This LJS is a combo location along with a KFC. I stop here every time i pass through Batavia. The main reason is because this location doesn't fry the fish or hush puppies until you order it. You might have to wait a couple minutes longer, but the LJS items are always hot and fresh when they hand me my bag. I've eaten at locations from across the country. From Texas to New York and i can say with confidence that not all LJS serve their food made to order. For this i will continue to stop in every time i go through Batavia read more

LJS was one of my fav places growing up. Locations are few & far between nowadays, so whenever I get the chance to stop at one I do. My fam and I weren't far from this location, so we decided to stop here this particular Monday afternoon. The lady at the front was super sweet and she told us this location was the last one in New York State. Sadly, I saw why :( Food: 4/10 (only because my niece ordered from the KFC side and her food was fine), customer service 8/10. We ordered 3 different meals with fish, chicken, fries, hushpuppies, & coleslaw. The best thing we ate there was the hushpuppies. The fish came out very dark and greasy. It was inedible, so we took it back to the counter. The lady apologized and said they've been having issues with the fryer. They made us new fish and it was much lighter and fresher. (We dined in, so my question is, how are you even comfortable serving something like this when you see exactly what we see!!). But, the WORST part was the coleslaw. When you use the spoon to pick up a bite, it was "stringy" and "slimy". Never have I ever seen that consistency before. My 7 year old nephew said "yum, that's looks so cheesy". We smelled it, and it had a bit of a sour smell to it. We're almost finished, so we weren't even going to bother taking it back....UNTIL another customer we saw order left and came back inside to tell them her coleslaw was slimy. She was actually demonstrating with a spoon so the worker could see, and the worker was nonchalant and "yeah, that's just how it is, we make it fresh every morning". I was appalled and couldn't sit there quiet any longer. So i went to the counter with my two orders of coleslaw and agreed with the customer that mine was also stringy, had a slight odor and didn't taste good. That's when the worker finally offered us both different sides. I dont want to see the LJS brand go away. And my prior experiences have never been like this. The people are friendly, the restaurant was clean...but the food quality, terrible. Hopefully they make some changes to stay in business. read more

First and foremost, I've always enjoyed LJS back in the day, fish wasn't dark, salty or so crunchy on the ends you can hardly bite into it! Doesn't make for a good eating experience. Their drinks are almost 3.00 although you do get refills. My complaint is that the burnt dry fish no matter when I go. Do better Long John Silvers perhaps some of your loyal and new customers will stay.. read more

This shares a restaurant with a KFC. I wish it was a stand alone long John silvers because I don't believe they offer certain menu items that a stand alone location would offer. Like the fries are KFC fries...the coleslaw is KFC coleslaw as well....it makes me wonder if other things aren't what it should be...like the batter they use for the fish and chicken which is extremely salty. Honestly if it was less salty I would have loved everything I ate. I've wanted to try long John silvers for years...this was my first experience. It has been a long while since I've had LJS. It used to be one of the only fast food joints that I went to as a kid. I used to love their chicken planks with sweet and sour sauce. I didn't realize there were any still around, so when I saw this one, I stopped out of nostalgia. I got some box combination with a drink. A couple of chicken planks, like five shrimp and hush puppies. Their hush puppies are still delicious. The chicken is still crispy with all of those little crunchy fried bits from the batter. Sadly, I did not get any sweet and sour sauce with them. And the shrimp was okay too. read more

Horrible. I was in this location on Saturday and it was horrible. The place was a mess. Filthy dirty. Fountain drink station had water soda and ice everywhere the floors and tables looked like they had never been cleaned that day and the garbage and tray area looked like it had never been touched all day. read more

This review is for the Long John Silver's section of the location. When I was younger there was a LJS in Geneva, NY and we stopped every so often and I would find myself craving those wonderful hushpuppies and fried chicken and fish. Several years ago I was doing a lot of work in Batavia area and would occasionally stop in and it would be a pleasant reminder of the past, but recently the food had just completely dropped in quality. Came recently and got a sampler with chicken and fish. When I arrived there was a sign on the front that they had no hushpuppies - ugh, so sad! I was not greeted when I walked in, several employees walked by the counter and I was totally ignored. Finally someone was nice enough to take my order and I walked up to the counter to pick it up. The fish and chicken both tasted like they had been sitting around and were small, overfried and extra greasy. The fries were old and greasy and they offered a biscuit instead of the hushpuppy. The biscuit was literally smashed and looked like a pancake. Pros - Their Cole slaw and tartar sauce are great, actually my favorite. I actually make the shredded sweet Cole slaw at home myself using a copy cat recipe. I wish management would re-evaluate this location and improve on quality as it definitely used to be better. read more

Ok, let's address the "whale in the galley" which is the three star rating. The reason for this is to me the fact that this location is a split location sharing floor space and kitchen space with KFC. If you happen to be vegetarian, be careful, I've watched baskets of fish ect. get dropped in the fryer right next to chicken and more importantly caught several employees not wearing or changing gloves between product. Other than these issues the food is excellent and so is the service , however it's best to order "fresh fish" at off times so they don't serve you old product that's languished under the warming lamp for a few hours before you ordered. read more

I used to love this place and would drive 40min to get my fix. It's changed and not for the better. And the employees admitted it. They made the fish very skinny compared to what it used to be. The batter has changed too, it's more salty. More batter and less fish is what you get. And the fish is dryer probably because it's harder to cook. The employees told me they get complaints but corporate does not respond. The drink dispenser is still closed. They need to get rid of the flys too. I was doing battle all the while I ate. The fish was dry and I don't see it getting better since the changes. I was a long time customer but I won't go back. Kfc and long john's are exactly what they are. No need to describe the food. But the service, I was debating on giving them only one star. Did drive-thru, they forgot my BBQ sauce, I had to turn around and come back through. They then never once, through the speaker or window apologized... instead it was "okay; here you go." Definitely need to be retrained that if you screw up then apologize, number one customer service rule. Hopefully they learn it. read more

This is the last long John silvers on our area and my mother and I will drive 40 minutes to Batavia to get done fried fish when we are craving it. This is a small restaurant that is also a KFC. Went here yesterday and we got a family pack (there is a coupon currently on their website for 5$ off). We got 8 pieces of fish a giant mount of fries, snd s giant coleslaw. Everyone knows how good KFC/LJS coleslaw is!!! Well the whole meal plus we got two drinks was 24$ I don't think that's bad at all!! That fish with the malt vinegar is heaven! My only complaint is long John silvers used to make their own tartar sauce snd put in packets it was AMAZING!!! The best hands diem....well yesterday they had the malt vinegar but only Heinz tartar sauce and the Heinz brand was not very good at all. I'm so glad this is still here I hope more people craving a good fish fry will hit this place up! The taste for me is also part nostalgic from my childhood. I recommend! And even if you don't like fish it's a full functioning KFC as well! read more

I don't get the hate for this place. I'm so glad that ljs still exists. I drove pretty far with my family on the way to Ohio and stopped at this location and I wasn't disappointed. I got my food lightning quick and it still tasted like I remembered from back in the day. Where else can you stuff your face on fish and hush puppies for this price? Every time I drive to or through Batavia, I always see LJS and want to stop. This is the only LJS left in WNY! And now I know why!!! My brother brought home a fish and chicken platter with extra hush puppies the other night. The food was so oily it was truly inedible. I tried to nibble at the hush puppies after blotting them on paper towels (more like squeezing out the grease!) and they were still completely inedible. The fish and chicken too. The batter just soaked up the fryer grease. I've never seen anything like it. My brother ate more than I did and was sick and nauseated during the night and the next day. Yuckkkkkk! I now know to completely avoid LJS at all costs. No ringing the bell ever again! Hahaha! It's no wonder that this is the only location left in WNY! The food is soooooo gross! What a shame! read more

Very poor management at this store. Door open hours is 10:30am. Had to wait until 11:03 for the cashier to setup her drawer. Drink fountain and condiments were not up and ready until 11:15. The food here was so disappointing. I loved LJS when it was in Rochester way back when. This store is a combo Kentucky Fried Chicken and LJS. I ordered the fish and chicken combo with coleslaw. Clearly the coleslaw was KFCs and as usual very good. The fish was horrible. The batter was thicker than the fish. I think the fish was some low grade frozen stuff. It was dry and tasteless. This is not the long john silver quality of long ago. What happened to this place. I had some Ljs in Pennsylvania a while back and it was fantastic. Needless to say i left most if this food. My wife and I are big fans of LJS and we try to get here to Batavia once a month for dinner. The service here is always friendly. It's typically a little slow to get food, but it's fresh and hot when served. I would recommend this LJS to everyone. read more
