Wow did we enjoy our meal here. This place is ideal for big groups and celebrations. All of the food is good. I tried a few burritos, soppapillas, fajitas, etc. The red meat is very well marinated and tastes fantastic. I am so sad to admit that this restaurant has gone from greatness to absolutely trash, they overcharge for absolutely everything add onions one dollar as lettuce $3.00. We paid over $75 today for a sub standard Mexican meal the same thing before the pandemic with a cost $45. It seems like they're now taking advantage of their old regulars which I will no longer be. The owners were nice people and of course they were nowhere to be seen today at lunch, unfortunately, all the regular weight staff is gone who didn't want to rip off their customers and are replaced with ones that will thank goodness I was able to charge the wait staff for all the absolute crazy extras and I let him take that as a tip. Unfortunately if he would've told us about the extra charges we would've said no so it is his fault that he didn't want to tell us and it came out of his tip. I highly suggest in the future not to try this restaurant that used to be great and they are falling into unfortunately bad food with horrible prices. read more

Ill start with the food is decent and our server nice but the upcharges are ridiculous! After all the up charges this is a $$$$ kind of place not a $$ place. First their salsa was a too spicy for me ( which is not unexpected as im a big wimp when it comes to spicy). My problem however is not with the spicy salsa but the $3.25 they charged me for a mild red sauce since i couldn't eat the FREE salsa. I was also not told this would be additional. Second, i order fajitas which already cost $20 but if you want a teeny tiny cup of cheese and sour cream its an extra $4 (at least this cost was on the menu instead of hidden). The last and worse part was when i was charged an extra $2 for tortillas that should come with the damn meal. I was splitting the meal with my husband and they asked if we wanted a few extra tortillas. Of course i said yes. He got 3 and i got 3 and they charged us $1 each....annnnd of course they never said this was extra. So 1 plate of shared fajitas and 3 margaritas ended up costing us $85. Classic case of management nickle and diming people. REDICULOUS! So i definitely won't be back. We live down the street and eat/take out from here 2-3 times a month, it's been consistently good since we moved here, 17 years ago. This is a multi-generational family & local business, they have excellent food & service. During the Coronavirus crisis I want to support local businesses. I've been an in-restaurant patron of Los Arcos and chose them for my first DoorDash delivery during the crisis. I ordered a quesadilla with steak and Chile con queso. Total bill was close to $30. The food arrived quickly, which I credit to DoorDash. But I would have gladly waited longer to receive food that was actually edible. The queso was a large plastic container of greasy glop and three small flour tortillas. And that wasn't the worst of it. The quesadilla: I ordered steak, they sent chicken. It sat in a styrofoam container, thoroughly soaked in grease. Literally, it was sitting in a pool of orange grease. This wasn't simply an honest mistake, this was prepared by someone who clearly doesn't care. At all. I'm so disappointed. I tried to support this local restaurant. They didn't do their part. I won't be back, either physically or virtually. read more

Mariachi band! We arrived at 1745 on a Friday evening because our 3-year-old grandson was celebrating his birthday and he LOVES the mariachi band (which starts playing at 1800). Seven members strong and they are very good. They know how to entertain. Great fun. This is definitely a restaurant created by "Mexicans" to separate the gringos from their money. Lots of suburbanites packing away the food. The food is bland. The portions are huge (and the prices reflect that). The inside of our chicken burritos was chicken. Nothing else. Not even spices. Just shredded chicken breast. The green chile had no zing. It ranked 1 on a picante scale of 1-10. The guacamole was a small step up from Taco Bell. Do not order this. The service ranged from very good to terrible. * Very good - Sergio was attentive and delivered all our items quickly. Additional drinks came right away. * Terrible - I got the bill and the beer prices were wrong. I pointed this out to Sergio and he said: "old beer card". Yes, he told me that the laminated card with the beer prices that he handed to me contained "old" prices. He did not correct the bill. Was OK. I reduced his tip by 2x the beer price differential. - Paper napkins - Low-end Proware flatware. +/- Wi-Fi. They have it, but the password did not work. Even when typed in by our waiter. read more

This place is huge!!! We walked in with 9 people at 5pm and got seated right away. Great service all around - server was friendly, timely with everything, food came out fast. I got the Saturday special carnitas. They were amazing!! I had 3 tortillas full and still had a lot of meat leftover to bring home. The regular house margarita was also really good. After reading some negative reviews here beforehand, I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was!! I'll definitely be back again. read more

A lot of people seem to like Los Arcos, including a few of my friends who recommended that restaurant. Unfortunately I am not one of them. The place is huge, and the atmosphere dated, with big paintings of the owners sons on the walls, but that could be charming if the service and the food were good. The margaritas are overly sweet, and when I asked the waiter if he could do something about it, he offered me to buy a shot of tequila to pour in the drink. The manager asked if I wanted one from a new batch, which would not help since it's the same recipe. So forget about the marg, I traded for a beer. Chips and salsa were fine, and one of my friends who goes there regularly asked for the spicy salsa, that one if really hot! The food is so-so, I guess you have to know what to order on the menu (once again according to that same friend.) We did not see our waiter much, even though the huge place was mostly empty on a Thursday night, and we never got any water refill. But then maybe he was avoiding us after the margarita fiasco. They sure forgot about the water refills, but not about charging for the few pieces of lime we had asked for (3 of us paid extra). Now that's a great way to make sure we leave the restaurant a little sour... Anyway, after that visit with a group of friends, I know a few of us won't go back. I was driving through the area and saw the pretty looking building and figured it must be good to have such a nice building ...super wrong. Where do I begin with such a disappointing restaurant. According to google, there is a Taco Bell 0.3 miles away. That would be money better spent than here. We were given a cold, "how many" by hostess still chomping on chips. She started walking without letting us know to follow her so we both ended looking dumb--us standing at the "wait to be seated" sign and her at the table looking around for us. Ordered the carne asada and got a dried up piece of meat that could pass for beef jerky. The waiter was shocked when I asked about the 1 tortilla my plate came with. I'm not a tortilla fiend or anything but one seems pretty slim for an entire plate of food. Paid extra for a side of tortillas, which consisted of 1 tortilla. On the way out , the same vacant stare hostess cashed us out. Took tab and card without so much as acknowledging a human was standing in front of her. I think she was till chomping on chips too. The Absolute WORST SERVICE you can imagine. Usually they have great service, but not this time. We had to bus our own table twice....food and plates were left stacked when we ordered ice cream for the table....we all sat there with filthy plates and napkins in front of us the entire time. Waited 10. minutes to get spoons for the ice cream. The order for food took over an hour to get ordered and an hour to get...another server had to bring us chips and salsa many times because we had no food....unreal. Had to ask for silverware. Was never asked for a drink order. Was given ONE glass of water, semi warm the entire 2 + hours we were there for a basic meal. There was no excuse. They were not short handed, etc. it was a week night and not that busy. I will let everyone I know hear about this. It was beyond ABSURD!!!! Then they kept the itemized ticket so we couldn't see what we charged for, or if we had gratuity already added. The entire thing was unacceptable. read more

Its been awhile since I've been here but my wife has never been here so I thought I would let her experience it herself. We have had the Los Arcos express located off of 92nd Ave. It wasnt bad but the similarity in the two places is if you order "Hot" chili , its hot !!! We arrived at the opening on a Sunday and were seated immediately and there was a lot to choose from with tv's available. The prices range from $ 10 -17. Typical pricing, some things on the menu were higher than other restaurants and came with less side items. But the one thing that I will give a thumbs up to is the variety you had to choose from. I really dont stray from what I usually get but this time I actually was torn between 2 different things that other restaurants havent on thier menu. My wife and son both enjoyed thier meals I think I would have enjoyed mine but it was so hot , temperature wise I couldnt eat it but I did eat it when i got home and it was . So if you havent been here , its pretty good for the area, but there is better. read more

I know this place has been around for a long time. But being around for a long time doesn't mean that the food is really good. Just because a restaurant is been around years and years does not make it a good restaurant and the food here is very mediocre. I ordered the Beef and bean burrito smothered with avocado sauce and some sour cream. Ground beef was very very greasy. And hardly any beans. The way the menu reads is that it is half beans and half ground beef, which is very confusing because they actually just mixed the ground beef and the beans. It was very soupy runny and, very greasy. My mom had the flautas and the chili relleno . She said it was very mediocre as well. With so many new Mexican restaurants opening with different menus and different items. You shouldn't have to go to a restaurant that's been around for many many years because it's been around many years. Really there are better restaurants. I would say to skip this one. It really had no taste and food is less than mediocre. The service however, was good. We went on a Sunday night. It was busier to the end of the night when we left but around four or 5 o'clock on a Sunday it wasn't too bad. Our server was great. He was very attentive and polite. His service was great. I have no qualms about that. It's really the food. My husband and I went to Los Arcos last night for our dinner date as we often do. We have been here several times. It's not the service or food that we had an issue with. Check this out, Ricky our server was actually very polite and checked on us regularly. We had a strawberry Margarita which was NICE.... I was feeling care free to say the least. We both ordered the shrimp fajitas platter so that we could have lunch for today. We had chips n salsa. No desert. She gave us to go boxes then brought our bill stating it would be $87.60 I really didn't think much of it and we were going to leave a $20.00 tip for her trouble. Breaking it down now that means 40 was our meal. 10 for salsa n chips and $24. Plus taxes... eehhhhh a bit high but again wasn't complaining. My husband sent his card back with Ricky to pay the bill. When we recieve it back we went to sign an extra 20 for a tip. Woohhaaaaaa, NOOOOOOOO! IT CHANGED TO $197.00 my husband asked me is this a pandemic change ..... I said uumm let's give them the opportunity to fix and change it. Let's see what they say and give benefit to doubt. Don't allow yourself to get upset. I'm sure it's a simple mistake as they can happen. I reassured my husband. After 15 min of waiting we decided to walk to the register. He said don't worry it's fixed. We asked for the itemized statement. They couldn't or didn't want to. He just wrote Void on the old receipt. We ended up getting 4 reciepts... only one in which was actually correct. Even then did he say its actually 76. 67 or something close to that minus the desert. We didnt have a desert we said again. We looked at each other like what in Sam's hell were they trying to pull. The owner said im very sorry for the confusion. Your tab was confused with the table next to yours. Then the other waiter said well that table had paid and alr a already left 45 minutes before us and they Paid *CASH*....... can you smell scam? I was very un nerved by this. I just cant believe that any business would take that big of chance to take advantage of a customer in the community whos lived here and been coming for over 30+ years. Me and my bride were driving around running errands, and it was a little after lunchtime, and we were craving Mexican food. We weren't to familiar with the restaurants in that part of town, and then we came across this little gem. Without giving away my age, I had seen this restaurant some years ago when the Westminster Mall was still around, but never got around to eating there. Anyway we stopped in, and we were greeted by the hostess, who was very nice. And then we were greeted by our waiter who was also very nice and energetic. He interacted with us, as well as his other tables, and he had a smile on his face throughout the whole time. I wish I could remember his name, so that I could acknowledge him correctly. My wife had some sort of Taco dish, and I had the Sopapilla Supreme meal with Steak. We were very impressed with our meals, as well as the inviting atmosphere. Ask for green chili on the side or else there will be very little inside the burrito and it will be very dry to eat, again, mostly potatoes. The thing that blew my mind and the reason for the low rating is they charged me $1.50 to add cheese!!!!! $1.50 for cheese on a burrito that costs $2.50!!!!!! I have sadly only been here four times (Westminster is a bit of a run for me most days). I disparage this lack of frequent return because they have the best Chile Rellenos I have ever had (better than the absolutely fantastic ones that Ajuua USED to have) and on top of that I can't get over the absolute family-owned-feel of this place: they have oil (I think, sorry, not a painter) paintings on canvas (again, I think) of the Patriarch and Matriarch that founded the restaurant, and it's glorious (amusing too, but I am not mocking this at all in any way, I love it). The place is busy as all get out so be prepared to wait during peak times. I found this place during a lunch run while working and used the "is the parking lot busy" method of assessment; at 1 in the afternoon the lot was almost full, one a Wednesday I believe. When I went inside someone immediately noticed us, came over, greeted and seated us. There were only a few tables empty which confirmed that the parking lot was a customer indicator and not a staff one. Our waiter came moments after and was polite & efficient (there's a certain level of polite terseness that bespeaks a skilled waitperson who knows what they are about; they know exactly how to get the information they need while being pleasant at the same time. This is an art). Drinks were served promptly and since we did not order appetizers the food came quickly as well (iirc 10-15 minutes which is fantastic during a busy time). This is where it hit me: this place is amazing. My Chile Rellenos were perfectly crisp with the right amount of batter and frying, the insides were properly cooked and the pepper delicious. Additionally the cheese itself was flavorful and full, not just run of the mill blandness masked by the joy of poblanos. They served their chile on the side so as not to ruin the shell of the relleno and the portion of chile was more than sufficient for even the most devout chile lover (which stood on it's own as delicious). Beans and rice were cooked perfectly, not greasy or over-oily in any way and their tortilla chips (served before hand of course) were fresh, crisp and light without being thin or brittle. Service was excellent: our waiter kept a close eye on us at a distance, visiting only when he saw or anticipated a need for his assistance, was pleasant and very clearly capable. This next part isn't necessarily service related but it's a close cousin: their bathrooms are perhaps the cleanest I've ever seen in a restaurant. We all know Clean, OK and Nasty by smell and this was no cover-up with artificial scents to fool the unwary. It was completely clean. I'm not saying I'd eat off the floor (I have limits) but I'll be damned if it wasn't clean enough... this really impressed the heck out of me. Bathrooms that are frequented by a family of four are hard enough to keep this clean on a daily basis. I'm so over the moon I'm scratching my brain trying to recall any other positives but my memory fails where their service, atmosphere and food do not. read more

I'm pretty picky about Mexican food. The restaurant atmosphere was nice, chips and salsa were good, service was decent-had a party of 18, so fast enough for how many we had. We did have to ask for several things(water, Margaritas, extra napkins, silverware, etc.) I had shredded beef flautas, I expected deep fried where you pick them up with your hands, they we lightly fried, but the meat was delicious and they were smothered in guac and sour cream... very good. Margs were pretty delicious as well. Rice is always my hang up, I like traditional Spanish rice. I hate when there are vegetables in it...that always determines if I will go back...if I can make better rice, I don't need to go out to eat Mexican food. My biggest issue was the end of meal...I'm not sure if this person was the owner, manager or whoever she was, flat out came over and hired my father in law...which confused us all, because we thought this was someone the family knew personally, but then came up and grabbed my neice and hugged her closely like we were all close. My neices parents have been super careful through covid, as have we. She tried to hug me and I politely declined. Right now even though some of us are vaccinated, and we are STILL experiencing a global pandemic, we are still trying to be careful with those that cannot be vaccinated, ie. Our children... I completely understand the Latino mindset of treating people like family, but please do not go up and touch people you don't know during a pandemic...this is honestly why this place lost a whole star and why many people are still nervous to go out. read more

A friend took me here and recommended it highly. We had the fasoule tripe soup, the Mexican shrimp cocktails, a side of rice, and Cadillac margaritas. I never had fasoule before, and my friend recommended dumping everything from the side dish in the bowl: chopped raw onion, red pepper, spices, and lime. It was amazing, one of the best soups I've ever had, which is why I'm rounding up from 3.5 to 4 stars. The shrimp cocktail and rice were alright, but failed to impress. We ate here last night because I was craving salsa and chips. I think I got burnt out from Mexican food when that's all I ate and dated back in my late teens and early 20's. lol Use to go to Mexico all the time and still go these days for vacation. I like Hot, but most places here are mild, where as I'm used spicy and hot..and yes the two are different in the meanings, yet similar at the same time. Virgin Bloody mary - I love when the salt the rims, usually I ask, but I forgot, and yet it came out how I like it. And it was spicy without me having to ask. Guacamole - this was a good portion and I had a lot left to use on my dinner Hubby had -Tacos El Carbons - I had one and the steak was soo tasty and I love the big slices of avocado on them and how fresh it was. Just like Playa de car.. I had the Supreme Sopapilla - this was HUGE and I had a quarter left to take home, only cuz I stuffed myself like a baked tomato. There was soo much steak, which I opted for and chose the green chile. The pork was tender and the mixture, just came together. I never had that before and it was a toss up between the milanese, chicken mole or this...Well needless to say I will be going back here to try the other two. I take pictures almost everywhere I go, they may not be the best, but it gives you an idea what you're in for. I also try to get pics of the inside.. If I were a photographer they'd be better,but I am rushing to take the picture, so I can eat..:-) I don't know why people say it's not authentic, but then again depends on where you visit and eat, because in playa de car, there's more of a European twist and a Lot of Italian food there as opposed to cabo san lucas, juarez and Mexico City. Mmmmm.... I love Mexican food it's all I know. Didn't feel like whipping it in the kitchen so I decided to try this today. So the service is great. They are fast, friendly. The costumer service is great.... .... but the food is not so much. I got the enchilada plate. With chicken and an egg on top with beans and rice. The beans where stupid fire. They where bomb as all hell. The rice was ok the enchiladas did not really have any flavor. Every time I used my fork to separate a bite. water would come out I never seen watery enchiladas. The egg on top was not over medium how I order but over easy would of been fine but the egg wasn't cooked all the way. It still had the raw egg white... the soda (coke) was crisp though it was really good!!!! Let me start off by saying, if you're idea of a nice meal out is Applebee's or Chilli's, then you will probably enjoy this place. We arrived around 6pm on a Friday evening and had a slight wait, no problem with waiting as it was nice out so we waited outside for a while. I was debating ordering a margarita while I waited, and wished I would have so we would of realized to not stay for dinner. This is definitely the most sugary, non-authentic margarita I have ever tasted. To make it drinkable, we ordered a beer and half a dozen lime slices to squeeze into it and that made it a bit bearable. As for food, we ordered the chili con queso to start. This was literally a can of chilli with a can of cheese heated up....not so bueno. For our entree, we split the steak and chicken fajitas, which were okay. The qualitiy was meh and it was under seasoned. Our server was quick and nice, but overall the food and drink combination was pretty horrific. From what we observed, aside from the staff, no one in this restauraunt has ever been to, or will ever go to Mexico. So if that's what you're looking for, enjoy! read more

My fiance introduced me to this place because it's always been a go-to for his family... and I've never looked back! It's by far some of the best Mexican food I've ever had! It's where we take all of our visitors (who like spicy food anyway)! The place is huge, so we are almost always seated right away. The service is always friendly and almost always good. We tried this place on a whim we were headed to another Mexican restaurant but its a smaller restaurant. First the Micheladas were really good. And the chips and salsa were good but a bit different from most salsas in my opinion. I want to say they used some chicken bullion or something different. Now on to the entree. The cheese enchiladas were just average. And the other entree was a deep fried taco in a red sauce, and it was good the shell was crispy and delicate. now on to dessert I messed up and got the fried ice cream. Its a hard pass. We were craving Mexican Food, we loved the service but the food didn't come in generous portions and eventually we felt like it was time to collect the check. I ordered this shrimp platter, it came with hardly any shrimp-- they were delicous so I was mildly disappointed with how small they were. I loved the guacamole, the chips and their spicy dipping sauce. My boyfriend ordered some shrimp tacos and a margarita and he wasn't satisfied at all. I had the Super Burro, which is just a large smothered burrito and my wife had the huevos con chorizo. The chorizo wasn't too bad either and had good flavor. Now for the service: from when we were seated until when we received our drinks was about 20 minutes. Our food probably took another 30 minutes, and by the time our bill showed up we had been at this restaurant for over an hour an a half. Highlight of the night: when you come to this place for your birthday, they put a sombrero on your head and sing to you at your table. There are so many Mexican restaurants in this area thought I'd give this one a go. Really unimpressed and won't be back. I ordered the taco salad. The taco shell was burnt. The salad itself was very dry...Usually salads have some kind of salad dressing or sauce. When I asked for some salsa, they said they'd have to charge me for it. That is like McDonald's charging for ketchup. Their taco salad was also very bland. Not a great salad. The taste of the chicken was kind of gross. read more

Not too shabby. My in-laws like their Tacos al Carbon. It's not my favorite, go-to Tex-Mex location, but it is better than some other places I know (i.e., Las Delicias [taste] and even Haciendas [taste for price]). I know that there's a plenty of fans of this place and I can see why, but I can find better tasting tex-mex elsewhere. read more

We have been coming to this restaurant for many years (since 1994), back in the days when they had a designated smoking area next to the kitchen. I am hesitate to provide two stars but only because the margarita was tasty. Prior to last night the food was always excellent however last night the food was the worst. A bean and beef burrito smothered green with lettuce, tomato, and cheese tasted sour and proved to be bad upon returning home very ill (details do not need to be provided).
