    I was meeting my friends for lunch. The host was on the phone, after she finally acknowledged me, she asked how many in my party then told me to look and see if they had arrived and went back on the phone. After my friends arrived she said there was a 10-15 minute wait. I was already there for 10 minutes but she did not take my name. After being seated our server took a while to greet us. She apologized and said she just walked in for her shift, it was 12 noon. After giving her our order she brought out water and bread, but no utensils. Wasn't sure if it was a rip off the bread and shove it in the butter cup service. She disappeared for a while and I had to ask the host for silverware. I ordered the burger, no cheese cooked medium. The burger was medium well and dry. I asked for ketchup and she brought it towards the end of our meal. The dining room did not look busy, maybe she was having a bad day. My friend said she's eaten there many times and this was worse service she had experienced.

    An improvement from the previous visit. The food was cooked properly and the best part of the meal was the steak. I would recommend eating at the restaurant because the service was great. My last order was to-go and was not a great experience. Nice cozy place for a steak.

    We were a party of 14 and had to wait awhile on a weekend, but to be expected. Service was great and faster than expected. Waiters split up the table, one to each side. Everyone was happy with their meals. They even gave us each couple our own checks which was so helpful. The experience was much better than what we have experienced in Calif. where we live. We were here for a memorial. Maybe when I get back to Cali will have to give our local one another shot. This was good!

    Plenty of parking and a decent location. Ambiance was nice and service was fast Appetizers were good, but was very disappointed in the steak. Char tasted chemically and steak was over cooked. All in all not the best experience at this location.

    Ok, here's my breakdown...and basically these are all issues easily corrected if management had a clue. I was in Tucson & wanted a steak. I didnt need 5 star anything just a decent steak & some service to match. Longhorn wasnt too busy, was easily seated when I walked in. The server walked over & asked what I wanted to drink, iced tea, like always. He brings me the tea & I know what I want so I tell him, he mentions I get two sides. I look up and he's staring off in the distance. I get the NY & I mention Id like it rare minus, not medium, he shrugs, says he'll do what he can. I also say Id like some shrimp with the steak, he asks how many like Ive questioned his ability to count, which was weird. I also get the baked potato & rice pilaf, I ask for it loaded, but no cheese on the potato. A bit later he sets a small loaf of bread on the table, but fails to notice I had no silverware & leaves. I eventually get the attention of Iona, who stops, asks what else I might need & immediately returns with silverware. She did not seem hurried like all her associates or curt in her responses...this is how they should all act there, 5 stars to her. I get my meal, baked potato has cheese on it & no shrimp. Both the potato and the rice were undercooked. The steak was a nice cut of meat, at least it started that way. Apparently, the kitchen believes steaks need a pound of salt on them, which was the only thing I could taste. Justin, never realized he had forgotten the shrimp or that I didnt want cheese on the potato. He did ask if I needed a box about three bites into the the steak while running by. This place has a large staff, I have to believe its because they've never been trained to actually cover the floor proficiently. I also saw some folks leave a table & knock a napkin on the floor. No less than seven staff members walked by it before it was picked up. Thats just pathetic management...

    Grilled shrimp, asparagus, Caesar salad, very good. Iced tea, cheesecake for desert. Server was good, restrooms were clean.

    The service was awful the last three times. The food quality has also declined. It's too bad we used to enjoy going there.

I ordered a small combo plate of ribs and sliced brisket (sliced with the grain and not cross it as it should have been) and my sides were greens and coleslaw. I did not see the sign that said all of their meats were sauced, but if I saw it, I would not have had them put sauce on anything. As someone who smokes a lot of food, when I taste meat, I want to taste the meat and the seasoning and the smoke itself. The ribs and brisket were very tender, but all I could taste was the vinegar in the barbecue sauce. It completely ruins the meal for me because if I wanted to drink barbecue sauce, I would've asked them for a side of it with a straw. I did not taste the meat, I did not taste the seasoning, I did not taste the smoke. I also believe that if a pitmaster floods their product with barbecue sauce, they are hiding something. So I can't tell you anything about the meats other than everything tasted like barbecue sauce. For the side dishes, I got the coleslaw which was tasty and the greens. You can see the picture I took after I finished the greens and it looked like I had a cup of soup. I don't know why they wouldn't drain the water out of the greens. Since I was the only one in the restaurant, I was also surprised that nobody came up to me and asked me how the food was. They were all busy on their phones or talking to each other than to check with one of their paying customers if they were enjoying their food. The place itself, physically, I liked because it was a hole in the wall type atmosphere. I don't think I would've chosen contemporary hip-hop for my guests to hear. So that's it, I'm giving it two stars only because the tenderness of the meat, but definitely not because of any other flavoring I tasted. I also felt it was extremely overpriced for the portion size. I tried it, now I can write a review and know that I will never go back again.

And while there isn't a distinct Arizona style, we're pretty good at throwin' something dead on the smoker here. And that's just what they do at The Bashful Bandit in Tucson. Their ribs and sausages are good. The brisket is lean, but very flavorful. I didn't get to try the chicken, but the highlight was the pulled pork. If there were an Arizona style BBQ it would be something like this. They cheat the competition rules, but I'm okay with that. They put some green chile in the pulled pork and it's an absolute killer. Not so killer was their coleslaw. It was as sour as the face on my ex-wife and as bland as the seggs we had before she broke up with me. And while I never had a side dish, the side dishes here (apart from the coleslaw) were all yummy. Really good mac and cheese, top shelf cowboy beans, and a potato salad that was dressed in dill and tasting mighty fine. Speaking of dressed, I like my BBQ naked, but if you need sauce (sissy) then go for the house sauce. Great flavor, just a little heat, and just a little sweet - very balanced. The spicy sauce was just okay and the mustard sauce might as well have just been French's Mustard from a two-dollar squirt bottle. Most importantly, while you're wiping the house sauce off your greasy lips, go back to the counter and do yourself a favor, order their appropriately and hilariously named "Smoked Crack Pie." It's an other worldly happy ending to your meal (didn't see that coming, didja?). This thing is a simple but genius dessert. They take a chocolate chip cookie covered in a vanilla custard topping and put it in the smoker. It's got a gooey consistency like a pecanless pecan pie and tastes like if your favorite brownie and crème brûlée had a baby (I'm honestly not sure how that would work...it's weird just to imagine the mechanics really...). Anyhow, don't be bashful, get to The Bashful Bandit in Midtown Tucson and git yerself a case of the meat sweats. You won't regret it.

While I'm an omnivore, I really love that they have meatless options for when I'm not feeling like eating meat. I enjoyed their sides as well. The Sunflower Crunch Salad is a nice no-mayo coleslaw with seeds and fruit that give it some nice textural and flavor contrasts. The Dill Potato Salad is on the lighter side for a potato salad (this is a compliment), with some bright herbaciousness. The Mac & Cheese, by contrast, is super heavy and rich. They round out the plate nicely! The staff are friendly and quick to help adjust orders if there's something you wanted that they're out of.

I asked the server if they could mix it up with two brisket tacos and one pork belly, and they were happy to accommodate. After reading some mixed reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised--nothing was dry or overly fatty. Everything was flavorful and delicious. My total for four 10-oz beers and three tacos was just over $20, which is an incredible deal for the quality and amount of food and drink. I came to watch the U of A basketball game, and this place is perfect for it--plenty of TVs, tons of seating, and even space for large groups. There's also a covered outdoor patio with lots of seating, plus foosball and cornhole. Parking was easy, too. I sat at the bar, struck up a great conversation, and found the patrons to be super friendly. Overall, a great vibe all around. As someone who frequented this restaurant for the last few years, I had a firsthand look at how things were run, and in my experience management operated very unprofessionally. From what I personally witnessed, the owner, David, was consistently disrespectful toward employees and created a company culture that I don't believe deserves support. Also important to note that there is something up with the drains/ sewer system in this building and about once a week the entire dining room smells like a sewer leak.. gross
