Wow so glad we tried this place. The employees are very nice and patient with us as we perused the menu. Their combos are awesome with many different choices. My hubby bought the cuban sub sans the coleslaw. He made it a combo with mac and cheese. You can also choose salad or soup. As I chose the chips. The brisket and cheddar sub was amazing. For this takeout visit, I placed the order at Firehouse on a Wednesday at ~5:30pm. It was ready in less than 5 min (there were about 6 other people placing orders and picking up at that time). My husband enjoyed the medium sized meatball sub. As far as chain sub shops go, he rated it as way better than Subway, but not as good as Wegmans. I enjoyed my basic roast beef sub on wheat. Check out their app for all the veggies, sauces, and seasonings that you can add for flavor. I also grabbed a chocolate chip cookie. I love this place! Not your average sub shop. So many choices that you don't encounter very often and a better quality. I had a corned beef sub which was delicious. The restaurant is neat and clean and disinfected often but even before the virus it was always very clean. The soft drink machine is in operation and offers more choices than most. You can eat inside and the workers are friendly, polite and efficient. They bring your food out to you and check to make sure you don't need anything else. This place reminds me of Quiznos when it was around the WNY area! Sub varieties are fresh and they are very accommodating with modifying your order (like substituting different cheeses and holding onions and/or tomatoes, etc.) Seemed like they were having trouble with their fountain beverage machine so only limited varieties were available (I do recommend their cherry limeade brand). I really enjoyed the Cajun chicken sub with cherry peppers, pepper jack cheese, and Cajun mayo. The ham, turkey, roast beef assorted sub was even good the next day for lunch (with some help from the toaster oven at work) . Firehouse is my place to stop for a quick sandwich when in the McKinley Mall area. I have had tried a few varieties, and they were tasty enough for repeat visits. But, after tasting the Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar, I have not been able to order anything else! I do have to say, with flavor and tenderness, this brisket sandwich rivals a sandwich in any BBQ restaurant. Definitely my favorite!!!!! (They should add a coleslaw topping, like BBQ joints do!) Another perk, being a hot sauce fan, there is a counter full of hot sauces, with little cups for sampling. Each bottle is labeled in intensity from 1 thru 10, so there are no surprises. I always try a few, and dump a bit onto each bite. I also enjoy that their beverage machine is one of those fancy "add your flavor" types. I always enjoyed Lime Diet Coke, and it is no longer available, so being able to add my lime is a plus. (They also have fresh lemon and lime wedges on the beverage counter.) I can't give 5 stars, because as subs go, for a traditional Buffalo Sub in a neighborhood sub shop, this isn't the same. I do have my favorite spots for that. I have been wanting to come here for so long, but trying to sell my wife on subs can be hard. We had a coupon in our night out book, buy a combo and get a free medium sized sub, so We finally stopped in for lunch last week and I'm so happy we did. I got the Club on a Sub- turkey, ham, bacon served "fully involved"- which is their way of saying it comes standard with mayo, deli mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion, and a kosher dill pickle on the side. You can opt to leave off anything, which i did (I'm not a big tomato person). I got chips and a drink as well. The sub took a few minutes, and was brought out to me as i sat in the dining room. It was very good. The bread tasted so fresh! It was toasted without being crunchy. The cheese melted so perfectly and the flavors really went awesomely together. My wife loves the decor in here, especially the Dalmatian themed tables. She also loves the fireman gear on the walls. Even she was impressed with her sub, which says a lot! Very good subs. Much larger than a regular sub at a pizzaria. I had the steak and cheese, the quality of steak was excellent. As strip mall sub shops go, this one is superior. The fire house theme is cute. There is a small area with tables outside (if you don't mind looking at a parking lot). And the sub I got was memorably good. Like, I am itching to go back again and I was just there today. They had fresh brewed iced tea in both sugar sweetened and unsweetened. The sugar sweetened was a bit too sweet for me, so next time I will leave room to mix in a little unsweetened. Best of all, they had both lemon AND lime wedges for your tea. It was really nice to go with lime for a change. I am very particular about my tea. (There's was also really nice and dark...and, being fairly early in the day, it was still quite warm, so a lot of ice was needed...and still it was nice and dark.) They also had a choice of white or wheat rolls. I chose the wheat and did not feel like I was sacrificing to be healthier. You order your sub at the counter and fill your own drinks at a very high-tech drink station. Happened to be in the area and was craving a sub. I'm not a big Subway guy so this seemed like a better alternative. Browsed their website for a menu and told the girl taking my order I want "Mommas Chicken Salad". That gave her a laugh because apparently they've never carried chicken salad let alone my mother's. Upon further review later in the day, the online menu says only certain locations carry it. At that point I panicked and saw a sign that read "Best Meatball Sub, Guaranteed". I got an 8" + a combo. $9 and some change. The girl brought my sub to my table once it was ready. I have to say, they lived to the guarantee because it was certainly one of, if not, the best meatball bomber I ever had. Italian restaurant quality meatballs covered in a perfect amount of sauce on a crunchy white roll, smothered in gooey cheese. I regret not getting a 12 inch. My only complaints were the pickle tasted funny and their Firehouse brand Cherry Lime-Aid was no bueno. I don't know if the pop machine wasn't working properly but it literally didn't taste like anything to me. The problems began with their menu. Descriptions are hard to find and the names they use don't help much. In fact they sound stupid. Posted menu doesn't help much either. It took much more time than I am used to for the subs to be ready. When we finally got them the size was shocking. Never before have I seen such a small sub. The meat and veggies were adequate but because of the size of the sub there were nowhere near enough. After finishing the sandwiches we felt as if we had not eaten. Ohhhhhhh man. I describe burgers to people in two ways: sometimes you want a nice burger with a great bun, and great toppings; a symphony of flavors and textures. Other times, you want s five guys style burger: soft and juicy and greasy, nearly falling apart, but pure bliss with each bite. Firehouse subs makes that messy, falling apart burger of the sub world. Every sub has the meat and cheese steamed together and piled into the bread. This makes it super soft and melty, and overall really delicious. I order the beef and cheddar BBQ sub. My family ordered subs which my sister picked up. When the to-go boxes were opened, we were expecting the great food that we know that Firehouse has. Instead we received mangled bread rolls and only 3/4 of the amount of meat we would usually receive. There was about 2 to 3 inches of roll only on each of these subs like someone hadn't been paying attention while preparing these. After calling to tell the manager about what we had received, I was told that I must be mistaken. After I defended myself against the manager's arrogant slight then came an awkward silence as I was hoping for him to make good on the flawed order but instead the manager replied with "is that all?" Turkey bacon ranch is the best! Hot sub with just the right amount of crunch. They have a Coca-cola freestyle machine but a welcome addition is their own branded Cherry Limeaid, that they somehow convinced them to put in the machine. I've been visiting this location off and on ever since they opened. Their subs are great with a much richer flavor than a typical Subway sandwich. They also have a Coke Freestyle machine so you can add a little variety to your drink. It's out of my way but I try to make a trip on my lunch break once a week. The staff is friendly and the supervisor quickly knew me by name. I've only had one mess up here, which is fine since everybody makes mistakes, but they went out of their way to make everything right as quickly as possible. Their app keeps track of rewards progress and while I don't need the extra incentive to get me in again, it certainly doesn't hurt, either! read more

I've been here many times, and love the subs and the atmosphere. It's decorated like a firehouse, which I think is pretty unique. The menu has a lot to offer, if you're into trying new subs, or if you have kids who are picky eaters like my younger brother, they have kids meals like mini subs or grilled cheese. My favorite sub to get there (that is under 500 calories!) is the turkey and cranberry. It's really good, but also pretty messy.
