Alex left the business several years ago and the current owner has run it for some time. Today was my first time back in several years. The outside looks dated and needs a refresh. I almost thought it was closed. It was 2:30pm on Saturday before Mother's Day and almost empty. I don't recall it ever not being full of people waiting at the bar for a table. Until today. The decor is ok although I don't care for the fringe lamps directly over your head. I was going to get ribs but decided on 10 oz prime rib ($32.00) comes with 1 side (I chose baked potato - only sour cream and butter is offered). No salad unless you pay extra! The warm bread was fine with two kinds of butter. My companion had the Kids spaghetti $(8.99). My prime rib came out and it looked about half the normal thickness it should be and in a puddle of juice. Even the server commented about why the kitchen did that. And it was warm, at best. No horseradish or other condiments were offered. No garnish on the plate. Just a thin slab of meat. The juice should have been in a separate cup. But the small baked potato was steaming hot! My companion had a giant pile of spaghetti with about a 1/4 cup of sauce on top! Too little for the mound of spaghetti. And it looked like cheap jar sauce and no meatballs. I have eaten here several times in the past and ordered the exact same thing every time. I always order the Philli Cheese Steak Sandwich. This is the first time eating here since the new management took over. It appears that besides turning the hotel into a one star hotel, they have really messed up the food in this restaurants. If you look at my original photo of the sandwich, envision the sandwich with a reduction of the meat of about 40%, hardly any peppers abd onions and the cheese sauce is now like watery cheese soup and there is 50% less than it used to be. With the food and hotel are really bad now and the minimum bets on the penny machines jacked up to 80 cents from 40 cents, this is the last time I will ever go to Batavia Downs for the food, gaming or hotel.
