I come here specifically for the taco in a bag. The food is always good. The only issue is the staff. It's very half and half with them. You either get a team of employees that are very friendly and know what they're doing. You may also get a team who are not too rude but rude nonetheless. We order often from here, never have an issue. we ordered today, 2 subs order of fries $43. Fine, my husband goes to work, his sub is wrong, didn't make a big deal about it, picked off what he didn't want, second sub I finally for to open when my kids went to bed a few hours later. 100% wrong, the receipt was 100% correct when I picked up our order. called to let them know and was told oh well....if they keep making it wrong there are 6 different locations. this is completely unacceptable. My go to Jim's, mostly because it's in area I work. Everything I had here has been very good, just go in knowing this isn't gourmet food. My go to picks are the diavlo hoagie, the cheeseburger hoagie and the chicken finger salad. If you like ham subs this is one of the best I had anywhere actually. While Jim's may be the best late night meal in all of Buffalo, I was super impressed with my sub from here for lunch even while not inebriated. I got the Hoagie Deluxe with steak and WOW was it good. I might leave off the lettuce and tomato next time (it got kind of soggy with all the sauces), but this is definitely one if the better steak subs I have had in recent memory. Great size and tons of steak and cheese flavor. Next time I'm in Buffalo, Jim's will surely be on my list of places to return. read more

Absolutely not the right Jim's to go to. I've been in there a couple of times and they were extremely rude to me and the food wasn't a patch on the other Jim's locations I've been to (Sheridan/Sweet Home, Allen St, Chippewa). I saw some old friends there and they were saying the same thing. Just a mile down the road is the best Jim's location (Sheridan and Sweet Home), with some really nice kids working in there and a higher standard of food - so take your business down the road, people! Review of their food in general: Their Steak Tacos are good (ask for them medium or hot), very Buffalonian - not at all Mexican - but still very good. Their subs are their specialty, not least because they are so greasy and delicious... get one that has everything (Steak, Peppers, Cheese, Onions, Mushrooms) for the full Jim's effect. One of the heaviest sandwiches you will ever eat but also one of the most delicious, and extremely original. The closest to a real Philly Cheesesteak you will ever get outside PA but with a Buffalo slant to it. Their wings are good, but there are better places to get wings. If you're going to get a drink, remember you're in Buffalo, so you have to get Loganberry! read more

I usually use a drive up window at another location but decided to venture to a different location since it was closer. This Jim's was very nice inside and even outside. There appeared to be a small outside area for those summer days and many tables inside. It's a very clean sub shop and you are able to watch your order being made which I think is fun. The staff is very friendly and I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door. I places my order and was out of there in approximately 10 min. Very fast considering I ordered poutine fries which had to be cooked first. The poutine fries had a good amount of cheese And gravy. His statement was " oh yeah we gave him the wrong order . Your order still here if you want it" ok can you get it to me . No we don't deliver . Been to this outlet 2x's & been disappointed both times. I get it can get busy but the last time I was there I ordered a steak sub & a chicken finger sub w/ a lg fries. I picked up & got home to 2 steak subs & half a bag of fries. I called back to tell them & they told me to hang on & then hung up. I use to work in food service so I try to understand when this happens but this was a joke. After I tried to write to them on twitter & took a picture of the order and never heard back. I have noticed every late Saturday night when I order there is an older gentleman that works there that usually takes my order and helps me out. Five stars because they have street tacos and great "poutine" and I stop here every time I'm in buffalo. The street tacos are my fave. Served in a bag of crunched up doritos, they top it with ground beef, lettuce and tomato. I seriously. The poutine is a mix of delicious beefy gravy and colby cheese. Stopped in late to get takeout. I ordered a 5 piece boneless chicken wings and my boyfriend got a stinger sub, he loves those. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. The restaurant seemed clean but we didn't eat in so I didn't get a good look at any of the tables. For being 10:30 at night, they had a lot of people working, about 5. I've been here before during the day and that staff seems more friendly than the night staff tonight, however I don't know how happy I'd be working at night either. I absolutely LOVE this place!! I miss it sooo much and I wish more than anything that they had one out here in CA. Evertime I go home I eat this at least once, usually twice, and I've been known to bring one back to CA. Even after a 6 hr flight, still delicious. I always get the Jim's Bleu medium. Huge chicken fingers that are hot, spicy, crispy and doused in their delicious hot sauce. The lettuce, tomatoes, and onions, are all crisp and fresh. The blue cheese adds a delicious tanginess that goes hand in hand w/buffalo chicken fingers and wings. Chicken finger subs are something they don't have in CA, for some reason no one's got the brilliant idea yet, and if they did, I'm sure it could never be this good. Just like chicken wings they just can't seem to get it right. Also amazing is their Jim's Famous Steak Hoagie. The steak is chopped up in small pieces and super tender so it's easy to eat. There's fried onions on top, melted cheese, lettuce, tomato and the most amazing secret sauce ever. I would take this over an authentic Philly Cheesesteak any day. This is a Buffalo favorite and if you're ever in the area do not leave w/out trying one of their famous hoagies, you will NOT be disappointed, I promise :-) read more

Although I am already a huge fan of Jim's, and have been for literally years, before my mother and I went out this evening I was reading the reviews for this specific location out of sheer curiosity. Simply because this location is the closest to us, I think my favourite location is the original down on Elmwood Ave. Fox E.'s review stood out in particular seeing as I had a similar unfortunate experience with the staff being rude. More importantly, let me address the food first. My mom and I have been fans of this place for so long! I absolutely love their chicken fingers and chicken finger subs, they're awesome every time. Also, I recently branched out and tried their Taco In a Bag, which is all your taco essentials mixed up and served in a Doritos Nacho Cheese bag (chips very obviously included). My mother is a little bit more adventurous when it comes to the menu, though her standby is the Jim's Famous Steak Hoagie (steak, fried onions, melted cheese, lettuce, tomato & Jim's "secret sauce") - she's tried the Diavlo & their turkey hoagie, which are all according to her pretty damn good. Tonight I ordered my usual - chicken finger sub, hot with blue cheese and an order of their "award winning" (what award do you think they've won?) French fries. We were the only customers in there at 12AM which was strange, yet they had three unattractive, unfriendly and very obviously bored out of their skulls college girls working behind the counter. Automatically got a very clique-y, uncomfortable vibe...which isn't common in the other locations I've been to. Can't say I was a fan. After I received my food, I sat down and took a picture of my order to throw on Yelp! (Like many others.) Two of the employees blatantly found this amusing and very strange as I overheard them talking about how weird taking pictures of your food is. And then the two of them proceeded to stare like dazed holsteins at yours truly as I tried to eat my food. In short, food is five stars for quick artery clogging deliciousness. I think the people who work at Jim's Steakout should be nominated for sainthood. I don't know how they deal with all of the drunk people who wander in there at odd hours of the morning. They also take telephone orders ahead of time, which is convenient when you're cabbing home and want to run in and grab your food. One time they forgot to include my mac n cheese bites. It was tragic and I'd rather not talk about it. Other than that, they always seem to get my order right and the food is consistently wonderful. Just drove 15 hours from Atlanta and got to Buffalo at 1am. Of course the first place we went before saying hi to family or friends was to Jim's to get a Chicken Finger Sub. No where else in the country has CFSs and Jim's is one of our must visit stops anytime we're back in town. People of Buffalo, don't take the CFS for granted. Eat them everyday.
