    Chile verde burrito

Found this place through yelp and arrived in time for happy hour. Lots of items on happy hour menu and we ordered the guacamole, chile verde burrito and shrimp tacos. Food was delicious and this was the largest serving of guacamole I've had for $10. Street corn was amazing.Service was quick and server was attentive. Would definitely return to try other items.

Los Compadres on Pine -- A Local Favorite That Never Misses If you're a local, chances are you've already been to Los Compadres on Pine. But if you haven't, do yourself a favor and add it to your list...you won't regret it. Now, this isn't a fancy spot. Every wall with TVs playing sports, and it can get very loud when it's busy. But once you get past that, you're in for some seriously good food. I've been there more than a dozen times, and the food has always been delicious and consistent. The service has always been great too! The Carne Asada Plate is easily a 9 out of 10 -- generous portion, tender and flavorful meat, cooked just right. The Caldo de Res is another standout, also a solid 9 out of 10, packed with tender beef and plenty of hearty vegetables. Breakfast lovers won't be disappointed either -- every breakfast plate I've tried has been spot-on. The chips and salsa, which are always fresh and tasty. For a little extra, try their Salsa Casera (with roasted chiles) -- it's incredible. And the best part? Tortillas made in-house -- soft, warm, and fresh!

still a fave of mine and always a treat to visit! great service, clean and open space, little parking lot across the street if you can't find street parking as well. I switch between the shrimp tacos al gobernador style and the chicken mole enchiladas but both are mouth watering delicious as per usual. My boyfriend tried the green chilaquiles with carne asada this time but he's usually a red sauce kinda guy so it was a pleasant surprise how delicious something new was for him but ultimately a creature of habit and he will probably stick to the red moving forward lol.

We chose Los Compadres tonight to celebrate my late sister's Birthday with our Family. The food was delicious. The services we received was tremendous. Ambiance was really nice. We ordered a lot of food there were 10 of us. Wifey got the chicken tacos. My daughter ordered chorizo and rice and beans. My son ordered a carne asada burrito. Our daughter in law got shrimp cocktail. I ordered the Molcajete. Overall a great experience. We highly recommend Los Compadres.

    Happy hour Fish tacos

I am so glad I found this place! It's a small chain with fresh and tasty Mexican food and drinks. The happy hour is Monday-Friday and has some great eats and drinks. The portions are great and the food is made fresh to order. Even the chips were fresh and warm, and it didn't taste like they were sitting in a hot lamp all day. The fish tacos were super good, lightly battered, crispy and packed with flavor. I really liked the smokey chipotle sauce that came with the tacos, it was creamy, tangy and had a little kick. My wife got the asada wet burrito, and it was the size of my forearm! We also got the queso fundido that I forgot to snap a pic of, but it was the best queso I've had! Super cheesy, packed with chorizo and topped with sautéed onions and green peppers. It also came with a side of tortillas and a molcajete style salsa that was super good. Happy hour drinks were reasonably prices and went perfectly with our food. The staff were super friendly and the service was good and attentive. We will definitely be back! Only con would be the parking. There's a sign for a lot somewhere, but I wasn't able to find it so we had to look for street parking.

Los Compadres on pine is one of my local favorite restaurants for authentic Mexican food. The food, drinks, service and cleanliness is excellent. Staff is super friendly and go above and beyond to provide excellent service. This place is a family favorite.

I stopped by on a Friday afternoon and waited about 20 minutes for a table. The wait was well worth it because each dish offered an explosion of flavors. My favorite dish was the birria, with the salmon ceviche as a close second. The mole was great too, but I'd say the other two dishes were more memorable and something I'd return for. I can't recommend the birria enough, as the flavors were reminiscent of what I've had in Mexico, very authentic. The space is small and can feel a bit tight, but sometimes the best food comes from these types of "hole in the wall" places. Ultimately, I'd say give Lola's a try! You can't go wrong with Mexican food!

The soup here lacks the tastebud awakening zip that Don Chato's has. The ono fish taco experience was my fault... I hate fried fish taco, so I had lofty expectations, but due to the fact that I do not prefer corn tortillas, guacamole or raw onions, led to much disappointment since It has all three. Totally my fault. The butternut enchilada was lacking in the expected savoriness... this is being polite. The potato taquito was okay... but I am not a taquito person, so if you are I would seriously encourage you to try it. The star of the table was the Mexican corn. It may not compete with Cornman in Lincoln Heights, but it was decent. I scraped off the onions and toppings on the ono tacos, put the fish on the flour tortillas that another person didn't want, and topped the fish with refried beans, street corn and a but if the chicken tortilla soup broth to make due. When you are driving more than 30 minutes for this experience, I think you would agree that it was less that a proper way to celebrate a birthday. Oh and if there isn't any street parking. It'll cost you about 9 bucks in the lot. I didn't use the restroom, so I cant review its cleanliness. Our waitress was flawless taking orders and delivering food The restaurant itself has a great layout and an outdoor courtyard complete with propane heaters and umbrellas - I loved that... but my favorite part was out front, no not the seating area in the former parking spaces, nope... it was the collapsed woman on the sidewalk, walking her dog with snot running out of her nose because she was huffing some aerosol can of whatever. This truly set the mood upon arrival. Two stars for being close to a lot of other food choices to visit afterward.

If you want big portions, legit authentic food, and prices that won't personally offend you--this is your spot. The pork shank? Fall-off-the-bone, no-effort-required kind of delicious. The tacos are (I do wish they had à la carte instead of plates, but honestly their rice and refried beans slap so I'll allow it). The ceviche is basically an entrée disguised as an appetizer, and the chicken arroz soup hits every time. They bring out chips and salsa immediately (as they should), service is quick, and there's plenty of parking--which already puts them ahead of half the restaurants in SoCal.

In addition to all those basic menu items they have some stellar creations. I opted for the carne asada plate - simple and not spicy. Hubby ordered the Carne en su Jugo- very spicy with tomatillo broth and serranos, cilantro, bacon and onions. Both of our entrees came with bean soup and tortillas. The chips/ salsa starter was addictive. Huge basket of fresh warm chips, and a salsa like no other! Chunks of veggies and just the right spice. It was hard to get those chunks on the chips but it was delicious. My carne asada was tasty, a large portion with grilled scallion and rice. I wish some of the "bean soup" had been pureed to be a bit thicker but the broth was good, with a variety of beans. Hubby's dish had an interesting flavor, very spicy. He wished the broth had some rice, though, to accompany it. We could come back weekly to try many more entrees. Their salads sound tasty, too. Service was great.

It was open seating when we arrived which majority of the tables was taken where all the television were. The main dining area had a television set up but main bar area was where the action was taking place. We got lucky as there was a table available along the wall with perfect view of the game. Of course it was rain delayed so more time to enjoy food and drinks. Also it was happy hour and taco Tuesday all at the same time. As the game was happening, one of the tequila sponsors was there offering deals. Shot and a jersey. Tony took care of us that night and he was amazing. Made sure that we got everything we needed. Very sweet as well. Happy hour menu offered a good amount of items for a great deal. As well as draft beer and cocktails. Regular menu is great as well which we've had before. Food, an order of the tostada both with shrimp and aguachili. Served with two small tostada and handful of crevice on top. Both were quite tasty and very well flavored in the juice. Also two of the street tacos with birria. They were quite small but did have a major punch of flavor to it. And well priced at 2.50 a piece. Of course the crinkle cut loaded fries with added carne asada. Seemed like it was a popular item as every table had it. It was good but a little skimpy with the topping. Lastly the chicken wings, lemon pepper flavor. Six piece tossed in the sauce. It was good but way too salty for my liking. We still enjoyed everything we had. As we got the shot with the jersey earlier, the person who was affiliated with the sponsor brand was walking around with more shot. I must say, it does hit the spot big time...lol... The crowd was lively with everyone all there for the same reason. The game and good company. First time for happy hour and it was nice. We had a great time and everyone working was the sweetest. And Tony was amazing. Took very good care of us.

Palapa next door offers the same food menu but has more drink options. Many opted for outdoor seating on the terrace due to the gorgeous views, but not wanting to wait we agreed to indoor seating. The interior of the restaurant is also very beautiful. The bathrooms were too dark for my tastes though. Our waitress was absolutely phenomenal, super friendly and anticipating all of our needs (water refills, leftover containers, etc.). Service overall by all staff was friendly. We were actually presently surprised with the taste of the food, thinking it might be more Americanized but they actually had very authentic and tasty totopos (tortilla chips). The tomato salsa that came with the chips was also very refreshing. We asked for hot sauce too and the house habanero salsa really packed a punch! We ordered carne asada nachos, pork belly chilaquiles (from the brunch menu), a breakfast burrito, poke, and steamed clams. The steamed clams came in a rich tomato broth and the breakfast burrito was massive. The poke was just okay and the chilaquiles a bit too soggy for me, and the carne asada nachos a bit dry. Nonetheless, presentation and portion sizes were respectable. The last comment is that food here is quite pricey but that reflects the likely high rent of a restaurant in 2nd and PCH. Ola still exceeded expectations and provided a more than pleasant meal.
