I ordered several different entrees including hard shell beef taco combination. Guacamole, Caldo soup and Chile Verde. I am busy so I typically order enough food for several days so I don't have to cook. I chose to eat the Beef Taco combination yesterday. As I was eating the Taco I saw something hanging down so I stared to pull and pull when I realized it was a long strand of hair. No it was 2 Long strands of hair. Gross! I called the restaurant with every intention to let them know, so, hopefully, they would be more mindful in the future. Although I was offered a credit, I refused because that was not the point of the call. I understand it is hard to hear this type of complaint but the interaction lack sincerely in a way that showed any caring. I personally will not go back to this restaurant. My three meat fajita plate was excellent and the michelada was one of the best I've ever had. Absolutely love eating here. The portions are hearty and the food is great! I've been here a few times for lunch and for dinner and the experience has been consistently positive. Most recently went with the Enchiladas de la Casa with chicken (choice of chicken or steak). The chicken is roasted and served on the side of four enchiladas filled with cheese and onions nestled under a bed of lettuce, tomato and avocado. The meal comes with a side of roasted potatoes. Its a big meal so come hungry. They have several beers on tap and I went with my favorite Negra Modela ($8 tall boy). Also tried a Pacifico Michelada which I found interesting. Plenty of Tajin and citrus flavor in the mix they use. The Bar area has several flat screens for watching your favorite sports teams. The main dining room has a few televisions as well. Only challenge is finding parking as the parking lot is small and usually packed. Best bet is to find street parking. Signs on the door state they don't condone parking across the street in the shopping plaza's parking lot. Its always a toss up between Los Compadres and Lola's when it comes to my favorite Mexican dining experience. During a recent visit to Long Beach, I searched for an authentic Mexican restaurant. I came across the numerous reviews for Los Compadres and I can tell you I was not disappointed. The restaurant is not a fancy restaurant, but the food is authentic and the prices are very reasonable. I ordered the Carne Asada with Shrimp Diablo. The presentation, size of portions, and the flavor where fantastic. I tried the Horchata (rice water) and it was great. My friend ordered the verde (green salsa) chicken enchiladas and he had a traditional margarita. He loved his meal and the margarita. For dessert, we tried the classic flan and it was creamy and delicious. Service was very friendly, on time, and they paid close attention to any special requests we had. We look forward to returning and recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great Mexican food! read more

Like most restaurants, outside dining is new, but they did great! They are setting up the space behind the restaurant with seating, which was getting a very thorough cleaning. After picking up my order brought it home of course I had to serve it on a plate so as soon as I did u got a fishy smell, it literally had very little meat but that wasn't my concern. A few of hs walked over to the McD's across the street for some temporary sustenance, because our wait time was estimated at an hour. I spoke with the hostess, went some over options and we were able to cut the wait to half with us separating our party. Service wasn't outstanding, nor was it terrible. We sat at the bar area which was a nice, energetic ambiance, booze a plenty --although none of us really drink a lot or at all. Least not that night.. For the most part we got chicken/ steak fajitas and the stuffed bacon wrapped shrimp. Our food was beautifully plated. Hefty portions, great seasonings and those shrimp looked FAT!!! I have a lot of experience with Mexican food, from eating lunch with the migrant workers in my grandfather's apple orchard to trying Mexican offerings all over the country to actually eating in Mexico. I won't use the A word (authentic), but I think I have a good feel for what Mexican cuisine should be. This place has it down. I only got take out, but all those sitting down had smiles on their faces. The employees bustled around pleasantly, making sure everyone was happy. The guy behind the cash register was super friendly, and just made me feel really welcome from the moment I walked in. When all's said and done, my biggest concern is the taste. And this place delivers! The shredded beef has so much good flavor, i could have just sat and ate that all night. Had it in the flautas, and it was just awesome. The food was delicious. The service was utter poo. Having worked in food service myself, I'm pretty forgiving and tip 20% minimum. These guys let my party and I sit alone for nearly an hour before we got our food. The waitress checked in on our drinks twice in that hour. Either I look like someone who f*cked her mother, or the service sucks harder than a ... well, something hard and preferably obscene. We didn't even get an explanation or passing apology. Just taking two seconds to say, "I'm so sorry for the delay, we're having an issue with --fill in the blank--," would have gotten them four stars.
