I have been to both Los Compadres restaurants, and I like both. The one thing about these restaurants is that there is lots of flavor. Every time I take a bite of the food I just want to eat more. The one on Pine is a hole in the wall and serves you fast. Happy hour is great. I got a huge margarita (practically fishbowl size), a mojito, and 3 fish tacos for about $13! We walked in here unannounced with 7 kids and 8 adults, one of whom was fully dressed like Clint Eastwood in The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly...ok, it was me...ok, I was really only wearing shorts and a polo...ok, I look absolutely nothing like Clint, but I digress. We had just finished assisting the FBI H&R Team with averting a hostage situation with potentially devastating internationally political implications and thought this place was perfect for a post action respite. It was nicely decorated and clean. They only took 10 or so minutes to seat us even though they were very busy. Being that they were packed, it did take a little longer for everyone to get their food and, minus one slight hiccup, the service was good. Everyone said their food was good. My 7 year old said the rice was the best he had ever tasted. Our enchiladas were very good and among the best we've had. Barring the fact that all the cash we had on us was in dinars, from an unofficial trip earlier this week, and they didn't accept dinari, paying by credit card wad quick and easy. Parking isn't the easiest and it is in Long Beach, so our suburban Sacramentan family felt a little out of place in the neighborhood but not out of place at all in the restaurant. Was just there with the family and was great! We ordered the aguachiles, coctele de camarones and the guilotas con salsa tomatillo with hand made tortillas. Everything was great also the guacamole with chips. Just that it's a small place and the parking is across the street at the corner. We drove around a lot before finding the parking because there is no big signs. I think they just need to make a big sign to show it's their parking . read more

Let me start with this is the BEST by far Mexican food ever. If you like authentic Mexican this is your spot . Don't look for any ground beer on the menu . The Micheladas are a must. Everything I have tried was amazing . This trip went with the molcajetes mixed plate. Got the portion for one but shared it and still couldn't finish the plate. This is our first visit to this location. It's much smaller than the one on Anaheim. The food is really good and the cost is great too. I love their wet burritos because they put a lot of sauce on top and all over the plate. And unlike some places they don't just stuff the burritos with lettuce to make it look big, it's actually filled with your meat of choice, beans, rice, cheese, onions, and cilantro. The food here is really good, but the service here sucks! I have only ordered take out and maybe the service is better if I dine in but their take out service sucks. Two out of the four times I have ordered there I have left unhappy. The first time I placed my order over the phone with the only guy that ever seems to be working there and I had to repeat myself like 3-4 times and he still gave me a burrito WITHOUT MEAT. Then when I go to pick it up its not ready so I pay for it and wait and then when it was bagged and ready the same guy grabs my food (and I get up to receive it) and he just stands there in front of my holding my food talking to one of the servers about who knows what. It was really annoying standing in front of him waiting for my food that was in his hands and waiting for him to finish his conversation for me to be able to leave with me food. The second time my boyfriend and I went and ordered take out there and I had to repeat myself to the girl server what seemed like 10 times and she didn't even know what ingredients were in what I was ordering, maybe thats why it took her forever to understand. Then once again my food is ready and bagged and so the server picks it up to hand it to me but oh wait that's right they have to go and talk again! We live in NYC so when we come to long beach we always look for good Mexican food. This place does NOT disappoint! I had tacos. Carne asada, shrimp and fried fish. My partner had tacos dorados and they were both were awesome! The quac was also super delicious with a little lime tang. The wait staff is friendly and very attentive. Food very uneventful, the leaf of Romaine and the half of orange (orange wheels) is a complete waste of food and food cost in general. No one wants to eat wilted lettuce nor is it very appealing. Even if I wanted to eat the oranges they are warm...who wants to eat a warm orange??? The guy who greeted us was awesome, made immediate eye contact with us when we walked in, told us he needed a minute to clear a table before he sat us, friendly, smiled and under a minute made us feel welcomed...exemplary customer service! The waitress however was a different story. She didn't greet us, instead got "what can I get you to drink"? Took forever to come back to take our order. When our food was ready she delivered it asked if there was anything else she could get us and never saw her again. All the other tables around us were being serviced and being attended to...why not us? My drink was refilled once (when she dropped our food)...glasses are rather small. Had ordered the shrimp burritos for a reasonable price and they were really good. The only thing is that i wish i knew it was served as a wet burrito. However it was very filling and took 2 days for me and my girlfriend to finish. I'm a very picky eater and a Pescatarian so finding places i like to eat at is hard.
