The fish and chips were outstanding--perfectly crispy on the outside, flaky and fresh on the inside, and cooked to perfection. The clam chowder was hands down the most flavorful I've ever had, rich, creamy, and packed with clams in every bite. What makes this place even better is that the quality far exceeds what you'd expect from a food truck. The portions were generous, the ingredients tasted fresh, and every bite was packed with flavor. Food was fresh and crispy. The batter is really nice and light. Got the salt & pepper seasoning for $1 extra, really liked the nicely charred o ions & peppers you get with that. The potato sidewinders are delicious--fluffy with perfectly crunchy outside. My only issue was that the cod pieces are so tiny!! I have never had such small pieces of fish with fish and chips! I see so w photos here with much larger pieces, others that are similar. Would be nice to know what you are going to get That being said, everything was well seasoned, I will try it again for the garlic honey and soft shell crab special. Our first time here and this place was calling me with a sign that read "rock fish plate" I've always wanted to try rock fish and I'm glad I did this spot fried them up in a light batter the pieces big fat and juicy along with fresh hot crispy fries and a side of slaw it all was so very delicious not a fishy aftertaste but with a juicy meaty white flaky fish that hit the spot .my new go to fish and chips is here . Coastal Vibes was amazing. My husband and I really wanted some fish and chips while visiting Portland, and found this place. It's located at Food Cart Pod, along with other food trucks. We were able to order right away. The owner was friendly and answered all of our questions. We ordered the fish and chips and the seafood chowder. It was a small wait, but the owner brought our food to us. We were sitting at a table and purchased some lemonade from another food truck. Since it was a little chilly, we ate in the car. The food was piping hot, yet soooo delicious. It had a ton of flavor. The seafood chowder was the perfect consistency with chunks of clams and shrimp. I ordered the three piece rockfish basket for $18. It was about a 10 minute wait so the fish was fresh and hot. The batter wasn't too thick. It was crispy and flavorful with and without tartar sauce. Located near a bunch of other food carts, just on the side of a building, it's hard to tell this place is there but once you notice it you have to try it! I came by on a Wednesday evening with pretty much no one else around so service of course was quick. Both the server and the chef were great making sure I had what I needed and knew all about their offerings! They were not kidding about the fish and chips with the hot honey sauce being amazing! I would definitely recommend trying that out! As for the option for sides, they had fries, tots and, sidewinder fries. I ended up with normal fries and they were seasoned perfectly! I haven't had fries this well seasoned from a food truck ever! Would highly recommend anyone looking for fish and chips to come here, they also had a seafood chowder which was also great, had all kinds of great seafood in it! This fish and chowder food truck is a true hidden gem! I feel like I found a huge pearl in the oyster! The cod fish and chips had the perfect amount of batter fried to perfection. The fish was moist with just the right amount of crisp batter crust. I had it salt and pepper style with a salty peppering of sliced onion and pepper. But, the real star was the chowder! Loaded with clams, fish and shrimp in a creamy, but light soup. It was perfectly seasoned and served with oyster crackers. The tartar sauce, cocktail sauce and coleslaw were all house made and delicious. Wally and Henry run a tight ship, friendly and efficient. Food was nice and hot! I will definitely be back.
