes but soda and water never appeared. After 15 minutes we saw waitress delivering drink orders to a table that came in 5 minutes after we ordered. Chased her down and she said she forgot. Finally got drinks. Food came. One dish was wrong so needed that to be fixed. Food was only passable. No taste. Mexican food usually has some spice. None here. Finally the bill came. 2 couples and she screwed that up also. My friend and I wanted out so we figured it out between the two of us because we did not want to wait another 15 minutes for this terrible server to figure it out. Review of my visit from Sunday, December 18, 2022. Upon entering this establishment, we were greeted promptly and provided a booth (by request) in the bar area. Very clean and neat. Superb chips and salsa. Menu has many options. Employees appeared to have positive attitudes. Our waitress was good, but slow to refill drinks. Restaurant and bar was not too busy, considering it was football Sunday and lunchtime. A good amount of TVs for those who want a place to watch any games. I had three soft chicken tacos, with re-fried beans. It was a decent meal and tasted authentic. Came hot and fairly quick. My step-pop had a burger, but the waitress never bothered to ask how he wanted it. His burger came well done and did not taste very good. I prefer the "mom and pop" type Mexican restaurants because they are top-rope authentic. However, this place is good to go, local, and serves a purpose. I believe that 3-stars is fair because of the small burger snafu and delay in refilling drinks. Will visit again for sure. Recommended. read more

Our food took over a half an hour before it was delivered to our table by a surly guy who didn't say one word to us. Our server took our order then disappeared, (most of the time she was sitting at a table with a customer, carrying on a lively conversation). The food delivery guy was passing our table, so we asked him for more salsa - he didn't even acknowledge that he heard us - he just walked back by our table and dropped a full salsa bowl into our almost empty one, splashing salsa everywhere. he didn't even look as he scurried by. Our waitress only checked back with us once, after we were all done eating. Not impressed. This place always seems to be busy, most likely due to the limited eating options in Apache Junction. Eeewwww! With The first bite if my chimi and i got A 10inch long blonde hair!! The manager Kim came by our table, i stopped her and showed her the hair and pushed my plate away. She said nothing . She then took my plate and we never saw her again. My wife finished her taco salad and i drank my coke. The waitress who apologized several times said "ill get your tab" The chimi was comped, but honestly the entire tab should have been comped ( a taco salad) To pull a long hair out of your mouth after taking a bite of food is just disgusting!!! The fact that the manager Kim never returned or showed any concern about the matter says all i need to know....i will never eat here again and would recommend that you dont either.
