On my desperate endeavor to find an authentic Mexican Restaurant, and after multiple disappointing and failed attempts, Los Chilaquiles was recommended to me by a work contact. The overall vibe screamed contemporary, yet historical heritage-ish. The traditional warm yellow colors, that are often seen inside Mexican restaurants, provided a welcoming background for displaying Hispanic figures throughout the entertainment industries. The open, ceiling with black piping ushered in the contemporary vibe. Wall art of musical notes and movie reels accent the poster size photographs of Hispanic entertainers. It brought a sense of history, country pride, and authenticity to the feel. Now, moving on to the food. The salsa... y'all. I do not usually care for salsa, but their salsa was tasty. I ordered a few things to give myself a broader tasting experience. I started with their house made guacamole. It was delicious. The ingredients were fresh and the lime twang was well balanced with the sweet, aromatic cilantro. I also ordered a single tamale. Omg. It was absolutely satisfying. Even the beans were fantastic. The red sauce caught me off guard at first, but had this pleasant spice that I just couldn't resist. I'm stuffed, but my mouth is watering all over again. Is that gluttony?! Lol Next, 3 steak Gorditas with rice. The rice was yummy! Perfectly cooked and seasoned. The Gorditas were exceptional. Nice, crisp, and stuffed full of juicy goodness. I ate one cause I had explored the menu so much already... but am excited to have this experience again tomorrow!!! Service was also above par. I saw things on the menu I've never seen before and my waitress was knowledgeable and able to answer my questions. Their food is cooked fresh, so expect a 15 - 20 minute wait time as they emphasize that in their menu. If you want something quick and are accepting of low quality, as opposed to taking your time and enjoying the high quality Mexican food that Los Chilaquiles provides, then it won't be up your alley. Price was also super reasonable. I'll be back, this is a keeper!

This is a very average, Americanized Mexican restaurant. Service was pretty slow, even though it wasn't very busy. The food was very 'meh'. The usual gloppy Mexican slop you can find anywhere in town. I think on Saturday nights it becomes a little Mexican nightclub as it looks like it's setup for light/sound and there's a band/DJ area as well.

Little strip mall hole in the wall looking pace off 49th and Lafayette. Went for a slightly late lunch and basically had the place to ourselves. Enjoyed chips and salsa brought to the table. Menu choices look authentic. The bowl of chicken tortilla soup was soooooo good. Lots of chicken and avocado. And the chicken soft taco was delicious. Total cost was like $7 before tip. I would definitely go back. #yum #TryNewThings #NewToMePlace #ReviewsByRL

Didn't even know this place was hidden in this strip mall. Its a nice spacious place with a small stage and found out they have a band weekly. The waiter which I'm sure is the owner was very nice and took my order promptly, was very patience because they have so many choices on the menu with very reasonable prices so it took me a minute to decide what i wanted... i finally decided on the chicken quesadillas which were very good, i also munched on my free salsa and chips. Stop by and enjoy a meal with them and lets help them grow

I wish I was hungover right now. A maddening, deep impact, tidal wave, freckle-creating, Morgan Freeman narrating, Peckinpah-directing, I think I'm sweating-but I'm not wet-what's going on, vitamin water bonging, wake up on a pool table, hand in pretzel bowl, hog-tied, porcelain-gripping, my great uncle with gout wakes up easier than this, hangover. Yeah. I want it. Why? Because Los Chilaquiles says their chilaquiles are the best hangover food and cure around, and I want it. In more words than this they say on the back of their menu: it's tradition that the men of Mexico wake up in the morning and drink coffee and eat these chilaquiles because it's hearty and spicy and cures hangovers (read: fosters life and creativity). Friday. 7pm. Post work. "Are you cooking?" No. Are you? "No." Let's get away. Somewhere cheap. "Oh, there's this place that just posted the first Yelp Deal in Indy! It's $20 worth of food for $10. And I can just buy it here on my Yelp app. It's Los Chilaquiles. Yesssssssssss." Now I know why all these deals rule. It's serious savings. And saving money on food... a mighty, mighty idea (if you can't tell... this popped my deals cherry -- well... there was a cleaning service that was a ruse so we'll just push that under a rug for now). The poblano mole chilaquiles are dense & these really just put nachos to shame. I don't really understand why I was eating nachos for so long. Lo, I wasn't hungover but I ordered a margarita hoping that maybe I'd get a hangover directly after drinking it, I'd doze off for 8 seconds then wake up and order a whole 'nother round of the chilaquiles (which for $5 feels like it makes sense). I ordered Molletes -- which is mexican bread, butter, homemade cottage cheese (yeah, the crumbly, flaky kind) and honey. Whoa. The waitress mentioned this is her favorite of the Molletes, and she loves it with coffee in the morning. They open at 9am every day. This might seem like a strange place to hang out on a Saturday morning. But now we know... See you there.

New salsa...unfortunately not that good and chips weren't hot or fresh
    Brandon S.

Probably my fifth time here and pretty disappointed. They have changed to a traditional salsa instead of the trio you got before which wouldn't be terrible but it isn't that good. The chips weren't fresh either. Ordered a chilaquiles app and then we decided on dinner and ordered five minutes later. The dinners came out and then they brought the appetizer after although We didn't want it anymore. Chicken ajillia is very thin and over cooked and I wouldn't order it again. Fajitas I wouldn't order again and expected them to be better than most local hole in the wall spots. This may have ruined my love for this place but the house special steak is still great I'm sure!

Arroz con Pollo. Lots of veggies!!

Definitely the best Mexican restaurant in the area. The margarita was pretty sweet, but not as sweet as I've had other places. The three salsas served with the chips are all good, and the guacamole is pretty impressive. I ordered the Arroz Con Pollo because it's a Mexican restaurant staple, and I figured it would be easy to compare to other places. My eyes got big when the server put the plate down -- let's just say it's what I would do if I made arroz con pollo -- add lots of veggies! Definite upgrade, and it was SO GOOD. Not too much cheese, but still super yummy. Vegetables includes zucchini, green bell peppers, and broccoli. Trust me, it's good. Served with a little guac, pico de gallo, and sour cream. My husband got the chicken in mole sauce, and he really liked that, too. I visited this place because of its great reviews on Yelp, and I wasn't let down! Will definitely be going back! P.S. The reason I didn't give five stars is because the service was kind of slow, which didn't make sense considering we were one of two tables in the whole place.

    enchiladas
    Kate L.

GOSH THIS PLACE IS DELICIOUS! My only complaint, the servers didn't know if there was lard in their beans or not. It's cool, I'm going to figure out how to ask in Spanish so I know next time. I had enchiladas with the yummy green sauce - so good! I can't wait to go back to try the Chilaquiles once I find out about the beans.

And we all tried different margaritas, mine was a strawberry fruity take on a margarita, good and garnished nicely. Rated fresh and flavorful, not very strong and a bit pricey. Especially with some being $100+ for a drink was wild. Overall nice place, nice environment, wasn't busy and tasted good but is priced higher than most Mexican restaurants in the city.

Driving through…read morehere, you see the blight and the abandonment of this area of Indianapolis since the decline of manufacturing. Then again, it's not an uncommon story unfortunately- large parts of the city forgotten in terms of economic development but then suddenly needed during times of campaigning. Had taken Keystone and then Rural Street to get here, and the potholes are not kind. But, we had this place on our list and were determined to make it here at least once. Tlaolli stood out for its vegan offerings. Plenty of vegan taco options, birria (an absolute rarity to see vegan birria), and torta. They offer soy chorizo, jackfruit, and king oyster mushrooms as protein options. The exterior is colorful, and inside there are seating options. We had gotten our food to go, so I cannot comment too much on the service. Had placed our order online, and the food was ready within the estimated time in the order. We ordered the vegan birria tacos ($17.99), the vegan torta ($10.99 base but added soy chorizo, which was $3.99), and the no-no-no taco ($5.99). Our total with fees was approximately $45. Tlaolli offers outdoor seating, so when the weather is nicer this would be a good place to come. Next to the East Washington IPL branch, Tlaolli has a colorful green exterior with neon signage. Food: The food was very good. The proteins were nicely seasoned and juicy. The highlight for me was the birria tacos and the consome. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it. 10/10.
