    Kalbi burnt ends!
    Karime H.

Loosey's is s great little spot just 5 minutes from UF registration office. We happened to run into this establishment after touring UF. To be honest it looks like a old pub but we were pleasantly surprised how great the food was. We started with the Kalbi burnt ends which were great with its kimchi mayo. Then we shared the Nashvillle hot chic-fil-loosey which was fried perfectly. The mac-n-cheese which was creamy and delicious and finally the enormous chili dog topped there pbr chili that has beef and smoked sausage. All in all we had a great experience and can't forget about there great draft beer menu!!!!

I asked the internet for the best chicken wings in Gainesville and it sent me here to the downtown location of Loosey's. I did not realize that today was a playoff day for the Gators but it worked out well as I arrived early enough. If there is sports going on, expect Loosey's to be packed and it definitely filled up by the time I left. Great service today by Elliott who ensured that I had the beers I needed and the wings. The wings were excellent. Cooked properly, medium quantity of meat on each one and only one was completely burned. The rest were tasty. Fun joint for beers in downtown. Don't miss out on the wings and the burgers looked good too! [Review 356 of 2025 - 2008 in Florida - 23918 overall]

Ok. You walk in amd BAM! Total dive bar. But you stay because this is the decision you and your people have FINALLY made. Well....glad we stayed. We had the Brisket Kalbi burnt ends, homemade kimchi with kali BBQ sauce. You must order if you have this palate and you must eat it all together as one bite. Then...YUM! We also had the mac and cheese, super yummy, cavatappi with creamy cheese sauce and a bit of panko topping. The Chili dog was a footlong and had their homemade chili with smoked sausage laying on top. ALL super delicious. Ok let's talk fries...Fresh cut and hot with a perfect mouth feel. Kosher salt and...well we fought over them. Ourselves answered all of our questions, made recommendations, and was very attentive. We enjoyed this spot just a bit away from campus. Oh they also have an extensive beer on tap list.

Was in GNV for the first time for Fest and Loosey's was on my list of must try places. Friends had gone there the night before I got into town so wasn't sure I was going to get here, but we needed a break between sets so sitting outside and ordering was super easy. Food came out very quick considering how many people were there and that they had a full line up of bands going inside. Food was also very very good. Burnt ends were perfectly cooked with a nice mix of flavors and the mac and cheese had a nice crunch on top while still being creamy. Would absolutely come back and would love to explore more of the excellent sounding menu.

Loosey's is the perfect place to go for great bar food and vibes. The employees were all super nice and food/drinks came out quick. For drinks I tried the Florida Mule and some kind of mixed berry sour, and both drinks were great! We ordered their wings in hot buffalo and garlic parm, as well as their truffle fries. The wings were super juicy and perfectly crispy, and the sauce was just enough to coat each chicken but not be too overpowering. I wish the hot buffalo could've been spicier but that's also just my personal preference. Garlic parm fries were great and I loved how they used fresh garlic in their sauce. Fries were homemade and the truffle sauce was delicious.

Was a bit hungry and I was looking for Steak Bites. The Steak Frites was the closest I could come to it. A little too much gristle and not enough flavor. It was a pretty good size for $22. I ate a good portion of it. The sides were not best selections. The fries did taste a bit decent. My wife wasn't crazy with her Burger, as they undercooked it and she had to send it back. The service is a tad bit slow, looks like they can pick up the pace a little. Place is a pub, I can't say it's a bright lighted place. It could use a little more life. Would I come back? Maybe. I give it a 3.5

The Chic-fil-loosey was excellent, large, crunchy and juicy.

Very cool place. Went for lunch. Had the Kalbi burnt ends. I make burnt and have ordered my share of burnt ends from restaurants. If you never had burnt ends or love them, they are a MUST. They were fantastic. Burger was big, the beef was excellent. Fish & Chips were very good. The cod was flaky and crunchy. The Chic-fil-Loosey sandwich was very good. Big thick piece, very crunchy and juicy. The only thing that would've made the sandwich better would be a special Loosey sauce to put on it. We will definitely be back.

Nice atmosphere and courteous bartender and staff in general! My burger was cooked to order and tasted great!

They do Belgians right here, but there were also sours, gose, pilsner, IPAs, porter, brown ale, and some European favorites like a winter warmer, hefeweizen and Marzen. The BEER: Wicked Child Belgian Strong Ale 14% ABV... sips like it is under 10%, smooth and delicious, just very slightly boozy. This is the strongest beer in Gainesville The Snow Gose 4 5% ABV... everything you would expect, sour and salty goodness Pucker Round fruited Gise 5.5% ABV... holy wow, a little tonic, and a lot of pucker. Good. Key lime and passion fruit Lord of Flashheart Belgian blonde 6.5% ABV... yes this is a grand blonde, well balanced and easy drinking Queenie Belgian amber 6% ABV... I love this amber, especially the warm hug I feel after a few sips. It mellows as it warms. Saint Sydney Belgian Dubbel 7.5% ABV... Oh yes, yes, yes, yes! This IPA has character. If I had to classify this brewery it would be a sophisticated craft beer experience. And, if I have any criticism it is that if you open a tab, they keep your card. So not a fan of that, but the overall experience was awesome. Like really awesome. BLACKADDER BREWING does BEER RIGHT!

Absolutely worth going off the beaten path for…read more We stumbled across Public & General while looking for somewhere in Gainesville with good vegetarian options, and the first thing that caught my attention was the fried green tomato sandwich. I saw that on the menu and immediately thought, "Yep. We're going there." And I'm so glad we did. The only thing I would change about the experience is the ordering process. You have to place your order at the bar first, take a number, and then seat yourself so they know where to bring your food. Personally, I would prefer traditional table service, but once we got past that, the food completely won me over. We ordered the fried green tomato sandwich, and it was delicious. Then there were the dill fries. Fresh dill on French fries sounded interesting enough that we had to try them, and they were AMAZING. Such a simple idea, but different from the usual fries you get everywhere else and executed really well. But the biggest surprise of the entire meal? THE COUSCOUS. My partner ordered the vegetable couscous with mushrooms, zucchini and squash, and when I tell you this was the best couscous I have ever had... I mean it. It was so good that before we left, we ordered another one to go. That alone should tell you everything. I love finding restaurants that take familiar ingredients and do something memorable with them. Nothing we had felt boring or like an afterthought, especially the vegetarian options. Public & General feels like one of those neighborhood places you could easily miss if you didn't know it was there, but now that we know about it, it has officially made our Gainesville rotation. We don't get to Gainesville often, but anytime we're back in town, we're stopping here. Fried green tomato sandwich: Dill fries: Vegetable couscous: Seriously... get the couscous. We literally took another order home.
