Very happy that I gave Acapulco a second chance! I came here 2 years ago and had a disappointing experience and haven't been back until today, and let me say, all the problems of my past visit are gone! I ordered the chimichangas and they were incredible! True authentic flavor and the texture was spot on (not common in most places in my experience). They have fantastic specials throughout the week that are definitely worth looking into. I was surprised by $1.99 draft beers on Monday's. Who can be mad about that?! My service was great. You can tell the staff has a great relationship with their usuals here. That's something I always love to see! The ambiance is the only reason I have to drop to 4 stars. The building is outdated and is in need of a renovation. They do a great job working with what they have, but the seemingly lingering issues need attention. I hope that business is good besides it being slow during the day. They still have the cheap margaritas and I got a frozen lime margarita for $2.99 on Tuesdays and a lunch special shredded beef chimichanga. Very off the beaten path location in Tonawanda, if you're not careful, you'd drive right past it! Went on a Friday night and they weren't too busy. The ambiance is a little strange- sports bar meets Mexican restaurant, and the table was very sticky and a little dirty. Our server was very friendly and the food came out quickly. The food was delicious! A friend asked to meet here and while definitely enjoyable, I don't know if I'd make the drive to Tonawanda just for this place. A friend recommended that his place, and he's a foodie like me. First off, the service is excellent. Everyone is friendly and fast. The food is wonderful. It's usually nothing great to look at, but the taste is always spot-on. We've been here twice. I tried an assortment of tacos the first time- tongue, Barbacoa, and Al Pastor. All were good, but the Al Pastor stood out as melt-in-your-mouth greatness. They also have a toppings bar for your tacos, which was nice. The second time, I tried the chicken fajitas. They were absolutely delicious, and the white meat chicken was NOT overcooked, which is difficult to accomplish on a hot cast iron pan and mixed with other hot foods. My husband got the jumbo burrito both times, and they are not lying. It comes out on a PLATTER with rice, beans, etc. he said it was excellent. Ordered take out, great Tex Mex. My favs are the bean enchiladas and the California burrito but the refried beans OMG, creamy and flavorful.

First time trying this spot. Usually don't travel north of Genessee St for Mexican, but we searched out someplace new. And we won't be back. The waiter was nice. Building is a little older, dark, not dirty just not crisp and clean. Paintings on the wall were a tad creepy I must say. Food came out quick. Salsa was runny, hardly anything to scoop. The food looked amazing. My burrito was loaded with rice, and my wife's chimichanga didn't stand up to any place we normally frequent. Portion size was good and the appearance was great. Recommended by a friend. First I ordered a pinot grigio - waiter was not sure if they had that. That's fine. He was going to check. Instead he came back with either a rose or white zinfadel. I took it but would have preferred something else. Or a choice. Second, Chimi came stuffed with a good portion of meat, but also with onions and peppers. I would have ordered something else if it was noted on the menu - as it is for the ​Chimichanga Acapulco. Quiet night in the restaurant, but the service was slow. Food was just ok. My wife and I had a quite disappointing dining experience this evening, New Year's eve, at Acapulco Mexican restaurant in Tonawanda. First, our waiter -- he never offered his name -- had an attitude of "I really don't want to be here" telegraphed all over his face. His expression exuded a kind of anger or indifference. Not a people person in the least; it was unwelcoming and awkward. Part of my order were rice & beans. I love the smooth texture of restaurant-style refried beans -- but these were 99% whole beans, as if someone opened up a can of chili beans and plopped them on the plate. My wife ordered what she'd heard online was a terrific "Mexican sandwich" of some sort. It was on a roll like a sub roll, had some avocados in there and Lord knows what else. It came with, of all things, French fries. It was mediocre at best, albeit we realize this comes down to individual taste. But the hype it got online was utterly unwarranted. The downer waiter never came around to ask how things were, until we were in the process of paying the bill. I noted at the top of this review that we had a disappointing dining *experience*. That's what people really seek and hopefully enjoy when they go out to eat: a special experience. One spanning good service, friendly service, good food and, ideally, good value. This was not one of those experiences. I placed a Grub Hub order totaling over 60 dollars. The order consisted with the shrimp enchiladas, a fajita dinner, 2 orders of chips and salsa and a chili rellano. When the food arrived, I was very disappointed. The peppers were not made using a banana pepper. Instead, the pepper used was a green pepper. Instead of being filled with cheese, it was filled with ground beef and topped with cheese (like a stuffed pepper), When I opened the fajita container, some of the sliced peppers were left whole. The onions and peppers were not fully cooked. I was missing the tortillas and the 2 bags of chips and salsa. I called the restaurant immediately to let them know that I was missing items. I don't know what took me so long to give this place a try! They are currently offering indoor and outdoor dining! I ordered the Camaron al mojo ajo and my fiancé ordered the Carnita fiesta. My plate came with a generous portion of large shrimps cooked with onions and garlic, Mexican rice, tortillas and a salad. I'm glad I was able to find something without cheese because I'm not a fan of cheese. The shrimps were flavored to perfection- what's there not to like about garlic and onion? The tortillas were soft and warm! You also get a free side of chips and salsa to start. Overall, I would come back. There were 2 issues however: the avocado on one of our plates was brown. It looked really gross and I don't know how they were able to serve it. I wish we said something. Another problem was their service. Our waiter came around once to get us water and serve us our food. He never came around afterwards. We had to grab another waiter for the bill and a box. She never came back with the bill so we assumed we had to pay at the counter. I went up to the counter but our waiter was also preparing drinks during that time and didn't help us until 10 minutes later. I'm not sure if they were just short that day or trying to get back into the groove with indoor dining but I hope that was just one time! Consistently good Mexican food; have been in many times and everything has always been enjoyable. I've never been blown away with the food and would claim it to be be the best, but you can rely on the food coming out hot and fresh, as well as being correctly made to your order while still being good. Drinks are not the strongest, but again they are consistently medium strength and taste good. Some places I can order a pitcher of the margaritas and find myself longing for more while here I am happy with one or two standard glasses and don't seek out any additional. Don't read any of that as you shouldn't try this out, because you absolutely should. This is a solid spot in our dining out rotation, but in the same breath if you were showing a guest from out of town around Buffalo this would not be my ultimate choice to showcase Mexican in our city. I feel like Covid has changed allot of things, one of them is just humans in general and their personalities. It was such a nice breath of fresh air when I called to place a takeout order and from the phone, to pick up and even when I called for a few items that were missing - Tiffany was extraordinary! She was so helpful and incredibly friend, she was patient and made you feel she was in absolutely no rush. The food was phenomenal! Even their sauce bar had me dipping my chips nonstop. The chimichanga and mole were just sooooo good. And the price value? I can't believe how inexpensive their menu items were because I feel like every restaurant has shot up to an astronomical cost. We stopped by for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. I ordered the Pollo poblano which is a grilled chicken breast cooked with poblano peppers and topped with homemade poblano sauce. It is served with Mexican rice, beans, and flour tortillas. This was exceptionally good and I brought some home to finish later. My wife enjoyed the burrito El Paso with steak. This is the first time I tried this place. My friends and my bf had been here a couple of a times and the owner realizes his customers. The staff are super friendly and there is a lot on the menu. Super friendly place to hang out with friends and have a drink. It is a tug away charm! I ordered the tacos and it only comes with the protein on the taco because they have a taco station for you to pick your own toppings which is nice because you don't have to tell the staff what you don't want on it. I have to say, I really likes the el pastor taco. The flavor is on point and super juicy. I also ordered a steak quesadilla and it was great. The other dishes had a lot of food on the plate. The food my lunch partner and I received was somewhere between lukewarm and frigging cold. It was cold to the point the cheese on top on the beans was sitting in little chunks. There was no evidence that melting had even started. The homemade corn tortillas had a weird texture and were dripping in grease. The carne asada I got was a hunk of poor quality steak . Huge fan of this place. New Mexican joint - first one as far as I know in the town of Tonawanda. This place has it all: a beautiful bar, good prices and LEGIT food. Honestly, most of the time I'd just stick with the tacos but I was intrigued by the Pollo Osin, grilled chicken breast with mushrooms onions and topped with a cheese sauce over rice and beans. This meal was delicious. The onions were some of the best part as they were so sweet and grilled perfectly. The mushrooms were amiss and the waitress told me they were out. Only hiccup to the meal -- wish I was told before I ordered it that they were out of mushrooms. Still got 5 stars though because the dish was delicious sans mushrooms. Space your chair six feet away from your dinner date folks, this meal is worth taking the mask off for. Which is fine anyway, because you know what they say about beans, those magical fruit... It's Easter eve, and I have no energy left to dye any eggs, but my seasonal taste buds are begging for them. We've passed this restaurant many times (every time me pointing out the shrimp with the hat, as I struggle to decide if he is giving me the thumbs up or if it is just how he holds his beer) and finally decided to order takeout. The place was pretty busy and we were given a wait time of 35 minutes, which while longer than your average wait time in a Taco Bell or Mighty Taco drive thru, it's so worth it. I went for eggs rancheros, which came with rice and beans, because breakfast is served all day. They supplied me with one napkin, which I tucked into my collar, as that tomatoey sauce will blemish my sweatshirt in an instant. They provided me with a salt and pepper packet as well, though the rice was well seasoned without it. The beans are silky, unlike the condensed canned nonsense you get in the store. Now, I don't speak a lick of Spanish past what Dora the Explorer has taught me, and half the time I'm more preoccupied figuring out how she fits that trapezoid of a head into her shirt collar, so I had to look up "rancheros" only to find it indeed meant "ranch" and not "runny ooey gooey yumminess." My bad. The eggs had a nice chew to their bottom, and did not disappoint as the star of the dish. My mate ordered the fajita texans, an ensemble of steak, chicken and shrimp. It came with bell peppers and onions, rice, guac, and a surplus of six tortillas. They smelled divine, pressed in house. However, they were stingy with the sour cream, barely enough to cover a single fajita. The meats were delicious, and other adjectives that he was too busy chewing to swallow and tell me. We were surprised with homemade tortilla chips and a loose salsa (no chunky dunking here). They aren't salty, which is more authentic than other places we've frequented in the past. Craving street tacos and this place was right down the street! As soon as you walk in you are greeted by a server and a basket of chips and salsa. Make sure you savor that free basket of chips and salsa because everything is going to cost extra after that. I came for street tacos and the menu was very diverse and had the selection I was looking for. I had the veggie taco and the el pastor. The tacos are a decent size and filled. Make sure you order the sour cream and cheese with your tacos, it cost extra ( like everything else) but it completes the taco . The tacos were delicious, they were very filling as well. I enjoyed the Smokey sweet flavor of the el pastor taco and the corn tortillas had a natural sweetness to them that really brought out the flavor of the taco filling. I was intrigued by the entrees, but they were a little pricey in my opinion. My only complaint was the service. Our server was very forgetful and came back to our table at least twice, asking as what we ordered. When she did bring the food she forgot the toppings. She also forgot our appetizer.
