A hidden gem! I've driven by hundreds of times, during the day, and wondered if they'd gone out of business. LOL... they are only open for dinner... they open at 4 every day. So, tonight we wanted to have a 'nicer' dinner and wow, we were blown away. I made a reservation, so happy that I did, the place was packed at 6:15. They've restored my faith in a good steak (I grew up on Midwest beef, hard to live up to that). My steak was melt in your mouth, juicy and so flavorful. My hubby can't eat beef right now so he had the Fettuccine Alfredo with grilled shrimp. It was very good as well. The only 2 draw backs in the entire meal: his shrimp were a tad over cooked (it's a steak house so we gave them a little room for error) and the potato/corn chowder was very bland and had almost zero corn. It was more like potato/milk gravy. Very thick. I would stay away from the chowder and order a salad instead. But the steak and pasta were amazing. The calamari app was also one of the best I've had. Normally you only get that good a calamari at the beach... well done! My margarita was tasty and all of the sides were delish and the carrot cake was very good. We had an exceptional dinner at Hickory Ranch! We arrived for our 5:00 PM reservation and were seated immediately. Our server was fantastic--friendly, knowledgeable, and offered great menu suggestions. We started with the tortilla soup, which arrived quickly and was perfectly hot. For the main course, we had the tacos, ribeye, and beef Wellington. The ribeye stole the show; it was tender, lean, and seasoned to perfection. The Wellington was equally delicious. We even received a tableside visit from the manager, Michele, who made us feel very welcome. Hickory Ranch Steakhouse in Yucaipa has long been a favorite of ours. It's a family owned business and we like supporting local. Every time I go, I get the Mahi-Mahi Fish Tacos. I always request for mine to be grilled and blackened. So delicious. The order comes with three generously sized tacos. I eat one with a cup of soup and take the other two home for another meal. The tacos are so delicious that it's hard for me to try anything new. I love their clam chowder also which comes as a side. The last time we went, I opted for something different. I ordered the Beef Stroganoff and it was absolutely yummy! The portion was huge, so I ate my side cup of soup, a little of the Stroganoff and then took the rest home. We split the leftovers for lunch the next day, so technically I got three meals out of one. I would highly recommend the Beef Stroganoff. The meat was super tender, and the mushroom wine sauce was very flavorful. They also have the yummiest bread. I think it's either yeast rolls or some kind of sourdough. I'm not sure but they bring it when you first sit down and it's just awesome. I wasn't a fan of the garlic bread that came with the Beef Stroganoff. Next time, I'll just tell them to skip the bread so I don't waste it. Definitely check it out Hickory Ranch Steakhouse if you're in the area -it's so yummy. Met with a group of 30 to celebrate a birthday. Warm greetings, good service. Drink and appetizers ordered ( my wife and I decided to have hors d'oeuvres as our main meal but we ordered a glass of house cab and a Tall blue moon. For our meal we had a house salad, garlic, Parmesan wings, steak tacos, and the Ahi poke tostadas. All the food had great flavor and was cook perfect for bar food. The one disappointment was the poke. Wonton chips with pickled veggies and a very very small portion of ahi. Not even one small square of fish per chip. Add to that, I had to ask for it 10-15 minutes after the rest of our food arrived. Greed exceeded common sense, as I should have just requested it be cancelled as the rest of the food had hit the spot but I didn't. The ahi poke turned out to be late and dissappointing. We ordered to go salads. Add protein. We each received the smallest amount of protein I've ever seen. Literally laughable. My wife's Cesar salad wasn't even a salad. They put 3 heads of Romain lettuce in a box. NOTHING ELSE! She has to cut up her own lettuce and add toppings from our fridge. Nearly $50 for ALMOST salads. And for the price of A SALAD that has an additional fee for protein (again, almost $50 for two salads) there should be more protein. As far as toppings on the side. There were no toppings on the side!!! The lettuce wasn't even cut. They were literally heads of romaine!!!!! And while I'm at it... to go orders without napkins or silverware being offered either is sad! The quality of what we did have had potential if whomever made it and served it cared at all. Lastly the problem with saying address this immediately is, the food is packed, bagged and tied in knots so no one knows what they are getting until they get home. We have been coming here for three years. We've never had a bad meal. Every dish we've tried has been exceptional. From Sirloin with mashed potatoes, gravy and roasted corn, New York Strip with baked potato and vegetables to roast turkey with all the trimmings. The chefs are rockstars. Don't miss out on trying this place! We came in on a Saturday around 5pm for a late lunch or early dinner. It was not packed yet. But you may want to call to be sure if you have a time limit. When we walked in we were greeted by the hostesses. They immediately asked us how many were dining and a few minutes later someone came to seat us. They asked if we were ok sitting in the banquet room. We said sure since we didn't know what to expect. If you are looking for quiet, politely decline and they will seat you somewhere else. The banquet room is right by the bar and not quiet. There were large parties in there and it was just us as a party of 2. It was very load, but the staff did amazing! The server immediately came to ask us if we wanted drinks. We started with a pomegranate mule and a blueberry mule. They were delicious. Next we went for the onion blossom and the flavor was incredible. For our meals we ordered the filet medallions with garlic mashed potatoes and a side wedge salad. And a filet dinner with a baked potato and side salad. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The highlight, besides the food was the staff. We were asked several times how we were doing by everyone. Even the guy who brought the food to the table had a sense of urgency and asked if we needed anything. And the bartenders too. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Upon arrival back room was very stuffy and smoky as if something was burning.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Yes we had a large party but we were also celebrating a 40th birthday, the place wasn't super busy for a Friday night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As the server began to take our orders things became a little chaotic, within our large party we had a good amount of smaller children who order off the kids menus things such as spaghetti and corn dogs. After everyone ordered and we waited for our dinner, things such as skillets of scalding hot mushrooms and other appetizers were brought out but not a single kids meal. My child who is only 3 who doesn't understand why his food was taking so long took about 35 minutes or so to arrive to the table, buy that time my steak and potatoes were ice cold!!!! I had to ask two separate servers about his meal and not once did anyone apologize for the extended wait time for his meal. Not only is the menu beyond expensive (11 dollars) for a very small kids meal is just outrageous! Our tap water was never refilled, no napkins were ever brought or any type of sauce such steak sauce at a steakhouse was offered. The overall service was terrible, and after we received our checks which equaled to about 1,100 including tip which was not deserved, an employee proceeded to tell us we were being way to loud and needed to leave. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Now get this, it's a bar area in which we were seated and it wasn't a problem until after we paid such a crazy bill![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If I had it my way, I wouldn't have left the server a single dollar!!! I will not be back here and I do not recommend it!! ZERO STARS and no one left early due to a disturbance, one group of people let giving us dirty looks but the fact that a lie was made up to make this place feel better about how we were treated is ridiculous, in fact two other parties joined in and sang happy birthday to the person we had come to celebrate.
