Great beers on tap and for a very reasonable price. The crowd is a great eclectic mix. They seem to always have something interesting going on whether it be a competition, swing night, or even a WWF viewing party. The food is VERY reasonably priced with HUGE portions (get the onion rings). The atmosphere is very comfy and the music was not too loud. The best part, for me at least, was the servers. They were willing to answer all sorts of questions- about the beers, the food, the events- anything. Excellent, excellent customer service. I will be back for sure. read more

Loosey's was a great spot to watch performances at Fest 10. I never had the Bloody Mary that everyone else is speaking of solely because I don't drink them but the tribute glasses they gave out that weekend were awesome. There is a patio outside to hang out at if being inside isn't your thing. read more

I've been here a handful of times with friends only for drinks. Haven't had their food yet so no opinion there. The atmosphere is fun and inviting for groups and friends to hang out. I probably wouldn't bring a date here as it can be tough to converse with how loud it is inside. The outside back area is nice. It's also a little dark on the inside. Will have more to say as I get more experience here. read more

Loosey's is a great time. The owner Dan is a great guy and knows his beer. He bartends a lot :) The food is quite yummy. Their fries sprinkled truffle oil are soo good with the Chokolat they have on tap. (if you like stouts and fries, that is.) Their wings are pretty good too.Their salads are also delicious and quite big. They only carry american brews (tons of microbrews), which I think is really cool. USA! USA! Right? :) As with most bars, they've got tons of TVs and its a nice laid back place to watch the game. They also have dart boards, if you're into that, along with pool tables and pinball machines. They also have karaoke on saturday nights with a great dj who sings pretty well himself and handles the drunk karaoke'rs pretty well. (DO THIS at least once while you're in Gainesville!) read more

Amanda was a fantastic server, her food and beer selections for everyone was spot on. We had been in Haiti all week and wanted a good burger and this place did not disappoint. This place has a great laid back atmosphere, but a commitment to excellence in good, beer, and service. BTW: The local beer offerings are really good. read more

Came to have a few drinks after dinner downtown. They wouldn't let me in because I had a left over to go container in a plastic bag. Didn't want to walk all the way back to the car to put the food up so left. Not sure but Door guy on 12/30 said can't come in because of doggie bag. read more

Best burger & wings in the Gainesville area!! I love going on the nights when they have the deals on the burgers and wings. The flavor of the wings is unlike any other wing place I've been to. They also have a great selection of beers. I definitely will be returning to eat more! read more

I wasn't too impressed the first time I went here, which was right after they opened. It looked like Market Street, but with a fresh coat of paint and lighting from an insane asylum (from what I've seen in the movies). Their beer selection wasn't that great either - nothing exciting. Well, based on my last visit a few weeks ago, A LOT has changed. They had a much better selection of drafts and the lighting looked better :) We had some fish and chips - which was okay, but I think there was some confusion in the kitchen - causing some of our food to be recooked while the other waited (i.e., the fries were a lil mushy). Not the biggest deal in the world. They had some other interesting looking items on the menu as well. I'll definitely be back! Edit: March 2014 I've come around and upgraded Loosey's. Their food specials are great tasting and very affordable. I especially love the $5 taco tuesdays and their $3.50 monthly beer specials. I don't eat beer, but I hear their Wednesday burger special is awesome. Service is always friendly and their tap list great. read more

Loosey's became one of my favorite restaurants in downtown Gainesville after going there a few times for amazing Breakaway Burlesque shows. I don't think I have ever been disappointed by anything I've ever ordered there. The Dirty South is one of the best fried chicken sandwiches I've ever had and the fries at Loosey's are some of the best fries in town. The fries are also available as delicious truffle fries. They recently tightened up their menu and removed my favorite item, the chicken philly. However, I totally understand that it is more profitable to have a tight menu and they still have amazing food. They regularly have special menu items and cocktails on the weekends as well to change things up. If you are looking for some great food in downtown, Loosey's is one of the best. read more

This place is a toss up in my opinion. I definitely have had some fun nights here when I lived in Gainesville, but I wasn't a regular so the service differed sometimes. I never outright had bad service but I could definitely see a difference between my service and some of the regulars, but that's to be expected. It's still a solid bar with great burgers and I would recommend it. Also- they have a location in Haile Plantation that's pretty great too. read more

Great beer & food, customer/community oriented, plastic straw waste aware. They not only offer the Impossible Burger, but with vegan cheese & vegan mayo by request & you can get their truffle fries without cheese to make those vegan as well. They are definitely setting themselves up to be a treasured signature Gainesville establishment that both locals & visitors will keep coming back to (like Satchels, Reggae Shack, Karma Cream, etc.). read more

I love it here, good mix of grad students, locals, old timers, and cougars. Everyone feels welcome , huge selection of beers , best burger I ever had. I wish they had more options for sides because the whole burger and fries thing is just not reflective of how people eat. They do offer a side salad for an up charge. Suggest baked beans, corn on the cob, grilled seasonal veggies, pasta salad, baked potato. Also a burger needs a pickle spear. read more

Great chicken sliders on special, awesome drinks, and the vibes are amazing with live music go!!

Loosey's embodies the vibe of downtown Gainesville and is unique in that a local or a visitor could enjoy themselves. The servers I've encountered have always been friendly and helpful when it came to recommending menu items. I've had multiple wing flavors and have enjoyed them all, though the sriracha garlic cilantro lime wings were spicier than I expected them to be. If you like some heat, you'll love that flavor. The burgers are great, too. I've even tried the vegetarian (vegan if you don't get the bun buttered) version of a sloppy joe which came with tempeh instead of beef. Very tasty! There are different specials each night, so check the website and menu to see what's being offered. I went on a night when house margaritas were $4. The margarita, which was on the rocks because I don't think frozen is an option, tasted a bit watered down even when it was initially brought to me. Slight disappointment there, but not enough to define my experience. In addition to offering a wide range of great menu items, Loosey's is making strides to be environmentally conscious. I can't remember the name of the initiative, but the idea is to reduce usage of plastic straws by only providing them if requested. There were straws at the bar, but I don't think that servers carry them, so be prepared to ask for one (if you absolutely need it, that is). Props to Loosey's downtown! read more

Found Loosey's through Yelp and decided to have lunch here before the UF v UK game. It definitely has a dive bar-ish feel, but a bit elevated. Great beer selection at their large bar. There is a stage in the corner. I saw advertisements for live bands and karaoke, though there was no performance during our lunch. Our waitress was really nice and helpful. She offered great suggestions both on beer and food. I got the black angus burger medium rare with avocado, caramelized onions, and a fried egg. For my side I had the cucumber salad. Wow! What a burger. I didn't see any ounces, but I would guess a half pound burger, cooked exactly how I requested. The cucumber salad was sweet, tangy and refreshing. I will definitely be back, maybe next time to hear a local band. read more

Yeah man! Go to Looseys for sure!! Some of the best food in the city. Always great beer selections. Clean, friendly, hip, downtown, perfect. 10/10 read more

This is a FUN spot. Big fan of Loosey's, primarily their vibes, and their burger - that burger. I'm not quite sure what it is, but it is always a perfect temperature, and I want to say their pickles are homemade and they are absolutely lovely. Loosey's you sell jars of your pickles? If so, I would like to order 10 jars. Their fries are excellent, well seasoned, and their onion rings are ginormous. Their onion rings appetizer contains about ten giant rings, which are fairly heavily breaded, but a perfect crisp. Given that each time I have eaten here I've had an alcoholic beverage, but I feel good about my judgments. My main complaint is one of the bar backs... specifically the one who is here on Kickball Wednesdays. He is missing him some manners. I asked for barbecue sauce for my onion rings once and he said he'd get it for me, but would have to charge me 50 cents for a small container. A few of my friends have had some negative interactions as well. Listen, I definitely get it that there are a number of people who have had more than they should have to drink, but my personal philosophy is, "kill em with kindness." Anyways, besides that awesome spot, and a good amount of space inside to bop around or have a large group! read more

FRESH! Truffles fries are unbelievable! Wings naked were great. There were four in our party the drinks were well poured & the food is excellent. The caprese panini was spectacular-try adding the fried eggplant as a vegetarian special. The chicken salad sandwich was great with the celery spice. The pulled pork was different with the pickled cole slaw but the burgers are consistently a reason to return! read more

I have went there for lunch, dinner, and takeout. There food is always Awesome! Love love love their burgers. Recommend to everyone.

Fun venue. Good selection of drinks. Excellent burgers. The truffle garlic fries are a must!

This is one of my favorite burgers in Gainesville. They also have a good deal on Tuesday's for$6. I usually go here after games bc it does not get as packed as places on Archer. I will definitely be back read more

I rarely have a burger, but it's a must have here. Always perfectly cooked and high quality.

It's really poor form to serve shots for someone who just moved here (yet has been here 3 times) in a shot glass while you serve shots for people you know in a rocks glass. Perhaps you should treat all of your customers the same. read more

My friend and I go here regularly. However, the passed two times we went we saw roaches not just one but 4. The first time we did we told one of the bartenders and he killed it and left the dead roach right next to the register. The second time we saw 3 in different areas of the bar. Which leads me to believe they have a bigger problem. We will not be visiting again and really hope they handle this situation. read more

I took my kids to eat burger for the dinner. Well, burgers are excellent! I would give 5 stars for the burgers, but the waitress was barely seen when we were there for 45 minutes. I learned to go there with kids better at lunch time or dinner time by finishing before the Karaoke starts around 8:45pm, lol... read more

Spent 2 hours in the place, had 1 drink, 2 appetizers and 4 meals. The fries were cold and because the music started they came around and charged us an additional $10 per person because it's "their live band policy" after we spent well over $100 before the band even came out. If not for the band we would have left but none of us will ever be back. Horrible experience! read more

I came just to dine, and was very pleasantly surprised with the food quality. I ordered a beyond burger with a side of truffle fries and happily ate all of it. The environment wasn't my seen but if you are around definitely try the food. Delicious and affordable. read more

If you are out of town and yelping for a bar with great food. Stop searching. Downtown, great drinks, even better food, and the Jameson is flowing. I've been going to Loosey's before it was Loosey's and I don't see myself stopping anytime soon. I love Joy and the gang. They really do a great job of making you feel welcome (like Cheers but not as depressing.) I love smoking on the patio with a fine ale watching the weirdos pass 1st Ave. I love the food! Those little tacos are delightful! OH MY GOD THE HOT BLACKENED WINGS ARE A MUST!!!! Best bar in Gainesville. Thanks for all the memories guys! read more

If you have a special place in your heart for god-awful karaoke (like I do), then Looseys is the place to be on Saturdays. The drinks are cheap, the bartenders are friendly, and the sounds of disharmony that fill the air will entertain you all night-what more could you ask for? I've only eaten here once, and I don't recall what I got or if I liked it. Perhaps the word I'm looking for is "unmemorable." There's plenty other places to eat downtown though...I go to Looseys to drink! read more

I love it when Doc lets me play with my crayons. Kim Ann did my nails, and I feel wonderful now. Chelsea smells weird.

Description: I discovered Loosey's about a year ago with some friends of mine. We heard that they had $6.00 Wednesday specials on burgers and knowing us, we were in the car and on our way before any of us could suggest another place. I've been three or four times now and I seem to recall good memories. My last visit was about a week ago and I'll focus on that experience a little more. Food & Service: First off, my review is solely based on going to Loosey's on a Wednesday for $6.00 (base price) burgers. I cannot comment on any of their other foods with accurate information besides that they do have specials on other menu items. For the size and quality of the burger for that price, it's pretty unbelievable. You won't find anywhere in Gainesville that can offer the same value. The Top comes close but I haven't heard of any specials on theirs. My burger has for the most part always been cooked to my liking. It might not be perfect every time but again not complaining for the price. I do want to add though that depending on what you add to your burger, that price could go up a lot. I usually just get a fried egg and some cheese for like a buck fifty more. If you're feeling adventurous though, get the parmesan truffle fries - very yummy. I'm also a fan of their garlic aioli as well as their beer mustard. Sauces are twenty five cents each so might as well try one. Service has usually been friendly here but I've noticed they can be slow and unresponsive at times. We had a moody waiter once but with that many people coming in on a Wednesday night, I can understand. Final Thoughts: All in all, I would recommend Loosey's to anyone craving a burger worth eating. I'd say the regular price puts it pretty even with the burgers at The Top but the Wednesday special cannot be beat. The only thing I could find annoying about this place is the lighting is quite dim, seating area isn't too large, and music is sometimes played too loud. At the end of the day, it is a bar. Just a heads up in case you wanted to catch up with some friends and didn't feel like using your "outside voice". read more

Where to begin....I will start by saying I typically enjoy my time here. I have no quarrels with the menu, the food is great. The bar can be hit or miss sometimes the drinks are strong sometimes they aren't and the atmosphere is unmatched. With that being said, the last time two times I've visited I saw roaches. The first time I alerted the bartender and he killed it, and moved on with his night(kinda gross that he just left it where it was) We assumed it was just a one time thing, I get it , it's Florida, its humid, roaches exist. However, I went back recently and saw not one, but THREE roaches crawling in the bar area. I watched them crawl across the register and all over the tap area. Needless to say I will not be back and I hope they get the issue handled. read more

I've gone here a few (3-4) times for the live bands and to try out their local beers/ciders. Their drink selection is good, but the music is usually too loud. Tonight around 5:30pm I went there for dinner, and sat out front since I had my dog with me. I sat for a few minutes without being acknowledged by passing servers. There was an elderly homeless man sitting next to the front door, who continued to talk/yell at passerby's and customers. He began talking to me and my dog, which was fine. But then continued to talk AT me, even after I tried to end the conversation, made it apparent that I was busy reading, and still after I turned my back and ignored him. The servers saw this and did nothing, so I asked to get my order to go. I had ordered the Monday night special, 10 wings for $6. The waitress said it would be $9 if I got it to go. I explained to her that the man was being a disturbance and she said that he does that often, and that they've had to kick him out before. After realizing that I should have left a long time ago, I asked for a to-go box. I went home and upon biting into the wings, saw that they were undercooked and bloody. I will post a picture of them. I have not had good experiences at this establishment. read more

Gosh. Loosey's used to be my favorite. Four years ago, I would have said five stars. Pete behind the bar is amazing. I love him so much. But, the food has gone downhill. Soggy fries, burgers not up to par like they used to be. Wings are still very very good. But, since I had a few bellyaches after burgers and fries, I just can't give them a higher rating. Used to come here weekly--twice a year nowadays. read more
