The one thing I hated was having to look at the Fox News playing in the background. There is, however, some delicious and tempting doughnuts in a case while you wait in line. Of course I had to get one for me and my partner. They were fresh, but clearly made from frozen doughnuts and prepackaged icing. Service was friendly, but not sycophantic. You must order at the counter, which I find annoying since I always tip, regardless. I feel it's not as great a value. They did offer us coffee refills, but also asked us to refill the salt and pepper while we were still seated. If you look at the menu, you'll see that there are no vegan options and you have to do a bit of cobbling to make anything vegetarian. The food was good, hot, and fresh. There need to be better sides and veggies to add to dishes. It's really all meat and carbs. I would return if friends or family wanted to stop in.

Chorizo, egg and cheese, folded into a warm corn tortilla. Boom. Simple, like the best kind of tacos. My taco came with a little bottle of mild green sauce to squeeze over everything, if I wished. (I wished.) It was a satisfying and tasty little breakfast. Other varieties of breakfast tacos include bacon, sausage or ham. But it's breakfast, and I'm Mexican, so I gravitate toward chorizo, which I think is always a good choice. Chorizo has never let me down. You can also get your taco on a flour tortilla, but let's be honest, there was no way that was happening. Corn tortillas are the way to go. Other breakfast things include a breakfast burrito (I'll be back to try that, yessiree), biscuits & gravy, and oats & toast. They also serve lunch items. I enjoyed my breakfast taco with a 16-ounce black coffee, which was great. What really impressed me: My taco and coffee cost $5 and change! What a deal! I felt like I was living in 2010. This is a great place to get a great breakfast for not a lot of money. I did not know Tia's existed before today, and my discovery of it coincided with learning that my great tia (aunt, in Spanish) passed away yesterday. She was 92, so it's not tragic, but it's still sad. So when I was looking for a place to eat on Yelp, and I saw Tia's and I saw that they had breakfast tacos, I knew this was the place to visit. And I was right! Maybe Tia Dorothy led me to this place.

In my opinion, there are better places for breakfast. We arrived and checked in with the host and were told there would be about a 15 minute wait, which ended up being a bit less than that. They were doing a good job quickly cleaning the tables and resetting them for the next guests and they got through the waitlist very quickly. We were seated and our server came over right away and took our drink order (two coffees and two waters) and returned almost immediately with our request. I asked a couple of questions about the menu and whether the biscuits were made in house. I was told no, that they came in frozen. No biggie.. I decided to do something light and chose the oatmeal with blueberries. My friend did scrambled eggs, sausage and pancakes. The service was good. Nothing exceptional but certainly solid. The place was packed and I'm sure it had been a long day for the breakfast crew. Our drinks were never empty and our server dropped off extra napkins without asking and checked on us throughout our visit. When she brought our check, I placed my credit card on the table and she walked by a couple of times without taking it, which I thought was strange. Then I realized there was a cash register at the back of the restaurant with cashiers. I looked at my bill to see if it said anything about paying at the cash register and it didn't. We probably would have been out of there about 10 minutes sooner had she mentioned that we were to pay the cashier. Again, no real complaints about that, but something worth mentioning. My real issue was the food. This isn't a scratch made kitchen and nothing was exceptional. Syrup was on each table in bulk and was probably from GFS or another supplier. Pancake batter was the same. Oatmeal was okay but again, not great. Nothing seems to be made in house here. Even the coffee had a slightly off taste. Four stars for the service but only two for the food. Since I came here for the food and not the service, that's where my rating comes from.
