    Dave's Hot Mozz 5 Piece
    Nathan E.

I've been here a couple times now. Both times the food was excellent. The staff was competent and the price for the mozzarella sticks was fair. The five piece mozzarella sticks is $10. With that side, this location does get busy in the evenings, so I recommend ordering ahead. Also, the cleanliness of the restaurant could've been better.

Not bad, not bad at all. I've gone to this Dave's location at least four times now, and I'd say things are pretty consistent. Here's what's hot about Dave's: * Parking * If you're familiar with this shopping area, you'll know that this parking lot can be a nightmare at times. During lunch, not so bad. Luckily they are right next to an open lot, so parking shouldn't be an issue. * Ordering, Service, and Dining-in * Only one time out of the four visits have I had a bad experience while ordering. But the last time was with Ash, who identified himself, and helped out while placing my order. He also buzzed the pager and asked if I needed anything else. Thanks Ash! The tables appear to be cleaned off as well. So no issues with service or dine-in. * Tenders, Bites, and Fries * I've tried the following: ~ Dave's #3, with 1 Hot Chicken Tender and a Chicken Slider w/ Fries ($13.99) ordered medium and it was pretty tasty. I didn't care much for the slider, as the little toasted bread didn't make a difference. I guess you can say I didn't notice it. ~ Dave's #1 with 2 Hot Chicken Tenders and Fries ($12.99), this I liked! Even just two tenders still filled me up. The fries are just OK. I don't mind crinkle-cut fries. ~ 10 pc. Dave's Bites w/ Fries ($9.99), now I wasn't sure if there actually were ten bites, but I had these HOT and boy were they HOT. A nice but manageable heat indeed. Overall, I like this Dave's location. It's in a popular eating area so just be aware of the possible parking madness. Service is fine, dining-in is fine. Their cuts of chicken breast are satisfying, and you can adjust the heat level to your liking. Knowing me, I'll be back.

This location gets pretty busy and even with a large parking lot, it can be hard to find parking at times. Order ahead and save yourself from having to wait. We like to order the chicken sliders and fries with extra sauce on the side. Always fresh and hot.

So nice I had to have it twice, in one week! My first visit was during the lunch hour with a coworker on a Monday afternoon. It was busy but not overcrowded with plenty of places to sit both inside and out. Staff were friendly, ordering was easy and the food came out quickly. I got a slider and fries and wow, the chicken and fries were seasoned and cooked to perfection. Seriously so good. I cannot believe I'm only having this now. I loved everything about the slider including the slaw and pickles. I think this is a much better value and quality than other chicken places. Because I loved it so much, I came back the following weekend with my husband so that he could try it for the first time and we had another great experience. Staff were consistently attentive and helpful. Food was great. Thank you!

These guys are always super friendly, no matter how busy or what time of the day! Their food is pretty great and they are open super late. This is one of those super late hangout spots these days so the parking lot can be a bit full - seriously, be careful...I had a younger girl falling over drunk right as I was trying to exit the parking lot. She was pretty small and hard to see. Cramped parking lots can be a bit tricky - especially since a lot of vehicles are huge oversized trucks. But this is where everyone goes to get some hangover cure.

What a cool little chicken spot. Stopped by for a quick lunch. The food came out quick and tasted great. The decor really pops. It's located in a cute outdoor shopping center. If you're in the area, it's a nice place to grab a bite.

If you want to burn your butthole this place don't mess around. Their spicy had me gasping more than when i see margot robbie in wolf of wallstreet. Honestly doe the chicken is as juicy as me right after the shower. And their sauce is the best fried chicken spot hands down fite me otherwise. Bulk approved bootyhole burned!

I knew about Dave's chicken for a really long time but never tried it. Apparently, we have been missing out because the chicken sliders were really tasty. It was quite late at night (like 11 ish) and we were hungry after going to a concert. Desperate to eat anything, we quickly googled a place to go and Dave's chicken was the closest to our location. Let me tell you, it was a relief when we saw the shop was well lit and still filled with customers. We quickly ordered a meal and the food came quickly. I got a mild chicken slider and my fiancé got the medium spicy one. The sliders were big, made fresh and the chicken was hot and tender. After a long night, it was heavenly. We also appreciated the fries and pickles as they completed the meal. The chocolate milk shake was delicious as well as it wasn't overly sweet and had a nice chocolate flavor. Would we come back very often? Probably not as fried chicken isn't the healthiest option. However, if we ever crave fried chicken and/or need some good late-night food, we will definitely return to Dave's chicken.

Tried out this location for the first time and was pleased. Clean dining area and friendly staff. Ordered the medium heat chicken tenders which were juicy but not too spicy. I would definitely go with the hot next time! Fries are nicely seasoned and liked that it came with Pickles! Sauce was ok, not overly flavorful but chicken had enough seasoning. Yummy! Will come again!

I'm a sucker for fried chicken, and I loved this place. The spicy seasoning and special cheese sauce hit the spot. I do wish they added more sauce to the fries, but I guess that's how they get you with the extra charge.

Friendliest manager (gal with strawberry blondish hair and glasses) that seems to treat her team with fun and respect every time I've seen her interact with them. This location is always efficient and clean. Food is consistently amazing for what it is. Moist chicken tenders, great sauce , even better pickles. The pieces of chicken are always a decent size. It's not the cheapest lunch option, but the quality is this definitely there.

Great to have such an accessible fast food halal option nearby! Service can be super quick, but definitely recommend being willing to wait as during busy times it can significantly slow down. Good news is they also have an order ahead option via the app to bypass the rush of ordering in person. Another reason to consider ordering through the app for pickup is the noise level can get really loud when dining in. The music is loud, and the din from other diners seems to echo. Not exactlythe right place for dates or to bring young children, but if the weather is nice they do have outdoor seating options!

Another Dave's, another delicious lunch! I got there around 1:30pm but it wasn't busy, only 1 person in front of me. Like I said in a review of a different location, Dave's continually impresses me with the streamlined consistency of their food regardless of which location I eat at, and this spot checks all the boxes as well. The chicken was perfectly seasoned with my favorite "medium" spice. They were thick, juicy, and moist, having the same high quality I've come to love. The fries are insanely good too by the way. They always come out pipping hot, cooked perfectly with such a satisfying crunch to them. Plus the seasoning they use on the fries is great too. Staff was friendly, happy to accommodate us when we asked for more of Dave's delicious sauce. Fantastic and filling lunch as always. If you haven't eaten as Dave's before you really need too. And if you have, it's time to go back.

All of the different flavors we tried had a perfect balance of crunch, flavor, and juicyness. The wings were nicely sized, so they are good on the portion size there. Surprisingly, my favorite part of this place was not even the chicken. It was the rose pasta with chicken! Its super creamy, rich, and perfectly cooked. If you love pasta and heavy rich sauce, this doesn't miss! The kimchi pasta is good too, but I def recommend the rose more! Cool vibes inside, tons of parking outside, and the servers were all nice and attentive. Def recommend bringing your hungry friends!

Updated review as of 6/24/26…read more - ordered 8 pieces spicy original and 8 pieces of soy garlic - wanted to place just one order of 18 pieces with half & half but was told that is not an option. Minus one star for not being able to customize based on preference and that personally felt like it was not worth $1.50 to place two separate orders. Even the manager told us as much as he would have liked to help, not something he could as the owners informed them no. This was something very disappointing as other Korean fried chicken places within town allow you to customize and not charge you extra. - had a side of cheesy sticks, which server informed us it's basically mozzarella sticks, kind of disappointed when it came out as parts of the sticks cold probably from the cheese inside and the crunch on the outside of the cheesy sticks was lacking as well. It felt like biting down on a stale prefrozen sticks that didn't get warmed up enough and definitely not fresh or crispy like it was right out of the fryer. Minus another star from that - ambience was low dimmed lights which really was not appealing from the outside, I thought they were closed when we walked by then walked up saw some people but not very obvious until you're right up to the glass. Inside was chilled cold, like AC and fans all blasting. Which was not expected, had to grab a Columbia Omni heat weather proof jacket, maybe would recommend toning it down when it's in the evening like the last 90 minutes before closing to conserve energy and perhaps turn the lights on brighter to attract customers. Minus another star here. - batter for spicy original was good, the golden standard and chicken was juicy, really would be shocked if this was subpar. Soy garlic didnt hit the spot, the crispiness was more like a glaze that you heat on high heat to let it caramelize then that's it, not much crunch and flavor to it other than that outer layer. So this was disappointing as well.

I usually buy both of the BOGO offers, and I've done this a few times in the past, and they've all gone fine, no problems. I get my 4x10pc wing orders without issue. Yesterday I did the same thing - I ordered 2 BOGOs, expecting my usual 40 wings. But when I walked into pick it up, the Asian lady at the counter (I think she's the owner, maybe?) chastised me and told me to limit myself to just 1 BOGO order in the future. Huh? I only got 2 BOGOs, and it's not like the price was so cheap that the restaurant was losing money or something. And besides, I've ordered these 2 BOGOs numerous times in the past. That's when I saw that the restaurant was treating any SINGLE 10pc order as a BOGO. So when I checked out with my 4 10pc orders, the restaurant took that to mean 4 BOGO orders, or in other words, EIGHT 10pc orders. No wonder the lady was upset. Of course, it's not my error, as the restaurant was interpreting the order incorrectly. I even tried my best to explain this to the lady, as well as explain that I've ordered these BOGOs multiple times in the past (and this same lady was at the desk when I picked them up!!), and it's never been an issue. Still, the lady kept insisting she was correct, and that 1 10pc order constituted a BOGO in itself, which makes absolutely zero sense, and not how literally any other merchant I've ever bought from on UberEats has done their BOGO promotions, which I also told her. Anyway, in the future, I'll still continue to order as many BOGOs as I want, I'll just probably order delivery so I don't have to deal with this nonsense. EDIT: I see the owner has responded to my review. I can certainly see how someone exploiting multiple BOGOs to order 100+ wings at a time would be harmful to the company and completely against the spirit of the promotion. But I did nothing like that. Two different BOGOs were being offered, and I simply purchased 1 of each. I've done this multiple times both at this restaurant and at numerous other restaurants that offer different BOGOs, and this was literally the first time that any restaurant worker has mentioned a word about it. The biggest issue is that the Chimcking workers are apparently a bit undertrained when it comes to processing ubereats BOGO promotions, which is why I received 80 wings instead of the 40 I was supposed to get.

Whole Chicken Meal ($27.74) - The meal comes with two 12 oz sides, an 8oz salsa, and either corn or flour tortillas. For the sides we went with the classic Mexican Rice and the Refried Beans. Both are pretty standard stuff from a Mexican restaurant. The rice is tender with still distinct grains, has an reddish color from tomatoes, and adds a scant amount of veggies mixed through. The beans are mostly smooth throughout, fatty and creamy. We went with the corn tortillas, of which they provide a whole stack of twelve, warmed until steaming, making them hot, soft, and pliable, perfect to eat with the chicken and sides. The chicken is legitimately amazing. Basically the entire restaurant smells like chicken fat being charred over mesquite. It's a mesmerizing smell that made me salivate upon walking in. The chicken is whole roasted with the dark meat and wings being cooked until succulent and juicy. The interior of the breasts are a bit dry, but there's not much that can be done with this cooking method! Otherwise, the char is excellent, creating an almost crust-like nature to the skin and the spice mix imbues a yellow glow to the entire tray. They give so much food that we only finished perhaps a quarter of it. We ended up bringing the rest home on our drive up the next day and ate it for another couple of meals. (5/5) I especially love their salsa bar off to the side of the main counter. There's so much variety, there's surely something to please anyone. They have a mild tomato, a mild but smoky, a spicy and fruity, a green tangy tomatillo, a creamy avocado, a crunchy fresh pico de gallo, a smoky and spicy, and a tangy and spicy salsa - basically all combinations someone could ask for. Even the spiciest additions are still very tolerable to my tastes. We were impressed enough to visit again the next day for lunch: Supreme Burrito al Pastor ($14.37) - This is hefty burrito, almost Mission-sized, being around 4 inch in diameter with the weight to match. It's first filled with plenty of Mexican rice, same as with the meal. For some reason, this time, the rice is hard and tough, like they had reached down to scrape the bottom of the rice cooker. It would likely be the most coveted portion of rice in a tagine or clay pot, but in a burrito, the toughness doesn't work well. On top of the rice are the refried beans, spooned over intermittently. It adds creaminess and fat to the otherwise dry exterior layers. Then the layer of meat begins - cubed pork, marinated in a savory and sweet sauce, then mixed up with chopped pineapples. It's more adobada than al pastor, and is on the sweeter end of things with the pineapple. The spice mixture isn't the most notable; they definitely focus on the chicken at El Jefe vs. the pork. Veggies, including lettuce and a pico de gallo mix cover the meat, followed by thinly shredded cheese and sour cream, which is thick and rich, perhaps more resembling crema than cream, and some guacamole, tangy and fatty. It's not the most even application - for example, the guac only covers one end of the burrito while the sour cream covers the other end. (4/5) I have to say, the chicken served at EL Jefe Grill is perfection. I would revisit just for that. Bathrooms - Two unisex rooms Note: El Jefe charges a 2.9% credit card fee. This is displayed at the register, but they have their POS set up incorrectly. Firstly, they lump the cost into the menu item instead of separating it out into a fee. Secondly, they actually charge a random fee rather than 2.9%. For example, the whole chicken meal is 3.1% and the supreme burrito is 2.7%. Very bizarre. I reported it to their management so hopefully it gets fixed soon.

The food we received was very good. The portions were massive, and everything tasted fresh. I…read morereally appreciated the salsa bar, which had tons of different salsas, pickled red onions, and more. I had the steak and chicken bowl, and my father had the barrera tacos, and we both were very satisfied. The lunch was very affordable, which I appreciated. I look forward to trying their chicken; it looked and smelled delicious. The service was great. The guy who took our order was very polite. They gave us one of those pagers that buzzes when it's ready. The ambiance was cool. It reminded me of a taco shop in LA. It had two separate seating areas. One was large, with flat screens, and the other was smaller near the register; both were comfortable and had ample seating. This place is literally seven minutes from my house. I will most certainly be back.

Basilisk is a STAPLE of this NE Sandy neighborhood, located inside what is locally known as "the…read moreZipper" building, home to several food vendors and the bar Paydirt. I have visited this spot many times over the years and the Basilisk food quality and service remains consistently good over nearly a decade of patronage. The patio at the zipper is perfect for a spring lunch date with your bestie. I order my chicken sando first and then grab a drink at Paydirt while I wait! Service is always great at Basilisk and the fried chicken is the kind you think about days later.

Basilisk is another of those Portland restaurants I regularly visited on work trips to the city in…read morethe 2010s. It's been around 7 or 8 years since my last visit but I remember the fried chicken sandwiches coming with two thick, juicy, fried boneless thighs. I found it difficult to eat more than half a sandwich given the size and excess meat. Usually I would end up pulling one thigh out and saving it for later! I decided to visit again on a recent weekend trip to Portland, arriving for an early dinner at around 4:30 PM. It was surprisingly busy, with at least a quarter of the seats taken in the shared seating pool even though it was so early in the day. Luckily there wasn't a line to order and the food came out within 15 minutes. Fried Chicken Sandwich ($13) - Just as how I remembered, this sandwich is still huge with two breaded and fried thighs on a bed of lightly dressed, crunchy cole slaw. It's really tall and doesn't compress well due to the abundant crunchy elements throughout. There's the bun that's heavily toasted until extremely, almost aggressively, crisp and almost dark golden brown, absolutely doused in butter a la Texas toast. There are house pickles on the bottom bun, very quickly pickled such that it develops no acidity, but changes to that crunchy yet soggy pickle texture. The two chicken thighs are expertly breaded until full of crags and valleys, seasoned well, and fried until crisp. The crispy quality is of a lighter variety rather than a hard crunch, very delicate as compared to a typical flour based fried chicken dredge. The chicken is different from what I remembered. Instead of being juicy full thighs, almost an inch thick at the meatiest, these patties are thin, sad, like a single thigh butterflied and cut into fourths width-wise. The breading is far thicker than the chicken itself - in fact the chicken almost is an afterthought here, completely getting lost in all the breading and everything else in the sandwich. Seriously, look at some of the photos from other Yelpers taken in 2016 and 2017 and compare to my cross section photo. It's a huge difference. I bet it's a cost cutting measure and it certainly isn't an appreciated change. Maybe it's just a sign of the times - while the 2010s air waves thumped with 'All About That Bass," the thick thighs have now unfortunately been 2020s Ozempic zapped. The major downside of the sandwich is surprisingly the bun. It's by far the most dominant component of the sandwich. It's the crunchiest element and the butter flavor completely overwhelms the taste buds. This is why fried chicken sandwiches are usually served on soft and pillowy buns, or at least buns that are only lightly toasted, so the bread can focus on and cradle the crunch element rather than supersede it. This is the first time that I can recall a sandwich where the bun is the dominant entity. (3/5) Dandan Fries ($10) - These fries are deceptively filling. They're really snackable and give a distinct moreish quality. It's like a snack where I absentmindedly keep reaching in the bag for more and suddenly it's completely empty. The fries combine a somewhat lightly fried potato, a delicate crisp on the outside and an extremely fluffy almost fall-apart tender inside, with a nutty, spicy, and mouth tingly mala sauce. The sauce is thick, rich, filled with fatty goodness. It's actually a really good glue, adhering the crushed peanuts on the fries so well, nothing falls off while lifting the fries out of the bowl. I especially love the mini cornichons mixed into the fries. They add just a bit of sweetness and acidity that balances so well with the fatty dandan inspired sauce. Without them, I think the dish would feel far too rich. With them, the fries go down the gullet at a quick rate. (5/5) I can't help but feel a little disappointed at Basilisk. It's another one of those places that seems to have decided to sacrifice quality in order to keep prices relatively low. While I enjoyed the Dandan Fries, I'm not sure that's enough of a draw to get me to revisit. Bathrooms - Four unisex rooms shared with the other establishments in the building.
