I would still say this is a reasonable place to stop for lunch, but it is not as cheap as it once was... but what is? I would say the value has dropped to though. The biggest disappointment is the beloved "sauce" has changed. The factory that used to make it is out of business, and whatever they are using as a replacement is not the same at all. I would still go there, but it's not the same. Service is okay, but they don't memorize your order anymore and you sometimes run into a shift that is more chatty with themselves than the customers, more often than not they are good. Pro tip, if you go in the winter, you have to order outside, but there is a small indoor seating area. It's nothing fancy, but it gets the job done. The ambiance matches the prices. read more

Truly amazing, this is a throwback to my youth! It's been over a decade since I've been back! I truly miss this place. This place was bustling with customers, and it was good to see them doing well. The banana milkshake I got was made from the fake banana candy flavoring and not from real bananas. The white hots are my favorite, and the fries and onion rings were good too. This place isnt exactly cheap, but definitely a good place to experience classical American summer cuisine. read more

One of the Family's all time favorite spots. Haven't been here in a while but man was it worth every min getting here lol. We usually get hot dogs, hamburgers, fries and onion rings and Reid's sauce for everything to follow. Not sure what the sauce consists of but it's amazing on just about anything. The offer a variety of items today we went for the usual and added the fish sandwich as well that was a good choice. The place was very busy upon arrival, but the service was quick especially for the amount of food we ordered. All in all we had a great time the quality was great as always and the service was swift and fabulous. I would highly recommend you try some Reid's before summer is up. And just a side note... If you are from Lockport or any of the surrounding areas, chances are you know about Reid's. Named after the family that owns it, it is a Lockport institution and has been for many many years. Everyone knows someone who works there or has worked there in the past. It seems like Half of my graduating class worked here at some point in high school. Why I love this place and what you should know: -Though they are a drive in sort of spot, they are open year round. Eat inside, outside at the picnic tables, in your car, on your bike, while walking along the canal, however you want really. -they are cash only but they do have an ATM inside -they have the thickest milkshakes of your life and a regular is only $2.50 -the staff is super friendly and super quick. -they have red hots (for me) and white hots (for the hubby) -their prices are crazy low. Came by today and presented two milkshakes, a red hot, a grilled cheese, a cheeseburger and fries. $12. For real. -their food is always hot, fresh, and fast -want dessert? Their ice cream shop is next door. If you're in Lockport looking for a great lunch or dinner, this is your spot. My only warning- beware of the seagulls! read more

I came here at the suggestion of a friend of a friend. I was going to give this place three stars but I gave it a fourth star because of their speedy service. A friend and I came here today after a hike at Golden Hill State Park in Barker, NY. It's in Lockport on Lake Avenue, just off of Clinton Street. You drive in, park, walk to the front of the business and place your order and then pay. My black raspberry shake and my friend's Mountain Dew were don't first, so I walked it to my car and handed the items to my friend. When I got back, the food items were already done. I had ordered two double cheeseburgers and an order of fries. All of the items came to $13.67. The employees weren't overly kind or outgoing but I was really happy with the expedience of my order. The burger and fries were pretty good. I had my food eaten, by the time I thought to take a picture. While heading towards the exit, I noticed that there is an ice cream shop next door. Cheap prices, and the cheeseburg and white hot would've been fine had I left the red sauce off. I don't like it, though everyone else in the party loved it. To me it tastes like a cross between pureed Major Grey chutney and sloppy Joe sauce, and I hate sloppy joes.i get why people would like reids red sauce, but it's not for me. Our order and the couple after us were both lacking rings, and I didn't want to wait to add them again, so didn't get to try those, but I'll be back in the summer to get the burger without the red sauce and the white hot without the meat sauce. Theres picnic tables outside, as theres no inside dining. Oh,they also dont have mayo, so you have ketchup, mustard, relish, malt vinegar, and pickles out for you to add, and their meat sauce and red sauce for the cooks to add if you order it. You can get raw or grilled onions too, but don't go expecting lettuce, tomato, or anything fancy. It's simple, cheap, and has its niche it's been doing since right after WW2. I have eaten here for 50 years and it has always been the best. The last 2 visits it was horrible. They tried to change (or burned) their sauce and the hamburg tasted spoiled. My guess is they cooked them the night before and then just heated them up to serve ( it was served 2 minutes after I ordered). You can tell they have gone to using cheaper products as the meat has a weird taste. The place is a pig sty. If the staff would stay off their cell phones and listen to what's being ordered maybe they wouldn't get so many orders wrong. If you're not from Lockport, I'm sure this place would remain a solid 3 stars but this staple is important to us Lockportians and being transported back to the good old days is why we go. I love paying $1 and change for a burger that never changes. Be prepared for mediocre food at an amazing price. But the experience of spending $5 on lunch underneath the weeping willows while watching families fend off seagulls makes Reid's a great experience. Pro tip: skewer the pickles with their tooth picks. Order fries just to squish them in the middle of your burger. My major complaint is that they still use styrofoam and I wish they'd switch to something more eco friendly. That's the only reason they're getting 4/5 stars.
