(Shopped 09/20/22 TU, 09/23/22 FR, & 09/24/22 SA Various Times): Forget 7-11... how about 24/7!? Hawaii Kai's 7-11 Hawai'i location was perfectly situated to a new vacation residence of my family's and has aided in some quick drinks and snacks on this recent visit. I've been a HUGE fan of this brand since I was a kid (Slurpee, baby!), so I had so much nostalgic love to draw upon. With the proximity of this storefront, would I be giving them my money 7am-11pm daily!? PURCHASE Day 1 Purchase https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=wm0fG-3kPTmeIv5idJCCCA&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Ice-Cream Cookie Sandwich ($2.79): I couldn't remember the last time I had such a wonderful dessert and it reminded me of my favorite growing up - It's It! Samanco Red Bean Waffle Ice Cream Sandwich ($1.99): This was in the shape of a fish and had a decent amount of sweet red beans along with vanilla ice cream; I needed to find this back on the Mainland! Teriyaki Spam Musubi ($1.79): Always a wonderful snack - or a meal if you had more than one - any time of day! Day 2 Purchase: https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=9_1pg96Fbo7ButdAvRq79w&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Arizona Half Iced Tea & Half Mango 23floz Can ($1.59): Mango - 'nuff said! Arizona Green Tea w/Ginseng and Honey 23floz Can ($1.59): One of my favorite flavors, this one went to one of the delivery guys. Goose Island Beer Co. Tropical Beer Hug Imperial IPA Beer 9.9% ABV 19.2floz Can ($3.49): Bright amber color, citrusy hoppy tropical aroma, low body, citrusy hoppy flavor, smooth finish, and citrusy slight bitter hoppy aftertaste https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=LrmuIn2W9L4TQGPCB60vmA&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. Twisted Tea Hard Iced Tea 24floz Can ($2.89 x2): These went to the other delivery guy - cheers! Shrimp Crackers 2.6oz Bag ($2.19): One of my favorite snack foods, the spiciness was noticeable. This went well with the beer! Day 3 Purchase: https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=1K4TGideAqHNomvxDcOfIw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Deluxe Somen Salad ($4.19): Probably the healthiest thing I ate on this trip, this "odd" salad was surprisingly good and filling with a nice sweet dressing/sauce. Franny's Kulolo Pop ($4.59): An expensive ice cream treat made of taro, coconut, and sugar with pudding-like texture, this frozen treat was a revelation and I loved it! Longanisa Spam Musubi ($2.15): It could've used a thicker piece of longanisa, but always say "yes" to any Spam musubi! SERVICE The only customer service I received was when I checked out each time which was totally fine, except the one day I had questions about purchasing a HOLO Card to ride on the buses. Everyone was friendly and pleasant which was all I expected - mahalo! PARKING (FREE) Located on a busy corner that shared the spot with a gas station and a pizza parlor, there were a decent amount of spots. Otherwise, there were plenty of spots along the main residential drag of Pepeekeo Pl. but none along the high-trafficked street of Hawaii Kai Dr. - 'nuff said! ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A medium-sized floorplan with the refrigerated sections along the right wall and part of the center wall, fountain drinks and prepared food along the center wall and along the left side of the store, and the order counter directly on the left when you entered. Several aisles were fully stocked with various merchandise, and several promotional posters hung on the walls and windows. Plenty of natural lighting came through the many large windows while many electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. I couldn't recall any TVs, but Top-40 music played in the background. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL 7-11 Hawai'i's Hawaii Kai location satisfied what I needed and would continue to stop in at this particular store especially due to proximity. Oddly enough, I didn't buy any Slurpees and their tropical flavors - next time! This was truly a one-stop quick shop with many well-known brands, comparable prices, and casual friendly customer service. Plus, they had some wonderful Hawai'i and Asian grab-and-go food that sold out quickly, so get there early! The only thing that irked me was that the reloadable bus fare card had to be purchased with cash only, so that was $17.00 worth of no rewards points! I found complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $51.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 5.0 STARS

No time for lunch today, so, Garlic Chicken Musubi = AUTOMATIC!!!
Fran C.

I like to stop by this particular 7-Eleven store in Hawaii Kai when I'm working in the area because if I'm thirsty or hungry.............. garans I gonna stop by a 7-Eleven for my all time favorite Garlic Chicken Musubi, & a bottle of H2O! Parking here is easy, as the parking lot is pretty spacious, but the parking stalls are shared with another business who is next door (Boston's North End Pizza). Whether you're here for gas, drinks, or food, you really can't go wrong with this 7-Eleven as the store is clean & well stocked. Thank you 7-Eleven management for listening to my request to bring back the Garlic Chicken Musubi (see my 7-Eleven review of the McCully Shopping Center location). I hope I did 7-Eleven proud by eating more than my share of Garlic Chicken Musubi's this past year! Looking forward to more of my FAVORITE Garlic Chicken Musubi's for 2022 and beyond!

Comparison to other hand roll
Ian K.

This is an update of my previous review. I posted two new photos comparing Spicy tuna hand rolls with nearby Hana Sushi. As you can see in the picture the 7-11 is $1.65 and Hana is $4.50. You can also see in the second picture that the 7-11 roll is much bigger and it was more dense. A new addition is the jalapeno pork hash which is excellent. They have some in the heater near the check out but if none there, then ask the cashier and they usually have some in the back that you can take home and heat up.

6/2022 slurpee

Saw on Instagram that 7/11 carries haupia slurpee but was bummed to see it not on the machine. Hope that they bring it in soon!!

A food special that 7-eleven overcharges on.
Vanessa L.

I went in today, Fri Apr 28, and purchased this special. I got overcharged. I brought it up with the person ringing me up. She referred me to the manager on duty. Even after I explained the overcharge, she refused to refund me and told me to call the number on the receipt 808-944-2711. They also did not offer to refund me for the overcharge OR to fix their register so these overcharges don't keep happening! I took my time to try to resolve this and instead am directed back to to your store manager that clearly could care less.

Beneeta D.

Check what you buy before you leave! I picked up some butter mochi excited to try it (I haven't had it yet). I got all the way home and noticed that it was covered in mold. Mold spots throughout, mold on the top. Gross!!!When I took it back the cashier went to find a new one, even though I didn't say I wanted a new one! Even if they had a new one, I wouldn't want to eat it. There were no more so he gave me a refund. I am just completely turned off from getting anything to eat from this location now.

Expensive snacks!
Kekoa A.

ASK FOR A RECEIPT AND CHECK YOUR CHANGE! Even with inflation this does not cost 18.43. The staff there are either not paying attention or dishonest! I gave the guy a $20 and got short changed. Fear KARMA bro- not cool!

Ray L.

You can always count on getting a quick snack at 7-eleven no matter which location in Hawaii. They carry a wide variety of items from hot sandwiches, sushi musubis to ice cream and drinks. All of the food items are changed out daily so you can be assured that the selections are fresh. My favorites are the musubis and mochi. Of course what beats a big slurpee on a hot hawaiian day right?!!

She is so personable and a joy to speak with. She offers inexpensive breakfast bentos featuring white or fried rice, a fried egg and pieces of Portuguese sausage, bacon or frankfurter. The meat varies. It used to sell for $3 but now costs $4.50 (I think). It's still a deal and the containers are great! (We use them to hold leftovers.) During lunch she sets up an array of entrees ... Honey Walnut shrimp, Beef with Vegetables, Meat Jun, Spicy Chicken, Choi Sum, Vegetable Pancake ... the selection varies by day and she offers two or three starches. A two-choice plate ($9.75) comes with a choice of white rice, fried rice or noodles. You have to go early; she can run out of food by 12:30pm. I usually choose one chicken dish and a vegetable with fried rice or noodles. A co-worker always gets the Honey-Walnut shrimp. It's hard to find a better deal in a plate lunch in downtown Honolulu. Her drinks are "the deal", $1.25, $1.50 and $1.75, for large, larger and humongous. Add in the personable service and you have a winner! Hey, stay away, we don't want any more competition for her food. Highly recommended!

If you know what the cost of living in Hawaii is like, you know that produce, well, practically everything for that matter, is expensive. What caught my eye was the fresh sliced fruit in individual containers. If you buy fresh fruit, you know that prices can be ridiculous. The prices of their freshly sliced fruit are very reasonable and the portions are generous. The plastic containers are packed to the brim. Pioneer Pantry has become my go-to spot for fresh-sliced fruit. They also serve hot lunch items like spicy chicken, tofu, and noodles. There's a good variety of snacks such as chips, candy, and soda. Customer service is excellent and they accept mobile payment like Apple Pay and PayPal.

Located at Kukui Plaza tucked away in the back, you will have to walk pass few shops, to see the handwritten sign of " Best Musubi in Hawaii" posted on the door. Although there are bentos available & other goodies, I am mostly here for the delicious musubi. Why so good? My opinion, lets start with spam, perfectly cooked, with secret sauce, love the umami taste while I took my first bite, and the rice is hot & moist, not watery & not premium rice but it is still good, along with the nori. I loved everything about this musubi. Great spam to rice ratio. The only thing that I need is some of my chili spices! Mom & Pop is super friendly, I remember asking how many musubi's they sell a day and owner mentioned they make and sell over 100 a day. I usually park quick at the loading zone of Kukui Plaza, let the security know and walk over real quick to load up on my musubi(s). Don't forget cash only! Every time I walk inside, there's a strong, unpleasant odor that smells like sewage or fecal matter. It's consistent enough that it doesn't feel like a one-off issue--it's something you notice immediately when you enter the store. At times it seems stronger in certain areas, which makes me wonder if it's coming from plumbing, floor drains, or possibly even outside air getting pulled in. What's frustrating is that this location used to feel like one of the better-run stores on the island. Now, the overall impression is very different. Even if the shelves are stocked and the staff is doing their job, the environment itself really affects the experience of shopping there. What stands out is the comparison with nearby stores like Safeway, which don't seem to have the same issue, even though they serve the same general area. That contrast makes the problem at this location even more noticeable. I hope management takes a serious look at it, because this doesn't feel like a minor cleanliness issue--it feels like an infrastructure or maintenance problem that's been left unresolved for too long. It's a shame, because the store has a lot of potential and used to be a go-to spot.
