We used to go to El Rodeo all the time, but the man at the register was always very rude and got into an argument with my husband. The kind of behavior is unacceptable and we haven't been back in years because of it. This has been mentioned by others on the local Facebook groups by others with the same sentiment. After spending my money there for many years, it saddened me that we were treated like that all because of an issue with our order and just trying to get it fixed. I gave 2 stars because the food is very good but the staff drove us away. read more

Can I give this rating NO stars? We used to eat here regularly and a year or so had passed, so decided to eat here again. When we walked in, there was a foul smell my husband and I both noticed and looked at each other, questioning should we stay. We stayed but will not be returning. The smell was similar to rotten fish. The food looked decent but was just "ok" and not really enjoyable due to the smell, and then it upset our stomachs later. The restaurant was dark, lights burned out, and filthy. Only one other couple was there. Too many strikes in my opinion and like I wrote - we will definitely never return. We have been going to this restaurant for years and have always had decent service and good food, but not today! We will never go back. We went out for my birthday lunch. They got my sister in law's food wrong, then acted extremely annoyed to have to fix it. We had three different waitresses help us even though we only had two meals and two waters and they were not at all busy. I was putting my food into a takeout container when I scooped a huge hair onto my chip. When the second waitress finally came back I showed it to her then asked her to just take it all away since I would not be taking it home now. She took it away. No one came over to talk to us or to say anything for over 20min and we had to finally ask for a manager. She said there wasn't one today and proceeded to walk away. About 5 minutes later a man comes over to ask what was wrong, we started to tell him what all had happened and he interrupts us and says, "you just pay and never come back!" So multiple rude servers, terrible service, incorrect and hairy food and then the person in charge to completely interrupt us and tell us to just "pay and never come back." This was the most terrible customer service response to having something wrong with your food that I have ever experienced in my entire life at any restaurant. I will NEVER go back here and will tell everyone I know to never go back again as well. I have never been treated so badly, especially when it was all completely their fault. read more

It almost pains me to write this review. I'm giving one star since 0 isn't an option. I used to eat here ALL the time, but it had been years. We were craving chips/salsa after sports. We ordered our food, which were simple order. My order came out wrong and so did my sisters. We were charged extra for every little thing. Nobody ever came back to check on anything. The taco meat had a funky taste and I couldn't get rid of that taste for over a day. I'm afraid I'm going to have to leave this restaurant on the back shelf. read more

I've always had good service and good food here! Raul is my favorite....but as he wasn't there, neither was my great time, service, and food! The menu clearly stated my meal to be served on a bed of rice. It wasn't and the server made me feel crazy for asking for what I ordered. Number 16 on the lunch menu! So I haven't eaten inside of El Rodeo yet. But I'm currently on my third carnitas taco from a carry out order my family picked up... and it's absolutely delicious. Like it's so good I'm trying not to force myself to eat this third taco because I'm full but I still want to eat it. I ordered the corn tortillas for my tacos. They came with rice - also tasty! - which I added to my taco and ate with gusto. These tacos came with just meat in a tortilla and they are devourable. So yeah- I haven't been inside El Rodeo yet... but I'm thinking I will be back for more tacos. ;) read more

I met some friends here for a meal. The food was good, but the service was a little slow and lacking for my liking. The chips and salsa were good, I wish the salsa was a little more spicy. the chips tasted fresh and were served warm. Our server seemed like she may have been the only one in the building for all of the tables, which is not acceptable. I ordered the chicken fajitas and the chicken was seasoned well, but it was cut in such small pieces that you really needed a lot of chicken to have any meat and flavor within the your tortilla. I prefer the bigger chunks of chicken when it comes to my fajita's. I would return, but it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

I went here with a few co workers for lunch. They have lunch specials for $5 and the food is good. I got the enchilada with rice and beans. The food was to my expectations but the salsa was out of this world good. It was tangy and had a good consistency, I would go back just for the salsa! The reason I am only giving three stars is because of customer service. The hostess was pleasant and greeted us with a smile but our waiter wasn't very friendly, however, he brought our food out in a timely manner and refilled our drinks when low. read more

I can't believe this is not listed as 5 star! This place is not only clean, but extremely fast service. Everything I have eaten has been perfect! We go here very often! It's always packed and servers are very friendly and tbh I am a pain to serve so I appreciate them very much! Only one thing I would like to possibly change is the bathroom soap. Overpriced for what you get. Queso was pretty good and huge. We had a party of four and all munched on it, leaving some on the table. I had the chicken tacos without tomato...I got 3 tortillas filled with chicken...nothing else. $2.75ea for that? I can get great tacos for less that from a street truck. Plus another $2 each for rice and beans. I have no problem paying the money if it's good, but it wasn't worth it. Food came out less than 2 minutes after we ordered. The manager is a complete jerk. I would recommend avoiding this restaurant unless you want to be shamed for not liking your food/drink and being put through the ringer for having it comped. Never again will I step foot into this establishment. It started with the chips and salsa appetizer, the chips were extremely over cooked and had a gross burnt aftertaste. However, since they're free we didn't say anything about it. We ordered a plate of Arroz con Camarones and a raspberry margarita. The food was okay, but the margarita was disgusting. It tasted like straight syrup with a splash of tequila. I took one sip and set it at the end of the table to ask to have it taken off my check. We never saw the server after that, we just sat patiently- no complaints at all. (I have been a server so we don't typically complain at restaurants.) Finally, the manager came over and asked if there was anything he could help with. I responded, "Yes, we're ready for our check, but I would like this margarita taken off since I only had a sip and didn't like it." He proceeded to tell me how much of a waste it was and said, "Next time you come don't get a margarita because you will just waste it." He proceeded to tell 3 more employees that I was wasting product, trying to embarrass me for it. We let it go, but then at checkout, my boyfriend asked him how he was doing and he said "I was fine until she wasted a perfectly good margarita." He completely restarted the conversation, telling my boyfriend how ridiculous it was and how no one ever complains about the drinks. Absolutely ridiculous. I would have understood his response if I would have drank 1/4 or more of the drink then decided I didn't like it- but I literally took A SIP. So yeah, I would recommend avoiding this restaurant unless you want to be put on blast for not liking your food/drink. We still left a generous tip for the server as it wasn't her fault that the manager was such a jerk. read more

I used to frequent this place all of the time growing up. My family absolutely loved their fried ice cream. I was in town with my boyfriend I decided to stop in and have him to the ice freak I always raves about. It was absolutely horrible. The ice cream was so freezer burnt that it was filled with chunks of ice. By the time the waitress got back around, it was completely melted. They asked if we wanted anything else but we were kinda over it at that point. They didn't take off a discount or anything. I wish they had the quality and awesome service they once had. read more

This place is always BUSY! But the wait seems to go quick since they provide quick service on your seated. Overall it's a nice little Mexican place to grab dinner at. They are kid friendly which is also a plus! Their menu is pretty large and has a good selection of entrées to choose from. Rice is semi bland, in my opinion. Enchilada sauce also seems blend and is never hot (temp wise). They offer a full bar and a wide selection of beer (both bottled and draft). Staff is always nice. Food is served quickly! And there is free chips & salsa, no brainer...right!? My only complaint would be their entry way. The entry way is where people check in so it gets crowded when there is a wait. When you open the door there's always a crowd of people standing there and you have to wiggle your way to the check in counter. The checkout/ to-go pick up counter is right to the side so that area therefore causing more congestion. Not to mention there is no place to sit while waiting. read more

It's nice to know about a decent Mexican restaurant to satisfy your craving in every nook and cranny of the Indy-metro area. This location will satisfy your basic need for Mexican food and apparently a ginormous margarita if you are southeast of the city. Overall, it was ok. Some dishes I felt were great where others were fine. The salsa has pretty good flavor, but nothing to write home about. It didn't have much spiciness, and spicier, green, or pico de gallo options were not offered. It was a Tuesday so it was burrito night and two burritos were offered, both under $9. I ordered the Burritos Mexicanos, and my companion ordered Pablos Burrito. By far the Pablos Burrito was better. It contained chorizo and steak and was topped with queso sauce. I ordered Burritos Mexicanos because it said they'd be smothered and I wanted some cheesy goodness. Also, I liked the option to get one beef burrito and one chicken burrito. They were not very warm, so they seemed less fresh. Also, the "smother" of cheese was more like a "sprinkle" and I wish there was a better more flavorful or rich sauce topping. I would go again, but order the Pablos Burrito instead of the Burritos Mexicano, or I would try something else on the menu. In general, it didn't disappoint, but it didn't delight me either. I was deciding between 2 and 3 stars, but because I would return and they had some decent specials, I gave this place the benefit of the doubt! read more
