I've heard Common Man rave about Loops for years now. Friends have shared Loops fries with me in the past in the office, but I just had not made it there yet for a meal. Yesterday for St. Patty's Day they were doing a "What's in the Bag" deal. You'd order the special for $10 and it would be a surprise what food items were in the bag for you. Sounded like a deal to me. So we got two "What's in the Bag". Now I know, I was playing a game of chance, and if I really wanted fries, I should have just ordered fries. Well, neither bag came with their famous fries. So I was a tad disappointed, but I know that is on me. I believe I got a classic gyro, and it was delicious. It was huge, I could only eat half for lunch, but I was pleasantly surprised that I really enjoyed it. I also really liked the tzatziki sauce that was in the bag. I would have drenched my gyro and fries (if I had gotten any) with that. In the future, I will not tempt fate, I will just order what I want. I don't know if I am as big of a fan of Loops as Common Man is, but I will be back. Their gyro is delicious. read more

Noticed this was on the DDD list and when we drove by it looked bare and didn't know if it was open. Of course with covid we have these apprehensions. Circled the block and came back and wow what a gem and nice surprise! The fetafire fries have just enough heat and the Titan gyro was amazing and the tzatziki sauce was in point. Full and flavorful and so was the Italian beef w the hot giardiniera, and when they say hot, they mean it. The dining area has a great feel and was very inviting. Loops has been a pleasant surprise in Columbus. I'm able to get a good greek style gyro that'll fill me up and not break the bank. It has all the components I look for in a gyro, creamy tzatziki sauce, fresh veggies, salty gyro meat, warm fluffy pita. Great for a grab and go when I'm hungry, lazy, and craving a gyro. The first time I went I grabbed some chili cheese fries as well just because I love chili cheese fries and almost always end up ordering them when I see them on a menu. I got it with onion and mustard just to try it as it was meant to be. The mustard didn't do much for me, wasn't my favorite flavor combo. The fries were nice and crispy though, the chili not too memorable. Got just the loop fries on subsequent visits and must say they are better. I have had Loops catering before but this was my first time dining. I am a big eater but couldn't quite finish the last few bites of my Italian beef. It was very flavorful. This place was so good we literally went back hours later. The staff recognized us. I got the dipped Italian beef sandwich and both my girlfriend and I thought it was a hit. This is the brick and mortar location of a really great food truck. We went last month when we were down in that area already. Due to COVID-19, they had all indoor seating pushed to one side and roped off, but three outdoor tables with umbrellas were available to use. They did mostly carry out business while we ate there. The Chicago-style Italian beef is a favorite here. The Greek food options are also quite tasty! I haven't tried the Chicago-style hot dogs or any of the other menu options yet. I'm sure we will be back to try those others! If we just lived closer, this would be a go-to spot when we don't feel like cooking! read more

Ordered the Clark Street gyro and fries for carry out. I'm about 5 minutes away by car and by the time I got home the food was still piping hot. I had to wait to eat it. Fries were crispy and delicious. You can split a regular between 2 and have plenty. Definitely worth the price. read more

I'll be honest, I never knew what Loops was and the name kind of threw me as I thought it was cereal or something. Never really ventured to find out more. Then I found out it had Chicago based foods, Gyros, and more, so I said let's give it a shot. Boy am I glad we did. My fiance got the feta fire and enjoyed it. I got the Lake Street bbq. It was phenomenal. Anytime you put fries on a sandwich, sub, pita, etc I am all about it. And the bbq sauce was very very tasty, you could tell it wasn't just some generic bbq sauce. I also got a side of the chili cheese fries which were very tasty as well. I will definitely be back to try the chili cheese dog and the italian beef as those both caught my eye as well. Our only complaint was that our food was very messy, spilling out, needed a fork to finish the end. But hey, sometimes the best tasting food is messy! I had been to Loops a couple of times pre-Covid, but this was my first visit since then. It was not as good as before. My friend and I popped in at about 6:00 pm on a Tuesday, and there were hardly any other customers. A few people stopped in for to-go orders, and there was a couple next to us, but that was it for the dinner rush I guess. I ordered a Loops Dog, which is basically a Chicago style deal. I was seated in a spot that let me see behind the counter while my food was prepared, and was not impressed with the process or lack of urgency. There were three guys behind the counter to handle our order, but only one was moving (slowly) to put things together. I watched as he put the hot dog on a bun, then took it back out and set it on the counter. Apparently the bun selected had something wrong with it, because he tossed it in the trash and grabbed another - all the while my dog was sitting there on the counter getting cold. He waited until my fries were done, then assembled my hot dog. The bun was super stale, the dog was now luke-warm at best, but at least the toppings were fine. The fries were as expected, but I'm not a fan of the generic frozen coated fries that everyone, including Loops, seems to be using now. It's cheaper and better to make fresh fries, but whatever. My buddy ordered a gyro, and he called it "soggy". read more

I'm not quite sure what all the hype is about. I enjoy trying new places and decided to give this one a try, especially since I'm from the Chicago area. Walking in, I had high expectations. The decor and tribute to the Chicago Loop were impressive, and the fries were fantastic! However, the Italian beef left much to be desired. While it looked appetizing, the meat lacked flavor. Even when ordered dipped, the bread just tasted wet with a faint hint of beef. It reminded me of store-bought sliced beef cooked in water and low-quality broth. If this is their standard sandwich, I'd recommend skipping it. First time here, for lunch yesterday with a co-worker. Arrived before noon and there was no one in line so we ordered and got seated quickly (then came the crowd). I had a falafel gyro (they call it wrap) and got fries for us to share, with an extra cup of tzatziki for dipping. My friend got the Italian Beef, thinking it was more of a hoagie, but it wasn't so she was disappointed. She will choose more wisely next time. This place absolutely rocked. The Italian Beef sandwich was amazing with tender beef and sharp provolone, but what made it was the au jus that came on the side. You could have given that to me in an IV it was so good. The service was very quick and polite. The store was LOUD because there was a lot of people there when we were there, but overall it was still very clean. My wife said the spanakopita was the best she had ever eaten, and my son couldn't stop raving about the gyro rolls. I wish we lived closer to hit this place more often. For $16 and some change I got a decent half chewy chocolate chip cookie, a dry brownie, a delicious feta and green onion gyro, and a similarly sized spanakopita with light flaky phyllo crust just as it should be. Not bad but not great. No complaints. Took 13ish minutes which is fast for carry out IMO. read more

Although I'm always a fan of the dogs (Vienna beef franks), the star of this show is always the fries. Their French fries are cooked to order, the ideal thickness for crunch-to-flesh ratio, and tossed with parmesan cheese and some Greek seasoning that makes it absolute potato heaven. This place is great! A friend recommended this place to me and I can't thank him enough. I've had the Clark Street and the Loops Dog. The Loops Dog, if you get it charred, is addictive. They garnish it with relish, celery salt, sport peppers, etc. I am a hot dog naturalist, it's usually ketchup and a bun for me, but the way they do their dogs, it's special. Very good gyro and excellent fries. Ask for a side of the house made bbq sauce for your fries. Tzatziki sauce is wonderful and they have a spicy version. Try the gyro rolls, a fun spin on an egg roll. My only disappoint was no fountain drinks, or lemonade; Loop's only had 20oz fat pop, no 20oz diet or caffeine free. I went to Loops for lunch on a Sunday. It was not busy. The person at the cashier was very helpful. She explained everything on the menu and answered my questions. She also provide recommendations which I appreciated. I decided to ordered a take-out order. It was a chicken greektown, falafel, and fries. The overall cost was over $11. In general, the overall menu is inexpensive. The chicken greektown was good. It was overstuffed with cubed chicken, peppers, and onions. The feta melted a little by the time I got to my office. For this reason, I recommend having the feta to the side if you get the greektown to go. The falafel was not as good. I wish I read the reviews before I ordered it. I agree with most reviewers. Salt was needed in the falafel. The hummus with it was ok. It was bit runny which makes sense if you are dipping the falafel in it. The fries were great! They are made to order so they are crispy. Little decor hinting of the Chicago owners where the loop train station went all around downtown Chicago and had major stops for good eats, this place brought that little memory with them. Saw Loops on Triple D so I was super excited to try it upon my move to Columbus. I finally made my way there and was extremely underwhelmed and disappointed. I visited on a Friday night and ordered the Italian beef + sausage special with peppers - dipped and a chili on the side. The beef was flavorless. I've had Italian beef multiple times in my life and this tasted nothing like how it should. The chili was also off and not good at all. I took it to go and "doctored" it up when I got home, but the base was so overpowering it was hard for anything else to mask it. I'd be open to trying loops again and ordering something else simply because of the experiences other Yelpers have had. Maybe it was a bad day? read more
