I love this spot. Oddly, I still absolutely love the food too. I'm not a huge fish fan, but I'll eat the fish and shrimp here. I also really enjoy the hush puppies. They're always crispy on the outside and soft/warm on the inside This one is located as a dual fast food spot with a Taco Bell, I've never eaten inside, this is the kind of food you take to go and eat at home. I can't speak to the cleanliness of the restaurant itself, but I'm sure it's satisfactory. I am rating the one star because they have a sign, once you're trapped in the drive thru that states they will not take orders or serve Long John Silvers in the drive thru. Then they try to pull some BS about how they want the food to be warm and fresh... okay and? It wouldn't be if I was in my car and got it? If you have to ask people to drive around and park so be it. I don't understand how they can have a sign, only visible once you're trapped in the drive thru at the first menu board, that states they don't sell in the drive thru half of what's offered. It's frustrating and misleading. I wonder if this is some weird company policy or if this is strictly this location. The only other location is in Troutdale and with another coupled with another Taco Bell. I'm half tempted to take the drive out there to see if they pull this crap too. read more

I have never had a good experience at this LJS. It is far from my home so I've only been a handful of times but every time I've made the long drive out there the fish has tasted like it's been sitting under a heat lamp for hours, which is a disgusting flavor and texture for fish so very unlikely to ever return. Not sure if it's bc of the combo w Taco Bell or what but when there were standalone LJS, when I was much younger, the fish was always very hot and fresh tasting. Not the case anymore. read more

This was my first time trying Long John Silver's, and I was pleasantly surprised. Now I am partial to fried fish, but almost everything I got tasted good. The fish, shrimp, fries, and hush puppies were all of a higher quality than i expected. The chicken is weak, so i won't get that again, but overall pretty good. What wasn't great was the service. I was standing at the counter waiting quite a while to order, my sides were chosen for me without my input, and i had to wait again just to get some tartar sauce. Unless I'm waiting in a mile long In-n-Out burger line I tend to expect my fast food to come to me fast. We decided to try this LJS again last night, but again, disappointed. 2 bigs issues: time and fish. Granted they had a busy drive-thru at the time, but we (and the 2 cars in front of us) were asked (after already being in the line for about 10 mins) to pull around and wait. It was another 15 mins from that point to get our food brought out to the car. An excessive wait for fast food? Now if the food has been fabulous and hot maybe just maybe it might've been worth a longer than average wait. And the chicken did satisfy, hot and cooked perfectly. The fish on the other hand, was well, unacceptable. Neither piece was hot, barely warm actually, and one piece had almost no fish inside. The fries were warm but not plentiful, and the hush puppies barely warm. To sum up... hot, tasty chicken and not-so-hot-and-tasty everything else. read more

Guy mumbles into the receiver and I cannot understand him at all and he gives me attitude that I can't understand him. I waited FOREVER in the line for LJS to be closed before 7pm on a Sunday. Well folks, I was craving some crunchy plum juicy shrimp fried shrimp. That is so I decided to go to Long John Silver. I've haven't been there in quite some time, and I like to give credit where credit is due. Unfortunately, this place failed me big-time. I went through the drive-through ordered my shrimp six piece I didn't get my food, hot and fast which is a plus as soon as I pop the first shrimp in my mouth I instantly regretted it. It was very very salty and greasy and now I remember why I haven't been here in such a long time, so I decided for my next trip I'll takeoff the breading. Maybe that would help it did just a little bit but not much. I'm glad I only spent six dollars on six shrimp and at that I still felt like I was ripped off. Been craving long John silvers for a while and notice this location. The reviews on here kind of scared me but was gonna risk it. Upon arriving, the location is clean, spotless, and decided to eat in. Ordered the chicken combo with fries and extra hush puppies. The cashier was very friendly and had no issue offering my meal. He said it would take a few mins to fry everything and would bring it out. The chicken was perfect along with the hush puppies. Tasted the way they always have. I notice people complain about how greasy it was, but then again it's all fried food so that is 100% expected. The fries were okay but Long John Silvers was never known for their fries. I will most definitely be coming back even if it's 15 miles away from me. read more

Okay I've been a Long John Silvers Fan since my teen years in Cali. I've been longing for those hush puppies since I moved back home. I was informed Beaverton had a Taco Bell with a hidden Long Johns Housed inside and we immediately v-lined our way here to check out the food. The fish and shrimp were both crispy and moist inside. The hush puppies were just as delicious as my 14 year old self remembered fluffy carb filled pieces of heaven ;) I would come back when in the area. My only complaints were 1)no drink comes with the $8 plus meals and 2)the coleslaw side was 3 bites No lie :( The restaurant is more Taco Bell but that's not a problem if you don't mind waiting longer for your food. read more

I was driving around looking for something for lunch when I stumbled across LJS in Hillsboro. Fond memories of my childhood in south eastern Virginia come flooding into my mind as I pull into the drive through. First impressions are not great, since the person taking my order mumbled quickly and was hard to understand. Going for an old staple, I got the chicken and fish meal, with a Diet Pepsi. As I wait my turn to pay and retrieve my food, I think back to how much I used to enjoy LJS and would get extra hush puppies just because they were awesome. The same person from the ordering speaker mumbled something to me as she handed me my food and off I went to satisfy my fix for fish and chips. I parked my car and started my picnic with the chicken. Still hotter than the sun, I enjoyed the flood of nostalgia as I then went for one of the always coveted hush puppies. This is where memory and reality start to diverge. The hush puppies were barely warm and very greasy. Now, to be fair, I haven't had one in close to 25 years, but these weren't the crispy orbs of love that I recall. Disappointing. I passed over the fries. Nothing good or bad. Just not what I was after. Finally, I tried the fish. Again, haven't had LJS in a long time, but the taste caught me by surprise and I literally spit it out into my napkin. The only description for the taste was something akin to the flavor imagined from a burning tire. It tasted like hot plastic. No fish, not even the expected oil flavor. Maybe someone mistook 10W-40 for vegetable oil? Not sure. All in all, pretty disappointing. Might be I just got unlucky, but based on others' reviews, I suspect not. I haven't eaten LJS in several years, and I had a craving. Since I was in the Portland area, we jogged over to Hillsboro to get some despite the dismal reviews. I never remember ANY LJS combos including a drink, but this location offers drinks with their combos. The fish and fries and hush puppies were super fresh and warm and crispy. The staff was friendly and we stopped in the parking lot to check the order since so many were complaining about getting the wrong order. The order was correct, spot on! So I decided to try a hush puppy before heading home, and OH MY GOD!! So tender and buttery soft! Better than any hush puppy I've ever gotten from LJS! I don't know why there are so many bad reviews, because there wasn't really anything I could find worth complaining about! I forgot to ask for sauce!! That's easily remedied! Keep up the good work! Guy taking my order was incredibly rude. Seems like he was trying to deliberately obfuscate and confuse, kept laughing the whole time I was trying to clearly state what I wanted. Staff shortages are really showing given the caliber people they're currently hiring. Totally unacceptable. Spoke to his manager, didn't seem to care. Very disappointed order two 2 piece shrimp and fish meals, I received two 2 piece chicken meals. The hush puppies were so hard I could break a window was unable to eat and the fries were old and stale. I tried calling and voicemail was full. It was to far for me to drive back. I ordered one item, then asked to put slaw in it--then I noticed (no the uninvolved person taking my order didn't tell me, I had to read for myself) that there was indeed a meal WITH the slaw. So I said, "Let me change that...I want to order (the other meal) and that comes with two sides right?" "Yes" "Are the two hush puppies shown a side?" "Yes" "Okay, then I want the fish, slaw and the two hush puppies. NO POTATOES. I also want a large iced tea." "Ok." Not Thank you or Would you like a dessert? Just "ok" Then I say "You have that order?" "Yes." Then she says "pull up to the 2nd window price is (blank). I drive up, again, zero personality. No smile, no nothing. I give her the credit card, she gives it back. She hands back the bag and no drink. Then she says "Oh your drink." and she pours the drink and hands it to me. I leave, and get to my desk. I open it up and it is 2 pieces of fish thrown on top of a bag of POTATOES which I cannot eat. If I would have eaten the fish on the way home as I drove, I could have had a trip to the hospital. So now I have contaminated fish, no food I can eat, but I have like ten hush puppies. So, you get 2 hush puppies with the meal and then she ADDED a side. I would have had two slaws if she had said that. I asked "Are the two hush puppies you see a side?" "Yes" she had said. Well, no fun, no lunch for me. But I thought, things happen. I will call the store and explain it and see if I can replace it next week or something. I don't have time to drive back up there today. I call the store. I ask to speak to the store manager. I wait and wait and I hear them talking to one another in the background. Then after a wait, the original person comes back to the phone and says "The manager is busy." "Are you serious?" I ask. "Yes." "Wow". So you might have caused an allergic reaction on me, I have no lunch. I have wasted my time to come get it, I have wasted my time to call you. And you are too busy to TALK TO A CUSTOMER? Wow. So just know, the management at this Taco Bell/Long John Silvers has no time for their customers. This was a busy time but not mid lunch. I was craving fish. I didn't figure LJS would be the best option for my craving but I thought I would give them a chance. I ordered the 2 for 6 and got the 5 piece shrimp and 2 fish. I choked down 3 of the shrimp and threw the other 2 in the trash. I did choke down the 2 pieces of fish because I was very hungry. Long John's in an acquired taste. If you grew up eating it, you crave it from time to time. This used to be the only Long John Silvers within 1000 miles. Now there are a few more popping up around the Pacific Northwest. Something about eating LJS this close to the actual coast seems a little strange, but some cravings just can't be explained. I could eat fried shrimp and hush puppies for every meal. I've been coming here to satisfy my cravings for a few years, and there's nothing to dislike. This is quite possibly the cleanest fast food joint I've ever been in. Its so clean I really had to try hard to convince myself not to eat the hush puppy I dropped on the floor. It's the most affordable fish and chips you can find. The fish is cooked fresh and it shares the space with a taco bell in case there are folks with you that don't want fish. I've been here a few different times and it's hit or miss. A couple times I had to wait 10-15 minutes for food but at least it's been fresh and hot every time. There are other people in these reviews complaining that the food is too salty and/or greasy. Just to be clear-- that is what LJS is. It is extremely greasy salty food to eat once every 6 months and then feel terrible for the rest of the evening for eating it. You wrap your fish in about 15 napkins to blot the oil and it still makes your face break out for a week. Complaining on Yelp about the batter being too salty is about as useful as complaining to the homeless person standing outside the McDonald's that you don't like the McNugget batter. Tonight's order was hot and crispy and served with an awkward but agreeable smile. I only got 3 napkins which is kind of like including a free joke. I don't like coleslaw so I got extra hush puppies instead and I have like 8 leftover from the meal and I'm pretty excited about that. read more

This Taco Bell has gone to crap. It used to be very nice, clean ,fast, and the food was decent. The last two times we have had to wait 15 minutes to get our food. While we ate people were leaving without ordering. Other customers came in from the drive thru to complain about the speed and having messed up orders. We really enjoyed our visit. Nice, clean, quiet, well stocked restaurant. Very friendly workers and we enjoyed our meals. Only thing is, is that the Long John Silvers side of the restaurant is not served all hours unfortunately. I think the serving of the LJS cuts off at 8 pm. While the service was professional, this location does not serve Cod. The fish that I had was sort of grey and the middle was not cooked all the way thru. The tartar sauce was somewhat rancid. It had been years since I ate at LJS so the memory of what the food is really like was fairly faint. It was not good at all. It was mostly deep fried batter. The "fish" was fried to a jerky like state and the crab cake was pure mush. 7.99 for that is highway robbery.
