I love Firehouse. The ingredients are always high quality and the food is consistently fresh. It's my go-to sandwich spot. My only complaint is that the sauce can make the sandwich a bit soggy if you're ordering it to go. Once I started asking for the sauce on the side, the problem completely disappeared. They're definitely feeling the cost of meat. Got a new york steamer which is my favorite from them. What was once filled with moist, fall-apart meat is now filled with stringy, gristly, hard-to swallow dryness. At first i thought it was just the bacon which- even then - is a problem. Unlike the sandwich shop, I just reviewed, firehouse subs are a cut above their competitors by miles, in my opinion. Their sandwiches are delicious, and you get to choose whatever condiments you want on them. They also have wonderful side, dishes, creamy, hot and healthy. The customer service is exceptional. They greet you when you come in. They take your orders quickly. You are allowed to make whatever changes that you want to whatever sandwich you want. You can order double meat if you'd like more protein. They steam the sandwiches, I believe, I'm not sure . All I know is that they are delicious and filling. Another thing that I love about this place, is wonderful little nuances. For example, each location has a hand-done painting that represents the special things about that particular location where the restaurant is located. So one could visit different firehouse, locations, and take photos of each individual painting, and find the various special things about that particular town. It's can be a fun thing to entertain the kids during long road trips. The company also allows you to round up your payment, if you choose to do so, they do not make an issue of it at all. But what's wonderful, is if you round up even by a few pennies, it all adds up and it goes to help fire stations around the country...... plus it's easier to remember what you paid so that you can enter it into your account book later/or account computer, because it's a nice round number. (Some of these pluses might not mean anything to the younger generation yet, but when you get older up into your 60s, it gets harder to remember things, and you tend to really appreciate services like the FIRE DEPARTMENT. Let's see, I'm not sure I've covered it all. So just in case: the food is delicious, it's a reasonable price, the place is always clean, they donate to the fire department and to the communities where each firehouse sub is located. They are kid-friendly, family-friendly. I don't own any stock in their company, I have no ulterior motive at all for giving every single firehouse that I've ever been to this same review. I have personally been to this particular firehouse subs location. I have been to many of them across Oregon, and in California, and in many places in the central USA. I can honestly say, that I wish they were more Restaurant, and other conscientious companies like Firehouse Subs. I'm hoping that more companies like them will be the wave of the future. read more

Update to my below post. Brandon from Firehouse Sub, took the time to hear my frustration and worked with Door dash. He was able get a refund, but even if he had not, the effort he put into customer service would have had me back on here saying thank you!! Actively listening goes a long way in building relationships. Great job Brandon I will definitely be ordering a sandwich again this week! Made the mistake of ordering pick up, instead of delivery by a delivery company. "This error I own!" My complaint is i called Firehouse Subs with 90 seconds of placing the order and they claimed to have already made the sandwich! I say BS. You made my sandwich in 1 minute and 30 seconds of receiving the online order at 12:07 pm? I believe they are contractually obliobligated by DoorDash to lie so DoorDash does not have to refund my money. I do not believe my sandwich order even made it to the prep station. Food tastes fine but I wish your online ordering described your subs. All I was craving was a fresh deli sub with crisp lettuce and tomato and thin sliced tuned breast. October 2019 - Ok it's been a year and I've visited a handful more times and every time has been great. There's a new spicy brisket sandwich that's real good too. This is not your average fast food sub. It's way better. Definitely get the extra sauteed mushrooms if you are a mushroom fan. Yum!!! This is a pretty good place for subs and to order for a good cause! They donate to support local fire fighters. You can customize the sub to your liking and make the sub into a combo if you want a soda and chips or cookie! I've tried a most of the sandwiches here and they were all pretty good. I used to like the 'Hook & Ladder' the most but now the one that stands out to me is the Spicy Cajun Chicken. I visited the Tualatin and Gresham locations multiple times. Went to this location, And really enjoyed the Italian Sandwich. However, They only give me two tiny napkins with the meal. So i asked one of the male workers if i could get more napkins, He hands me only one napkin, Kind of glaring at me, And asked me if this was enough napkins. I almost had to laugh!!!! Wow! Fantastic service with a smile and the subs are crazy good! Grabbed me a medium Steamer sub and it was consistently perfect with the other Firehouses I have been to. Meat is super tender, nice and hot. The bread has a fantastic chew and is perfect. I usually don't get too excited on chain places, but Firehouse is the best place to grab that perfect sub that I know of. A true gem in the community of chain restaurants. I'm not personally abhorrent of meat, but a couple vegan/vegetarian staples on their 10 sandwich menu would be business savvy for them, and for us, given that Portlanders notoriously swing both ways...You're able to customize your sandwich into a saladwich if you'd like, though. Lack of delicious veggie special #'s knocked a 1/2 star off... also note: their sandwiches are ALL toasted. If you're a freak who enjoys cold subs with unmelted cheese, you'll have to ask them if they'll accommodate your prissy preferences - I certainly didn't ask them. On to the sandwich... Delicious. Scrumptious flavor (chicken, cherry bomb peppers, lettuce, provolone, tomatoes, pickles) and toasted warm texture - everything tasted fresh, fresh enough to out-freshen Subway. I ordered their Italian sub and it was pretty great. The honey ham is a little too sweet, however. Pepperoncini was not spicy, so load up. Their subs are deliciously messy. My Complaint is about the Customer Service from a manager on June 1st 2018. My husband and I ordered food to be delivered by Grubhub on 06/01/2018 The Grubhub Driver is a regular driver, and we've never have had issues with her. I am an amputee, and my husband is a disabled veteran. Driving is an annoyance, so we often order delivery. The order was: 1 large meatballs sandwich with extra meat. 2 broccoli soups at $3.99 each 3 chilis 1 large steak and cheese sandwich with bacon and mushrooms no grilled peppers 1 small steak and cheese sandwich With 20% delivery tip, came about to be $62 & change. They didnt include the 2 broccoli soups, $3.99 each I made a video and uploaded it to YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Google and my personal blog. I am livid. I am a regular Customer. How dare they keep my money???!!!! I feel robbed! Did I enjoyed the food? No. Why? Because I felt ripped off. It's less than $10 but the lack of customer care makes me think this business is not to be trusted. How many people do they swindle? How many customers out there have been cheated and tricked to believe that they provided the product, but it disapeared before it arrived to the bag. We love the Italian with pickles and peppers. Prices aren't cheap but they pack in the meat and don't allow tips- only donations for firefighters. Only criticism- I do wish the ham was less sweet. Stopped in for a fast meal and I was pleasantly surprised! I was disappointed that they have only hot subs, BUT it was the best hot sub I've ever had! And believe me, I don't like them. The bread was perfectly toasted so it wasn't tough or hard. It was airy and fluffy. Reminded me of a French bread loaf right out of the oven only filled with yummy meats and cheese! Both my BF and I had ordered no mayo. My BF added peperoncini to his sandwich, I did not. BOTH sandwiches came with peperoncini, and while both sandwiches lacked mayo, they ALSO lacked mustard or any other condiment. In addition, my sandwich was supposed to have cheese and mushrooms, but barely had either. The bread was NOT toasted, but barely warmed. My pickle spear was frozen almost solid.
