When I arrived, they were all out of every meat except asada and pollo, unfortunately, so I didn't get to try the meat that I wanted. I ordered two pollo quesatacos and one asada quesabirria to go. The chicken was ok, but the steak tasted really good, good enough for me to want to come back. But I took away one star for me not getting to order what I originally wanted and another star because I believe I was overcharged. They don't give itemized receipts, just a ticket number, so it's hard to tell how they calculate their totals. The quesabirria was $10 and the quesatacos were $3.50 each, so I'm not sure how that adds up to me being charged $24.

THE BEST TACOS I'VE HAD IN THE PHOENIX AREA!! So much flavor, so delicious and a welcoming atmosphere. Quick service, a busy little spot in the evening!

Wanted to try a new taco spot for Taco Tuesday. Took the trek out to AJ to this little taco truck and it didn't disappoint. Between my boyfriend and I, we got 10 tacos for $16! Great taco Tuesday deal. They've got you covered with birria, carne asada, pollo asada, Al pastor and cabeza. We tried them all except the chicken. Great flavor, great value. The Al pastor and carne asada were my favorites. Bonus: they were only playing Pitbull songs on the speaker. ¡Dale!

I moved here to the Gold Canyon area from L.A. in 2015....the tacos here were in 2020 Mad Taco Az moved into A.J. and we are so happy about that. Not only do they have excellent tacos with salsitas muy picoso and grilled chile jalapeños but they have the best owners (super friendly) All the protein they serve is delish but my favorite is the cabeza Go Check them Out!!

Awesome food! Nice people, family owned and operated. If I could give it 10 stars I would. My new go to for Mexican food.

Meh. It's ok. Not as great as people make it out to be. Birria tacos are no bueno. Consume is good though.

Mad Taco, I think this place makes the best carne asada burritos I have ever had. My wife agrees on the cabeza street tacos. There the best!

Authentic Mexican food sounded perfect and I knew good things were in store when I arrived at 11:30am on a Friday and all of inside and outside tables were full. The inside is quaint but has quite a few tables. They also have tables out front in the shade (to call it patio seating may be a stretch, just simple tables and chairs on the exterior of the entrance). You order your food at the counter and I didn't study the menu ahead of time but the ladies taking my order were patient with me. I ordered a shredded beef taco and a cheese enchilada with rice and beans. Nothing fancy for my first time as it's hard to golf on a full stomach! I found the only open table and then hit up the salsa bar. They have 4 or 5 different salsas/hot sauces and a few other goodies. I got a small cup of each sauce and all of them were quite good. My food was colorful, flavorful and just the right away to give me some energy without being lethargic. I could go on about a few other nice things but it seems most of East Mesa already knows about this place given the high scores on Yelp from a lot of reviewers. Nothing to prevent me from giving a 5* review at this time. I look forward to trying some more dishes in the future.

Carne asada burrito which came with chipotle cream sauce, carne Asada, and pico. Also beans and we asked for no rice. We both had rice on the side with beans. The burrito was nice and big. The rice was really good. And the beans were mediocre. The burrito was good, except the only bad thing I would say it was a little too greasy, and when you bit into it, all the greasy juice came out. I'm not sure if we would go back maybe, to try something different.

I can't really pick a favorite meat but maybe it's between the turkey and the brisket. The Texas twinkies... my boyfriend is OBSESSED. I buy them to surprise him with when I want to make his day. The service is prompt, girls could use a little more enthusiasm, I get it, you're at work. But the poker face makes you feel like it's definitely a transaction and not an experience. The restaurant itself is quaint but very cute and space is utilized nicely. I did expect my turkey sandwich to come with the white bear sauce as it's pictured and advertised with. Came with barbecue instead, I was sad lol.

The place wasn't crowded, but did have plenty of people inside either waiting for orders or eating at some of the handful of tables. I looked at the big menu display screens and then placed my order at the counter with the nice woman who works there. I had the brisket plate with chili and corn bread as my sides. The brisket (some fatty, some lean so I could try their idea of both) was cooked well and had a good smoke ring. The smoke flavor wasn't as strong as I prefer, but different people have different ideas and less is more when you're cooking for a crowd, so I respect that. Their barbecue sauce (the red one -- I don't put yellow sauce on brisket -- had a good flavor that complemented the brisket's flavor rather than overpowering it.) As for the sides, the chili was OK, but not something that I would order again. I like chili and was curious. Curiosity satisfied. The corn bread was moist and that middle-of-the-road between sweet and savory that is common in much of Texas (at least the parts I have visited). I like mine a little more sweet, but, like the brisket, I am a believer in getting the texture right first. Be aware if you are a fan of the sweet corn breads.
