My final evening in Tucson led me to ALLORO Bistro and Cocktail Bar, nestled inside the Hilton Tucson East. With a Fish Friday special on offer, it felt like a fitting and convenient choice to close out the trip. Unfortunately, the evening began with a noticeable lack of hospitality. The host stand sat unattended--no greeting, no direction--leaving me to seek assistance from the bartender, whose indifferent response suggested that if I waited long enough, someone might eventually appear. After about ten minutes, a server arrived, asked a quick "how many," seated me, wiped the table, and disappeared without a trace. The service that followed never quite found its rhythm. A woman wearing a wrist brace--presumably a host or manager--floated through the dining room, occasionally escorting guests, though rarely anchoring the front. After another stretch of waiting, my server arrived, offered a menu, and returned with water. From my seat, I had a clear vantage point of the entire dining room: roughly five or six staff members moved about, yet the overall energy felt detached, subdued, and curiously unwelcoming. To the restaurant's credit, the ambiance offers a quiet charm. Soft, flattering lighting casts a warm glow across the space, and the proximity to the bar adds a gentle hum without overwhelming conversation. The clientele--largely older patrons--kept conversations low, creating an atmosphere that would lend itself nicely to an intimate date night. The menu, however, failed to inspire. Aside from the prices, little stood out--though I remained hopeful for the Fish Friday special: Chef Brandon's Alaskan hand-battered cod. At first glance, the dish arrived with promise--golden, crisp-looking fillets paired with fries and coleslaw. But the illusion quickly faded. The fish was disappointingly soggy, its coating limp rather than crisp, and the flavor was strikingly bland. The fries were inconsistent--some adequately cooked, others seemingly still thawing--resulting in a disjointed and underwhelming side. The coleslaw was, frankly, unpleasant, with an off-putting taste that made it difficult to finish. There were small redeeming touches. The aioli delivered a pleasant burst of flavor, and even the simple ketchup accompaniment felt like one of the more reliable elements on the plate. After being checked on, I pivoted to what seemed like a safer choice: a patty melt. With clear instructions given, I anticipated a recovery. Sadly, it followed the same trajectory. The sandwich arrived dry, sparsely layered with onions, and lacking the rich, savory depth that defines a proper patty melt. Once again, the saving grace was the house-made dill pickle aioli--bright, tangy, and genuinely enjoyable. Throughout the meal, the service remained inattentive, with staff frequently congregating near the bar rather than engaging with guests. Despite the restaurant's clean and well-kept appearance, the overall experience felt disjointed--an establishment with potential, but lacking execution where it matters most. In the end, while the ambiance offers a pleasant backdrop, the culinary experience does not rise to meet it. Having traveled extensively and dined across a wide spectrum of establishments, this visit did not leave a lasting or favorable impression. Regrettably, Chef Brandon's offerings do not earn a place on my foodie list, and I cannot recommend ALLORO Bistro and Cocktail Bar. Great place to catch a meal while in your travels. Fast Eddie and Ms Maddi do a fine job of providing good service and a warm welcome. If you are there on a Saturday, I recommend the prime rib dinner special. 5-8pm. But get in there early, those plates of food go quick! Also, start your day off early with a solid breakfast. Went for the Prime Rib Friday special, but they dont do that in the off seaso, so had the Fried Fish n Chips special instead. It was 3 pieces on a bed of fries, with tarter sauce, ketchup and some lemoms. Decent preparation and portion. A couple of us got burgers and those were better than expected and so was the caprese appetizer. Great service and cool view of the bats coming out from under the bridge over tje Pantano. We'll be back in October to give the prime rib special a try. read more

My favorite part of this Hilton is Alloro. Friendly service all around, especially from our server Jessica. With outstanding food and portion sizes. The lemon pepper wings were better tasting than the ones at Wing Stop. And our vegetariana pizza was well prepared and shareable. I also had a lemonade while she ordered a sprite. We both ordered dessert, something we rarely do. My gelato trio was amazing, and my wife enjoyed her brownie sundae. We will be staying here for a few more nights and plan to make Alloro our dinner destination at least one more time. read more

This is the restaurant inside Tucson's east side Hilton. Our party of 3 went for dinner last night. We made a reservation but is was not necessary. We got the calamari appetizer. The calamari was fried perfectly and it was not tough or chewy. The tomato dipping sauce (pomodoro?) was excellent. Husband had the beef short rib dinner (with broccolini and polenta) and our friend had the beef short ribs over pasta. Both of those dishes were very very good. I was looking at an outdated menu on yelp before we went, and I had picked out the spaghetti and meatballs. It was not on the main menu any more, but I found it on the "extra" menu, so I ordered it. It was disappointing. Husband enjoyed the spicy margaritas. The service was friendly but slow. I would be willing to try this place again and I wouldn't hesitate to eat here if I was staying at the Hilton and didn't want to go out. read more

We had a lovely Christmas Day dinner here with the family. There were several stations of food for the buffet. The appetizer station had shrimp cocktail, meats, cheeses, bruschetta and more. There was a carving station with lamb, Wellington and ham. All was cooked to perfection. They also had an area with a chicken dish, potatoes, veggies and desserts. The restaurant was decorated beautifully for the holidays and allowed us many places for family photos. Our server Megan was very attentive and as was the manager, Darin. It's still delicious here! I came to Alloro with my family, last weekend. As far as hotel restaurants go, sometimes they can be on the generic side. Most offering traditional American fare consosting of soups, salads, and sandwiches. Most of the time, that's perfectly fine, but that won't draw in many locals. Alloro on the other hand, is a very fresh concept. The quality of Italian food they offer here rivals many higher-end Italian restaurants that I've patronized. On the Sunday we came in, we were the only ones there besides someone at the bar; that's a crying shame as this place absolutely rocks. The service was prompt, friendly, and informative, and the food is out of this world. I ordered the fettuccine alfredo with shrimp, and grilled chicken. For a relatively simple dish, they did a tremendous job. Also, try the Alloro spritzer. I cannot wait to try all of the other things the menu has to offer. read more

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE For Christmas Day, I made reservations on Open Table for my family for 5:30 PM. Arriving promptly, we went to the hostess to check in. I gave her our name and she stated-with immediate defiance-that I had no reservation. She then asked if I made the reservation through Open Table. I indicated that I had and she stated they were having "problems" with Open Table. She directed us to have a seat, rolled her eyes and said she'd get her manager. We did as instructed. A few minutes later a man (who I assume to be the manager) comes to us and immediately rolls his eyes and aggressively states that he just "got off the phone" with Open Table and that I did not have a reservation. I offered to show him the confirmation. The man was rude and accusatory from the beginning. He rolled his eyes again and indicated that he may be able the find a spot for us. His tone was aggressive for the entire conversation. We walked out and will NEVER return. My main concerns are as follows: 1. Until trying to find a reservation for Christmas Day I had never even heard of this place. When I made the reservation, I did so more out of necessity than actually wanting to eat here. They were actually lucky we were trying the place at all. 2. I was essentially called a liar by both the hostess and the manager despite having evidence that I had a reservation. 3. I don't recall the last time I've been treated so rudely without provocation. The entire situation was offensive and a little embarrassing as I had been the one to make the reservation. I understand that it was Christmas and that it was busy. That's no excuse to call me a liar though. read more

Me and my boyfriend both got food poisoning after eating from this palace. We were up all night throwing up. The worst part about it was having to drive 5 and a half hours back home in pain with diarrhea and nausea. We are both still very sick. Highly disappointed. Allora is located on the second floor of the Eastside Hilton. I came here on a Sunday night to have dinner with some coworkers that were visiting Tucson. I checked in using my Yelp app and got a sweet 20% off our entire dinner order. This was very nice because our bill was over 200. We ordered the meat and cheese appetizer, fettuccine alfredo with shrimp, and the gnocchi. The hotel renovation was refreshing to see. Apparently it cost 9 million to completely renovate the Hilton building. The customer service was great and the staff was very friendly. The pasta was not the best fettuccine I have ever had, but it was decent. It could have had more shrimp added to it. The free bread with olive oil was just "ok". It was not the type of bread that disappears from the table and leaves everyone asking for more. My coworkers seemed to enjoy their meal. Overall we had a great time. Cheers! read more

I've always been a little hesistant over going to a "hotel restaurant" but I must say Alloro does not disappoint...at first, it was really unsettling that they didn't have a host/hostess up front. When one of the servers finally acknowledged us, he was gonna have us sit at a cramped table for two when I specifically made a reservation stating it's for our anniversary--anyways, the point is: patience takes you a long ways at this place. We finally got seated at one of the better/more "celebratory" seats in the back. Despite these minor hiccups at the start of the night, the food was actually delicious. We had the mussels and their fried fresh mozzarella for starters. The mozzarella was just okay but the broth on the mussels was really delicious (so much so I wish they had complementary bread that come with it, but unfortunately they don't). I mean, for the amount of waiting, I think they should have some bread with olive oil/balsamic like in most Italian restaurants but it's okay because the entrees were worth it. Plus, the wine list is decent. The pappardelle was really good, I especially like the touch of pomegranate and that the meat was tender. The braised short ribs was cooked just right and the mascarpone polenta it came with was delish...lastly, the tiramisu for dessert def hits the spot to finish off the night. We were staying at the Hilton and after a day out sightseeing we were tired so decided to just go down to the restaurant. What a great choice. The pizza was excellent and the burrata salad one of the best. Add to that the great service, Darren the manager and the incredible singer made this a wonderful evening. We are going back tomorrow to try the salmon. BTW We get breakfast with our room and that is very good as well. Great find in Tucson and obviously I highly recommend it. read more

I had stayed at this Hilton many times when traveling for work before the renovation. I actually went through the renovation and it was a little tough... Once this restaurant was finished though, it was totally worth the wait! What a beautiful renovation they accomplished! Just extraordinary for a new place in Tucson as far as interior, comfort, service, food.... I love the grilled artichoke, the salmon was amazing and the signature cocktails are extraordinary!!! I used to Hilton hop, whenever I came to town in order to be close to my events. I'm more than willing to drive the distance now! Kudos to all those involved in the renovation and new menu. I hear the chef is well known in Tucson and now I know why. read more

I work here, haven't been to much Italian spots around town but we offer up great dishes all made in house. Whenever an opportunity arises I'm always trying to push out new specials, try out new Recipes, play with vegan and vegetarian options to make sure there is a little of everything for everyone. And desserts, any time I can change up the panna cotta I'm on it. This week we have a lemon bar panna cotta made by me Chef Tuti. So the first time I went was a wonderful experience! It was truly a wonderful night and was very much looking forward to going back and enjoying that type of service again. Unfortunately that was not the case, we sat at the bar and it was just blah. However, the manager contacted us and we went back again and had a really great experience! We've been back two times after that. Wonderful experience each and every time we have been back... clearly they were just having an off night, I'm totally happy that we went back and tried it again. After a long day of driving from LA to Tuscon we did not want to or have the energy to find a spot for dinner. We decided to just eat here because it was in the hotel and there was no wait for a table. Our waitress was very friendly and efficient bringing our drinks over right away. Decent Italian- I doubt we'll go back though. We live a few blocks away and decided to check this place out. First thing, we had to ask at the counter where the restaurant was, there's no signage except an A board by the front desk advertising pizza. We had to wait a min to get seated because the hostess was taking room service orders, but our server came over and seated us when he saw she was busy. We had an awesome server- Issac- huge smile and very attentive. He forgot one item, but he corrected it so quickly I'm not even upset. (We could see that he was waiting his tables, and another's while that person delivered to room service) The bread came out after a min or so wait, I wished that they had herbs in their oil/balsamic mix- but the bread was good. We ordered Calamari to start, my husband ordered pappardelle, I ordered fettuccine, it was pretty standard, though I was disappointed with how small the portion size was compared to other Italian places, but I did appreciate the shavings of parm on top. The hubby was happy with his, his only comment was that the meal was flavorful, and maybe too rich. The calamari was very good, and I loved that it came with slices of fried banana pepper too! It needed to be cooked a little bit more though as some of the pieces had wet batter still inside. There are so many amazing Italian places in town, that sadly I don't think this will be some place I crave going back to. read more

We decided to try the Prime Rib special (first little red flag) on Friday nights. What can I say, we're of the older persuasion and like specials on food and early dining. It's a strange phenomena that happens after 60. Anyway, went to the Hilton on east Broadway last evening. The place is small with a nice view of the Catalinas. We knew we what we were going to eat and our first order were the grilled artichokes. I know artichokes are a California vegetable, but why can't anyone in Arizona grill an artichoke? You know you have to par-cook them BEFORE you put them on the grill, right? There, now everyone can make artichokes that are actually edible and serve them to your patrons as an appetizer. We had to leave ours alone as they were cold and not cooked on a plate where the remoulade to dip the leaves is slathered on the bottom of the plate with the "grilled" artichoke sitting on top and the leaves that you need to individually eat, laying in the remoulade glop. Bad plating and bad appetizer. Next came that prime rib special. We always order rare...yeah, nice try, carnivore...not happening here. Every time there's a "special" on a meat cut, don't think for one minute that it's going to taste good or be tender. My slice was medium and awful. And so the record stands for the chewiest, dullest flavored prime rib this side of Broadway. The sides include mashed Yukon gold potatoes and from what I could tell, they were real. The "jus" was the only thing with flavor on the plate and the other side of thrown in grilled vegetables was just a filler for a plate, nothing to see or eat there. We had to ask for the artichokes to be comp'd because they were inedible and finally the waiter took them off the bill but why did we have to ask? Well, there's another place I won't have to try something else off the menu for their redemption. Not worth my time and from the lack of enthusiasm from the staff, they're not going to miss us, either. read more

I love Alloro! This is the BEST hotel restaurant you will find. I stay here a couple times a month and always eat here when I come. Even when I order room service the food is impeccable! Everything I've tried I really liked. I especially enjoy the filet mignon. Always cooked to perfection and I enjoy the complimentary sauce and flavored salts that come with it. First impression was great nicely designed and open concept. However, food was average if ny below average. The prime rib was about 1/4 fat, wine glasses had massive detergent residue, tons of flies. Waitress has no idea about the wine. Customer service was good but could improve. I don't think I'll be back anytime soon. read more

We met friends of ours that were staying in the hotel for drinks there, and at that time we liked it so much we said we'd return for dinner sometime. Well today dinner ended up being a late lunch but we went for it anyway. You walk into the resturant seating area through the lounge, which has a very modern feel to it. We ordered drinks and proceeded to seat ourselves in the resturant dinning room, also decorated with very modern finishings. The seating area also features an expansive view of the Santa Catalina mountains to the North. We started with an order of fried calamari for an appetizer. It came out sizzling hot with a couple of lemon wedges and a red dipping sauce. The calamari itself was enjoyable, very tender with a light touch on the batter. The only drawback I had with it was that the sauce was a bit to much on the ketchupy side for me, so we just used the lemon slices instead. I ordered the fettuccine with grilled chicken, my spouse ordered the the slow cooked rib panni sandwhich. The fettuccine arrived with a light sauce and grilled, spiced chicken breast. The fettuccine sauce had a nice flavor, but just a touch thiner than I prefer. The noodles were cooked just right, slightly al dente. The chicken breast was great, nicely spiced and very tender. We both loved my spouses rib panni sandwhich! The panni was very fresh, and the rib meat was very, very tender; with a subtle smoke flavor to it. All in all, a very pleasent experiance. read more

I have stayed at this Hilton a dozen times and would only eat at their restaurant if I was desperate for a quick bite. Well tonight was one of those desperate late nights, but to my surprise the newly renovated hotel has a new restaurant called alloro. It is seriously the best meal I have had in Tucson. Started with a grilled artichoke with a great aoili and Parmesan dipping sauce (sounds odd but it rocks). Then I had the salmon which I assumed would be microwaved or over cooked. But it was top quality crispy skin cooked perfectly at medium. Not dry at all and perfectly seasoned. I am seriously floored that I got this kind of meal at the Hilton, but at this point I will eat here even when I am not staying at the Hilton. read more

My friends and I had such bad service at the bar that we never got to try the food. Absolutely the rudest bartender we've ever encountered, so bad that we left without ordering anything. It all started with the happy hour wine (he only pours what's already open) and moved on to the there's-no-happy hour beer - they don't do happy hour local brews because they're too expensive to discount (according to the bartender) and just because they're not on happy hour doesn't mean we can't buy them anyway (according to the bartender). We really wanted to try Alloro but oh well. So we went across the street and met a truly excellent bartender at Horseshoe Grill then on to our favorite bartenders at Kon Tiki. Arrived during happy hour a few weeks ago. Drinks were reasonably priced and bartender was eager to serve us. Ordered the bruschetta appetizer and was disappointed. Three small pieces of toasted baguette with a slight smear of pesto and tomatoes and basil dusted with cheese. $9 was was way too pricey for this small portion. After appetizers at the bar we were seated at a table. Our female server was polite and friendly. My dinner consisted of a pasta dish with short ribs but unfortunately the meat was hard to find, sauce was watery, and it was delivered lukewarm. My husband's spaghetti and meatballs was the worst I had ever seen. His pasta stuck together like paste and the meatballs were hard and dry, but he did say the sauce was tasty. The lady next to us was seated at the table next to us when we were and she didn't receive her meal until after we had paid and were getting up to leave. I sure hope it worth was waiting for! I really had high expectations, but this meal just didn't impress us enough to return. read more
