Aybla Grill - Super Gyro (chicken)
Kim R.

We ordered a super and a regular chicken gyro, a combo with fries on the latter. Plenty of fries for 2 to share...they were definitely appreciated since hand cut vs directly from the bag. The gyros were a good size, with plenty of chicken. My only real complaint was that I had to steal lettuce from my husbands super not realizing my regular didn't come with any. The flavors were good, service friendly. And of course the court is fabulous, with loads of space and tables (for humans and pets), including a heated patio/bar area.

Fries bowl with chicken. So delicious!
Allison B.

I got the fries bowl with chicken (the lamb is not gluten free but the chicken is) and holy moly; the flavor is incredible. The chicken itself was seasoned so well and it wasn't dry. Then there is an orange sauce (maybe the garlic sauce?) and delicious tzatziki (they didn't skimp on the tzatziki ), feta, parmesan, tomato, red onion and herbs on top of fries. It's a hefty serving too. It makes at least two meals for me. This is my new favorite meal at the Beaverton food carts for sure.

bland Mediterranean plate with chicken, they didnt give me the pita bread that was supposed to come with it
Brandilyn T.

Never again. I really wanted to try Mediterranean food but this place was just annoying. I wasn't greeted or anything although as I walked up to the food cart I said "Hello" and the guy who is the owner just immediately asked what I wanted in a grouchy way. I brushed it off and ordered a Mediterranean plate with grilled chicken and a side of fries. The plate wasn't warm at all, and the portion to flavor to price was not it. I didn't even get the pita bread that it was supposed to be included in it. The owner wasn't even busy, I was the only one that ordered and no one else was behind or in front of me. He rushed my order just so that he could talk with his friend that visited him. I don't recommend this place. Rude owner, lack of flavor AND food, not worth it.

Beef and lamb Gyro

This place is so delicious every time I come here I get the lamb and beef Gyro and add feta. Literally the best food if I can eat this food for the rest of my life I would. The man is so nice that is always working there, too. When I walked up he asked me how I was doing and was very smiley and kind. 6/5 stars!!

Gyro Fries Combo

Overall: Average. Food: Tried the Gyro Fries Bowl Combo and it was nothing special. I've had much better versions of this combination. The meat was too chunky and didn't suit they dish as smaller, thinner slices would have worked better with the fries. However the seasoning of the fries and the sauces were great and the portion size was reasonable. Service: Nothing special.

Great choice in the BG Food Cartel. I have tried many of their options and keep going back. It's hard to choose when you have so many great carts available in one spot but this one is a winner!

Falafel pita
Martina C.

Meh. I have had FAR better Mediterranean food. The hummus was an odd flavor, which reminded me of lamb, and as a vegan that was WEIRD. The falafel was nice and crisp but didn't have very much flavor. The veggies on the pita weren't the freshest but they were okay. I didn't eat most of them and scraped the hummus and veggies off about 2/3 since one of my falafels fell out. All in all, I would definitely skip it. The service was good but if the food isn't then why bother? ‍ I was disappointed as I was really looking forward to a falafel!

Aybla Grill Food Truck at Thermofisher Scientific, Hillsboro, OR

Hillsboro, OR The BEST Gyro ever! I lived in Greece for a year and this compares with the best I had there. The meat is perfectly prepared and cooked, the tzatziki accents the onion, tomato and feta cheese and it's all wrapped in a crispy pita cloud. My mouth is watering just writing this. I can't review the rest of the menu because I always have to have the Super Lamb and Beef Gyro. Enjoy.

We thought this truck was pretty great. Our food was out quick, it tasted fresh, and a good portion of meat in the gyros.

The best gyros around this part of town. The food cart off Alder is the one I used to go to before it closed.

Many people are enjoying themselves, I see business meetings and friends meetings, couples having dinner. I am greeted the bar keep is busy as more people enter at first I only saw a few people. He explained that he was solo today. I was given great service not too pushy but attentive. The souvlaki is on the menu. It arrives with raw onions with some sumac lighted sprinkled. Lamb skewers on a bed of lettuce. Some really tasty garlic yogurt sauce. The lamb well done lightly charred. The flavors were amazing they could have backed off and left a bit of pink inside but delicious. Somewhat still tender. The garlic sauce tasty I could not get enough. Pitas were fresh slightly toasted. A side of feta cheese which was a bit dry but still adding to the overall flavor. I finished with baklava, syrupy like I had in Istanbul at the deli. Only missing the Turkish coffee. A little grungy atmosphere which is typical for this part of town. Overall nice experience, food was really good.

This location feels more like a bar than a restaurant. It's just the vibe I get, and there's nothing wrong with that. They did have a decent list of beers on tap, so that's cool. We each ordered an entree, hungry from a long drive. I was enticed by the "Mad Greek" sandwich, which is allegedly their signature sandwich on an artisan roll, while wifey wanted to go more Mediterranean and ordered the Meat Dolmathes Special. The Mad Greek sandwich was a bit disappointing. The quantity was good, with a pile of meat included, but overall wasn't very distinctive in any way. The bun was a bit dry, and there is no way I would call it 'artisan' or anything special. It was basically a lot of meat on a pretty dry, forgettable sandwich. The Meat Dolmathes special looked attractive, but the stuffed grape leaves were a little tough, and ended up being a bit unappetizing. We've had plenty of dolmas, and these didn't really meet the standard. The potatoes are thick battered wedges, which is a style preference, so just be aware. While service was friendly enough, the overall food was pretty meh. I was hopeful that the experience would have been more positive, but alas, not all plates or restaurants can be the best. Ending on a positive, the volume of food was good for the money.

The main text: Lunchtime came and went, and we (spouse and I) stopped at a very non-descript Middle Eastern food place because it was close. I was not expecting much, considering the look of the place, but hunger won out over low expectations and in we went. I ordered the spicy lamb shawarma, and my wife ordered the beef shawarma. The order came out of the kitchen immediately, and man, my entree looked so promising. I took a couple of bites, and great googly-moogly, it was fantastic! I couldn't believe how good it was. It's hard for me to accurately recall a specific meal from decades ago, and then the meals in the decades leading up to the present time, but you know something? I think this might have been the best shawarma I've ever had. Yeah, it was that good. So many wonderful, complex flavors, all the ingredients tasted very fresh, and the slices of lamb were thick and so tender. You must try the shawarma from here if you are a fan of this dish. BTW, it was also huge in size and quite filling. I went out of there fat and happy. And yes, my wife concurred with all this praise. She loved her shawarma as well. Epilogue: I haven't had anything else at this restaurant, but I can testify that the shawarma is revelatory. You like shawarma? Go there today.

Gyro included the highest quality (and variety) of ingredients -- prepared and presented in a "tasteful" and beyond delicious way. I'm typically a "purest" with Chicago's gryo being the standard. Shockingly, for me to admit, these gyros are simply amazing. Each bite is savory, tangy, crunchy, refreshing, filled with textures and hitting notes I wasn't expecting. I am swooning! Sadly, we live NE and don't get to the far west side of town often. However we ARE planning a return trip soon. I want to mention they offer bulgogi (which my husband loved) and options Sharma, too. Rather than a sandwich, any meat can be ordered as a salad or rice bowl. Seated patrons were eating ALL of the menu options. Fries are crispy and can be topped with any combination--or LOADED with all of it. Many canned and bottled beverages (and Coke a Cola on tap) are available: cider and sofa (pop for us Midwesterners). The staff was super helpful and retrieved every beverage from the frig for the patrons, delivered meals and provided extra napkins spontaneously. Thus is an amazing place for lunch or dinner. The shop is small but has adequate tables which handled the lunch crowd well. They close for couple hours at 1430-smart business sense. Naturally carry out is available. We'll be back in a few weeks!

My husband & I, my sister and my son all went for lunch on a Saturday. It wasn't quite what I was expecting but we were all pleasantly surprised. Everybody but me got the spiced lamb souvlai, which was ground meat on a skewer. I tried the oregano chicken. Mine was tender, flavorful grilled chicken. I loved it! I have always thought of souvlaki as a Greek version of a gyro-meat in a pita wrap with sauce & veggies. Not here. You get the meat and a pickled vegetable and that's it. That's why you need some sides and bread. The bread is better than a lot of pita I've had. We also got an order of hummas (some of the best I've had anywhere. Maybe it's because they put a dab of zhoug-a mixture of herbs & spices packed with flavor. It was as smooth as silk), as well as beet salad. It had quinoa that seemed to have been fried because it had a slight crunch which I loved. It was the perfect foil for the golden beets and radish in the salad. We ordered just the right amount of food for the 4 of us (one piece of pita each, one salad, one hummus and an order each of souvlaki). I noticed some vegetarian options on the menu as well. We all agreed we want to come back and bring the spouses who couldn't make it. Looks like I forgot to take pics of the meat. You'll just have to be surprised!

And since I didn't want to order half the menu I just went for the falafel balls and the halloumi fries. Again I think it's bizarre that they don't offer a little sampler platter for you to try a few things. But I digress. The falafel balls were hard as rocks. They were fried too much and they weren't anything special. The fries were also nothing special the least they could've done was actually melt the cheese on the fries to make them gooey but they didn't even do that. The service was wonderful. And I did enjoy having the kitchen in the middle of the restaurant so you can watch some cooking your food. However the food here was not worth coming back for. I'm starting to realize a lot of people in Portland don't have sophisticated pallets they're probably the same people who think McDonald's serves gourmet cheeseburgers. I also don't understand why a Greek restaurant is serving Middle Eastern food like falafel? It would be nice if they had strictly Greek dishes and stuck to them and made them really well. I don't know any other Greek restaurant in Portland especially on the east side.
