This location seems to always be bustling with people. The place is packed with a lot of drugstore items. I stepped into this location to specifically see the prices of their Hawaii food items for out of town guests. Quite expensive considering I can get these elsewhere for cheaper. However I did end up getting a gift bag for $3.99 that I needed and was pained to pay that much for but it was convenient. The is the UPS Store that people have a hard time finding as well open til around 11 pm. Toher than that it like any other Longs. But 5 stars being the only UPS store in Kaimuki/Kahala area open late. read more

The local Longs Drugs was bought by CVS a couple of years ago and is the predominate drug store option in Hawaii. The good news is that the stores still carry many "made in Hawaii" items that I have become dependent on. Local salt, sodas, mochi mix, tropical pancake mix, nuts, musubi and sushi supplies, local coffees and even local vodka are still on the shelves. They also carry all the traditional health care merchandise and have a pharmacy. I've used the pharmacy once, at this location and had no issues. This location is open 24/7 The service is a mixed bag. Sometimes a clerk will help you find something and other times, they say, not my department. Prices are reasonable, especially sale prices. There is a covered parking lot that occasionally I can snag a parking space. Parking is tight. read more

Same as it ever was. I have shopped at the Kahala Mall Longs Drugs since childhood. Though it had been many years since I moved to the mainland, it still looked relatively the same as it had on my last visit. Albeit with some slight refreshing of the store. Although the chain was bought by CVS many years ago, it still seems to retain the same charm as before as the go-to store for locals. While the store could use a renovation, I am okay with the old-timey look as it is a nice reminder of yesteryear. read more

The local place to get your necessities... Soon as the Sunday ads come out we scan and head right for our favorite local Long's and this Kahala Mall location really isn't mine but is one if I'm ever in the area which I was today since I was here for an errand. This mall location is a bit smaller than the usual making it less to find the usual items found at other locations but does offer all the usual services like their pharmacy and photo. Though realizing they have a sale item I was looking for personally didn't ask for help but had the hardest time finding the item to only give up is quite frustrating as if it's on sale it should be prominently displayed which they don't often do so and since this isn't my usual store I don't know it as well. Having two multiple entrance does make it easy though when it's close to the mall's closing time they do close the entrance which get annoying lol but is a great convenience for me a few times when I needed prescription badly or looking for that item it has saved me greatly and will always appreciate the convenience it gives. Longs pharmacy at Kahala mall always busy and everytime I drop off my prescription I tell them I'll be back to pick up Today i went to pick up my prescription 1 day after I dropped off and they still didn't have my meds ready . In the past i experienced the same situation my doctor calls in my prescription than I'll go later in the evening and still not ready . This location is always busy with so many people and the lines for the pharmacy may or may not be long. The long time staff here are helpful and friendly. They seem to really care about the store which is a plus. The sales are good and even better with a coupon. The prices are pretty outrageous without the coupon. I really like how longs still caters to the locals with our favorite snacks, supplies and foods. It's nice to see the shelves lined with kaki mochi, lihing powder, haupia mix, ramen and shrimp chips for snacking. I really like how the do it yourself aisle includes Asian fix it items like small drainers, clothes pins, musubi molds. Longs is very unique to the island in the products they sale. The pharmacy lines are painful and it's not the fault of the employees. Omg..the customers picking up medicine asks the most inane questions taking up the counter time while the lines build. Perhaps this location could use a major renovation. The air conditioner went kaput so the mall entrance is closed. There are two large hoses pumping air into the store. But it blocks the sidewalk and road adjoining to the walkway. So there is a longer walk to the only store entrance. Found the items I needed and went to pay (the ones near the mall entrance were not open) and there were only two cashiers open. Long lines. I chose the one near the photo department. When I got there the cashier apologized for wait (nice) but the computer continued to be slow. She told the woman behind me to go the next line because she was closing, her supervisor told the woman they would be opening a lane. New air conditioning and new computers. read more

Horrible! The staff here are awful! They try to get you to do their work for them by telling u to have your doctor contact Medicare vs them properly processing Medicare part B drugs and medical equipment or them contacting your doctor (vs you)! Then they don't get it done anyway! And send you chasing your doc and Medicare on your own! They are specifically licensed in this state to do this but won't because they're either incompetent or don't want to be bothered. Not the Longs drugs we've been going to for over 65 years! If the staff is has too much to do or can't serve their customers properly they should send them elsewhere or other stores so they can provide decent service. The staff are fine except for a mgr (Will) that kept berating cashier (Celine) for asking about a price of a copy (New York Times) that the customer before was purchasing. I guess the printed price is $6.00, but the Hawaii price is more than that. Why don't they put a sign, or a sticker on the paper ( by the price) to make it easier to ring up? He kept saying the same thing over and over very LOUDLY in front of customers. What kind of manager is that? Is that how you treat your employees? Shopping at Kahala Mall in Honolulu, Hawaii... I had a coupon for $5 from CVS. It was emailed to me. I felt like I should use it right away before I forgot about it - and because it was going to expire tomorrow. Locally, CVS is called Longs Drugs Store in Hawaii. Residents enjoy the famous yellow and red Sunday newspaper insert - the Longs weekly ad. They have some great deals and coupons! This $5 coupon was new to me. It was a "flash sale". When I downloaded the coupon onto my app, they asked me if I wanted to download another 30 cents coupon from cash back or something. Sure! Why not! I had some time in between appointments, so, I found free covered parking right in front of the door to Longs and entered the nicely air conditioned store. I wandered around and found some cards and calendars for gifts. I made my way over to the self service pay stations where the staff were helping other customers. When my turn came, the same staff were very patient with me. They helped me navigate through the coupon application portion of the transaction. Whew! That was tricky! Ok, it's a Longs Drugs. But like many businesses with multiple locations, not all are alike. This particular longs has always been a Junior anchor store from the days of Waialae Shopping Center to the current Kahala Mall. The employees as a whole are quite pleasant and helpful and will always put what they are stocking to help a customer. Are all the employees stellar? No. But the bad apples in the bunch are few and far between so the odds are in your favor you'll find a good one. The cashiers are especially nice. That's a position that can make or break the shopping experience. They are very patient but also aware that there is a line of customers waiting to pay so you have to be pretty diplomatic and have good people skills to keep the line flowing. They still make photos- but automatically now. You make your order through the CVS longs website, designate the store and pick it up when ready, This system is so good I have had my orders ready in less than an hour many times. Even during the holiday rush. Ok, it's a Longs but I've always had good luck with this location- with great personnel and availability of goods. And who can beat a Kahala Mall location. read more

I would be doing this review with "NO STARS" but it wont let me, because the customer service i received by Anilisa S who claimed to be a manager at the Kahala location via phone ( she hung up on me) and in person when I went there to make a complaint about her was the most disrespectful, rude and ignorant service I have ever received. She told me she had no patience to deal with my complaint or me. Not only did I speak to a different manager regarding my service or should I say back of but also called their corporate office to make them aware of how she treated me. Refusing to answer a question till after the 4th time of me asking it, to only gave answered it tge previous 3 times with a totally different answer to my question. I've been coming to this Long's since I was a little kid. I remember telling my sister and parents to do their shopping as I would be in the toy isle. Yup those were the days you didn't have to worry about someone snatching your kid. Or was that their plan all along but I thought they were just being nice. Ok enough of that, I will save those memories for the shrink to figure out. lol Long's Drug Store aka CVS as they bought out all the Longs in Hawaii. Yup back in August of 2008 CVS acquired all 521 Longs Drug Stores. CVS was smart by keeping the Longs name. People don't like change and CVS understood that. So what can you find at Longs? Well pretty much everything from snacks, canned goods, liquor, a full service pharmacy, this location has a minute clinic in the back of the store. They have a huge make-up section, greeting cards for all occasions, camera shop (they even take pictures for your passport), and did I say they have toys? This Longs is on the Makai (ocean side) of Kahala Mall. Tons of free parkings. One thing I hope CVS will stop doing is give us the mile long receipt. How about maybe saving some trees and send us a email or text instead? That way we don't lose the coupons and will make us want to go back and buy more stuff. read more

I've been coming to this Longs Drugs store since I was a little kid, and over the years of going to the various Longs Drugs locations, I found one things for sure when I go to the Kahala Mall location..........garans they gonna have it!!! I actually like tuna sandwiches........if you saw a few of my Subway Sandwich check-in's, you'll see my tuna sandwich pics. 2. It was on sale............just $0.89 smackaz for a can! DEALAGES Yo! 3. Did you know that tuna fish was a good source of protein? I know a lot of Bodybuilders eat a lot of this stuff too, but you gotta do the one in "water", not "oil". 4. With all the chaos going around in the world today over this coronavirus, if I get stuck at home for whatever reason, at least I will have a few cans of tuna fish to eat! Buwahahahahaha! Try not to do your shopping on a Saturday when the sale is about to end. Only because they move all the new sale items for Sunday out on the front display and the items that is about to end will either be gone and youd need a rain check or you have to find them in the aisle somewhere hoping it's still in stock. I actually came on a Sunday when the sales start and it's chaotic. Especially when there's cleaning supplies on sale it's a madhouse I tell ya! But apparently I forgot to purchase a few items and didn't decide to come back to the end of the week. I normally go to the kaimuki times but the apocalypse happened and nothing I needed was there. I called around and ended up here after speaking to a daryn (?) who assisted with my question if a particular item was in stock. He explained that it never came in but they'd be happy to substitute the item with a similar brand. He gave me his name to look for him once I get to the store in which he was able to assist me with finding what I needed. The second item that I needed was also not in stock (he also checked the back) but insisted that I receive a rain check even tho I said it wasn't a big deal. He said it is a big deal and pointed at the normal price. Big thumbs up for this guy as he was super helpful. Nice to see that there are still people out there at this time who are willing to go above and beyond. I did see that they installed glass in between the worker and customer which is nice to have and great to know that they're thinking of their employees safety too. read more

There are some really good employees here at Kahala Longs that make my shopping experience. These employees are eager to help and will go the extra mile to find something for me. The cosmetics department is 100%! Since this Longs is closest to me, just some constructive suggestions for the pharmacy workers: "Thank you" after a transaction should be standard even before "Have a nice day." "You're welcome" is much appreciated vs "No problem." Don't ask the customer if we have any questions for the pharmacist and run back and forth with the question and answer. The pharmacist should come talk directly to the customer instead of giving one word answers to the cashier to pass on to the customer. This afternoon's transaction was less than comical with the cashier going back and forth between me and the uninterested male pharmacist. He should have talked to me directly, but he did not seem to care with his two one-word answers. If he was in the middle of something, I would have been happy to wait until he was done. read more

This Longs Drugs is definitely one of the most convenient ones, being located in Kahala Mall, next to Simply Organized and See's Candies. I think it was there when Woolworth was there! You can easily find what you need. It's clean, bright, and organized. But the store is small and more congested than other Longs, and when busy, the cashier lines do get overcrowded. There's now self checkout machines on the mall entrance side, which may or may not be a good thing, but there are employees there to assist you. The staff are all very friendly and courteous every time I've been there--from returns, helping me find a product, Minute Clinic, and etc. Definitely a decent Longs to come to. One might get a call or worse yet, receive a notice that it's pending, but in fact they don't have the medication. Many of the cashiers or assistants are very rude. Long's Pharmacy Kahala is the worst drug store in terms of service. I needed to have a name brand prescription filled and they refused to do it. I have been going to them for over 20 years and every time I need a refill they tell me that they are unable to get the brand name one. I have told them to keep my info on file so I don't have to explain it all over again every time I order from them but they do not do that. Every time I have to explain then they have to call the drug company, my insurance carrier, and my Dr. before they can get my order filled. This HAPPENS ALL THE TIME! My Dr. prescribes the brand name and all we have to do is use the trial card program which we have been using for over 20 years. Finally this week they told me that Long's no longer is allowed to use that program. Consequently, I called the company that makes the drug and they said that is not true. Long's is an approved pharmacy to dispense the drug under their trial program. BIG LIE!!!!! Apparently, the people at Long's kahala are TOO LAZY to type in the necessary info because I went to another Long's in honolulu about 3 miles away and had no problem having the prescription filled.
