I did find it strange that on a Friday night at 6 pm the place was completely empty, which would normally be a sign of either high prices or bad food. DiBella's had neither. The menu is very easy to understand and easy to customize. You pick your bread, your meats, your toppings, any sides, and pay. I went for the smallest size sub on wheat with turkey, honey mustard, lettuce and tomato. Classic and simple. Hubby got the bigger Italian sub on white bread. I also got a side of macaroni salad, because I absolutely love East Coast noodle salads. Our food came out fast and our orders were both correct. The small sandwich was perfect for me, but it would definitely be too small for those with larger appetites. My wheat bread was clearly overcooked and a little dry, which was a major disappointment. The turkey was like a processed turkey loaf which also let me down. I also didn't have enough mustard on my sub. Hubby didn't have any comments on the meats on his sub, but he said they weren't the best he'd ever had. He raved about his bread and the oil and other toppings. The macaroni salad was my favorite thing, it was tangy and sweet and delicious. I did think the portion size of the side was far too small. I'll definitely come back to DiBella's, but I'll try the white bread as well as different meat next time (or maybe just veggie and no meat at all). I found the quality of the deli meat lacking, which was a big disappointment. However, there's enough to like about the subs and the prices are more than fair, so they deserve another shot. I opted for the "giant" sub which by Buffalo standards is just a whole sub instead of a half, which is their regular. I like the whole sub so I can have one really big meal or another half for later. I love the quality here for the presentation and the care they put in. I think the Mike's Way option is a really tasty way to make a sub. My hang up with Jersey Mike's is always just the price. I can get a similar sub locally for less but it's not Mike's so I guess that's the tradeoff. Definitely have this location as an option for more visits in the future.

Unlike most I did my homework beforehand. I always order ahead of time, make a simple order, no frills etc. The guy is always friendly on the phone and prompt with service. As a matter of fact the very first time maybe 10 years ago I entered as a walk-in while on a walk around the block he couldn't have been any nicer. Since then I've always called ahead and shown up on time. As for the subs themselves, they're incredible. I can see why the guy doesn't want to turn into a Subway- he puts a lot of time and effort to make sure your order is perfect. You just need to learn to play by his rules which, like it or not, as a private, small business he has the right to run as he so chooses.
