While in California I gave Diane her choice of any place to eat for dinner, and she picked here. After I heard her express her choice, I first thought that she had wasted a selection. But, in the end this Long John Silver's proved to be a nice, fishy change of pace. I had the 3 Piece Fish & More, with three good, moist and slightly greasy battered and deep fried fish fillets (2 would probably have been adequate), plus Add-A-Piece Clam Strips, which were very tasty with deep-fried fish crumbles. This particular Long John's doubles as a KFC, so to go with two hush puppies I chose KFC Mashed Potatoes & Gravy and Coleslaw as my included sides. The Coleslaw is slightly creamy and IMHO one of the best to be found at any eatery. Diane enjoyed plump Deep Fried Shrimp and slightly crinkled Potato Wedges. Completely incompetent. Ordered a fish and shrimp dinner (w/extra shrimp) had to wait 10 minutes as for some reason, fish dinners take longer to cook. A employee brought my meal out to me, got home and it was nothing I had ordered. In fact, it was 2 pieces of chicken, not fish. It seems as though the bar has been lowered so much the past 2 years, this appears to happen a lot at fast food restaurants. If this is to be our future leaders in charge, God help us. read more

I was very excited to see a LJS as I passed by. You don't see them anymore and there's a reason why. I ordered at 330 on Saturday. Not busy at all. I ordered the variety platter of 3 fish and 2 chicken for $12.49. The manager who took my order said it'll be 7 minutes because they cook to order. I knew I should've checked the box before leaving. All I got was 3 very old, not cooked to order chicken planks. See my pics for reference. I live an hour away so it was not feasible to just go back and show them the garbage they sold me. I like the fish-here but they could improve it and make it GREAT by removing some of the salt, its very salty also very greasy . A recipe tweak and keeping the oil at the right temp and not overcrowding the fryer would help fix the problems . read more

Always love this Long John Silver's! Easy to find, ample parking. They offer inside seating, to go and drive thru. Always clean inside and restrooms are kept up. Location offers LJS and KFC. The LJS is made fresh, to order. Staff is always friendly. Prices are still fair and portion sizes are perfect. Love the family deal options as well, however expect them to to pull you for about 10/15 mins to cook it. No problem for me, that just means Hot &. Fresh! I love this place, would recommend and will always be a regular!!! read more

Wow! This sure brings me back memories eating at LJS! Staff was nice and friendly, the food was cooked to order, I could hear the fish frying in the kitchen. Fish was super crispy and tasty, the fries came out crispy and hot, I ordered a side of shrimp, they were pretty good too. I thought it was well worth the drive to come and eat here. I'm giving stars to the man at the cash registers. He was awesome. In fact, he has a line of 7 people right now, and he isn't getting flustered. Not sure how many people are in the kitchen cooking as the orders are slow to come out. Now for the food. We ordered a combo of chicken and fish, and a combo of shrimp with huspuppies. I'm very disappointed with the food. It came out to us as hot as a chili pepper. Thats were the yum factor stands. The coating in the shrimp, chicken and fish stops. It is her greasy, so much so that I needed to squeeze out the oil between napkins. I added malt vinegar to the fish I tried and it helped to provide flavor to a very bland onel 'll. . .. l note meal. As my side I ordered the coleslaw. This LJSshares the store with KFC. I like the coleslaw because it IS from KFC. We don't have a LJS in our neck of the woods. Use to love long John silvers. Came to this location for the first time and it was horrible. Waited 10min for my meal. Once I got it the food was over fried. The chicken was hard and fries were hard. Come here just for the Long Johns Silver's part not really for it's KFC counterpart. The fish is soooo good and tasty and the lady that helped us Shannon I think was her name (sorry if I got that wrong) was what customer service is all about. Of course you do have to wait for the fish, usually like 15 minutes or so but no big deal. The restaurant itself is clean and in a decent (but busy) area. Okay, now for the bad part...I've seen several posts about the hours being different for Long John Silvers then for KFC when it's posted the as being the same and it's true. I did one time drive up the 10 frwy during a very busy time on a very busy freeway about 40 minutes for me actually only to find out that I was to late for fish but the KFC was still open. I left empty handed that night and endured that crappy A$$ drive for nothing. However I'm not going to decimate the establishment for this when on all other parts they're great, but they do lose one star for this blatant omission regarding their hours. Unfortunately I give them a zero star because they closed earlier then the KFC they are connected to. On the web it stated they closed at 9 and on yelp it states 11 pm. After driving 30 minutes we arrived at 8:07 and was told that the Long John Silver closed at 8 but KFC was still open. That is not how you do business. read more

I have never been to, or seen a drive-thru that has a full menu listed but states you cannot order through the drive-thru and you must go inside. This location had a sign that I noticed when placing an order. This is a KFC/Long John Silvers combo restaurant. I asked the person through the speaker and she advised she would take my order, but I would need to park and wait for them to bring the food out. No big deal at all. Fresh is food is good food. Dropped by for some KFC, which is also served here. But, at 4:45 p.m. on a Monday, they only had the original recipe. Why? Who wants to wait 10 to 15 minutes for a new batch to be made? So, I went with the "PLANK" 3-piece chicken combo. What is a Plank?? Chicken and coleslaw was so-so.....Service was quite slow even with only 2 other people inside the seating area. Asked for honey mustard sauce and got sweet and spicy.....Napkin dispensers on only 50% of the tables. WHY? I would come back here if I was already in the area but I wouldn't drive the 20+ minutes just to eat here. So I had a coupon for a variety platter... Or something like that but the only thing on the menu was combos or 1 family deal. I had to ask multiple times for the variety platter options and the guy got frustrated and told me to look on the menu. I told him it wasn't there... And it wasn't. So that's a strike. I would have liked to have seen a full menu and had I not had the coupon to know there were more options, I would have had to buy a combo because that's the only thing that showed. So I got fish, chicken, and shrimp, with fries and coleslaw. Fries were so overcooked that they weren't edible. Coleslaw was typical KFC coleslaw. Shrimp tasted raw. Fish was sooooo oily and salty. I asked for "a lot" of tartar sauce and they gave me 4. I needed at least double that so now I had to use tartar sauce from home that I just happened to have. With the $2 off coupon I had, I'd say the price was decent. $10 for 2 fish, 1 chicken, 3 shrimp, and 2 sides. read more

I will start by saying I love Long John Silvers. I have traveled to get to this one as they closed the ones closer to me. Todays visit left me disappointed. One of my favorite items, the chicken plank has shrunk in size by about half AND it didn't taste the same. It is not in the unique batter of long John silvers. It was just a chicken strip. Growing up in the Inland Empire,We cherished fishing at LJSilver for some killer battered Fish,Shrimp,Signature Hushpuppies!!! My meal took me back to the old days where one can enjoy Delights from the Sea!!! Beyond the Sea there's Shannon !!! Shannon took my order and made me feel comfortable throughout the order because she listens and delivers!!! She must be commended for her generous knowledge of the menu and getting your order perfect. In my observation, I feel Shannon should become a Customer Service Trainer!!! In most fast food restaurants today, I have observed rushed orders,incorrect orders and zero customer service. Shannon gets Hospitality and I truly enjoyed her Easy Smile!!! Let me start by saying Shannon is the best thing since sliced bread. We didn't go to Long John Silvers, we went to Long John Shannon's, because she treated us like we were in her home. She was so sweet and polite. She made us feel welcomed as soon as we walked in. The level of customer service she had was something that is rare these days. I am happy to see that there are still people who value customer service as much as me. She is clearly hardworking and deserves a raise ;) (lol). No really. Now for the food, it was great! Apparently this is a fairly new place in the fast-growing west end of Yucaipa. Kentucky Colonel Harland Sanders seems to have talked Long John Silver into turning his pirate ship into a fishing boat and choose an honest way to make a living. The place is fairly nice, as fast-food places go, and the menu board is split between the two establishments. Since there is no LJS' near my home I decided to go fishing. We caught the two-filet combo with two hush puppies and a side of macaroni and cheese. It was adequate to split between the two of us. If you are in the area or just passing through, you may want to stop in here to eat instead of getting a greasy hamburger. I wonder if things would have been different if Mr. Silver had turned his pirate ship into a cruise liner instead? Some things we will just never know... read more

We really like Long John's when it was not set up with KFC. Better tasting food. Not sure if any of the stand alone Long John's are even still around. Their was a line, but that was to be expected with Drive Thru now with the Covid. Person taking the order tells us one side with the Combos, or two sides if we don't take the drink. When we order she tells us no, price stays the same and no substitute of the drink for a side. Totally confused in ordering. Then we just ordered the sides with the combos and at window paying for it, she said I just put everything separate in your order. Cost more, no drinks and my meal was not complete after we drove away. I realize they are trying to do a good job with the Covid, but since were not eating out as much, you would think you would get what you paid for. Fish was good, chicken not very good. Combining KFC with Long John's does not work. Long John's in KFC box doesn't work. Round plates for Long John's with lids work out so much better. The French fries were overcooked. We ask for tater sauce and other items like salt and our bag had so many packs of any of them it was wasteful. Whoever owns this business needs to retrain the employees. I gave it three stars because the fish was good and the health situation now in trying to be understanding, but that was our last visit to this place. read more

Just went through the drive-thru here. Ordered fish chicken and shrimp. Got to the window and asked us if we wanted any sauce and they don't have any cocktail sauce for the shrimp. I would think that this is something you should tell somebody when they're ordering shrimp and the menus in front of them so they can change their mind if they want to. I come here often and order chicken and when you ask for crispy and they try and force you to take original or wait 30 minutes for crispy. Why can't they just be ready! Why is this a problem every time I come here! You should never have to wait for crispy chicken - if they can't have it ready take it off the menu. Or get someone in the kitchen that can handle keeping up with the customers. I should not have to settle for anything but what I want. Not the first time. This is a very consistent problem here. They make the fish fresh to order so there is a little wait but totally worth it. You get a lot of food and the workers are all smiles and very courteous. In fact, being we had to wait 10 minutes for 5 dinner combo orders they gave us 2 treats for the wait. Awesome!! read more
