This is my second time here, the first time ended with some pretty bad food poisoning and if it wasn't for a friend's birthday party I would never have gone here a second time. I decided to steer clear of the pork ribs and get a burger instead. It was a nice chunk of meat without much flavor or seasoning, French fries with made to order and were nice and hot. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food. I find the BBQ here somewhat mediocre, the table side sauces were not very appealing and tasted watered down. My wife ordered a Burger, medium well done and Fries. The Burger was RAW inside. Not edible at all. It was too raw for me and I like mine rare. The French Fries were as brown as shoe leather and almost as tough. I complained to the waitress and nothing was done. We took that one home in a box to re-cook for our dogs. We were a party of 5 that showed up Friday at 5:45 for dinner. I went to the hostess stand to put our name on the wait list. While I was waiting behind another party, I saw on their standing sign "Pork Ribs - low" and "Moist Brisket - out". I sort of scratched my head at that. The hostess asks how she can help me, to which I said we were a party of 5 and asked what the wait time was. She got a bewildered look on her face and turned to talk to someone that just walked up. She looked like a server, but could have been a manager, telling her we were a party of 5 for dinner. The server/manager, then tells me they are no longer seating large parties and they are booked for the rest of the night. When did 5 people become a large party, when were walk in's not given the option of being added to the wait list and finally, how does a BBQ place run out of ribs? Holy Smokin Butts is probably the best BBQ this side of Tucson. The meats are cooked just right, I especially like their brisket (moist vs lean). The platters are a great way to try out a few different meats so that you can gauge what you like, and what to order for future visits(and you will keep coming back!--it is that good). The pork belly sandwiches are really good here too and the variety in bbq sauces as well. Personally, I like the mix of the Sweet with the Spicy bbq sauce--flavors complement the meats really well. For drinks, I really liked that they have a prickly pear cider on draft as well as other local beers. The service is really nice and I appreciate that they have a whiteboard upfront that shows whether they're low or have ran our of certain meats...as for the ambiance, I like the no nonsense layout of the restaurant inside and they small booths and big tables for larger groups as well. Certain days/nights I think there is live music here but not 100% sure as I haven't been to any of these events, but def have been here multiple times enjoying the best bbq on the east side. read more

I thought I had placed our catering order for Friday, 12/19. I walked in to pick it up and there was no order there. The lady who assisted me and totally pulled our catering order together for me in less than 30 minutes. The restaurant was packed and the staff was able to pull my order together. This was my fault on my end but I cannnot believe the service of this restaurant. You guys ROCK!!!! We were in town on vacation and made a reservation for 6PM on a Friday night. They were pretty full, but still a few tables open, so might be OK to try to get in without a reservation. They had some good local draft beers; I had the Mother Road Station Tower IPA which went really nicely with the BBQ. Two of us shared the Big Q platter which had some of everything. We loved it all! The brisket was so tender and flavorful, the pulled pork was delicious and the sausage and turkey were excellent as well. We had fries and beans as our sides and the fries were definitely fresh cut and fried to order. The beans were a mix of a couple different types and were seasoned nicely with just the right amount of onion and weren't too sweet. We had leftovers to take home so definitely plenty of food for two. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was relaxed and not noisy making it easy to have a conversation. Parking is available in the big shared lot, but was almost full when we arrived and was still pretty full when we were leaving. Probably my favorite barbecue spot. Food is on par with Texas institutions like The Salt Lick and Goldees. They have tri-tip (wifey's favorite) and turkey if you don't love fatty meats. Their potato salad is the best I've ever had (lots of dill). Decor is typical western but clean. Service is usually good. They have steak and beef ribs on the weekends, but I prefer the BBQ. First time customer, grabbed the pulled pork sandwich today with a side of Mac N Cheese and their beans. Pork was lean, punching with flavor. Their sauce selection was tasty (believe 5 or 6 on the table, nice to have multiple choices) - also sauce containers were clearly fresh and clean to include the nozzles. I'm staying neutral on the Mac N' Cheese, fell a little flat for our group - in the Styrofoam and likely tossed in a microwave before heading out of the kitchen. Realize not likely 'Tex style, but a panko encrusted top and a moment under the broiler could really up the mac 'n cheese game. Conversely the beans were extra delicious, and I appreciate the sides come in various sizes which is nice option if you choose to order your favorite side in a slightly larger quantity. One hick-up was the bun, way too buttery or oily - not certain. While this did not detract from the many positives, I'd like to see whatever ingredient making that bun 'shine' like the sun walked back, just a bit. Inside super clean and took me back to the mid 80's with the floor layout. As a teen, I used to jockey an all-you-can eat booth for 2-3 hours after navigating what at the time felt like an endless buffet line...You can still see hints of the iconic Gordo's in the shadows. Beer selection was decent, with a nut brown (Oak Creek), a couple IPAs plus 3 or 4 others on draft, and glasses of red / white available for the non-beer drinkers.
