Coconut margarita
Jessica C.

This was my very first time here, I loved the vibrant colors and art, even the booths were beautiful. This place was soo good, my new favorite Mexican spot. Even our server was kind and attentive. The steak fajitas were so good, steak was flavored well, and melt in your mouth. Amazing. The veggies were delicious. My husband got a burrito with carnitas, the carnitas were seasoned very well, and meat was tender. The coconut margarita tasted tropical, I could have swore I was on the beach with every sip. This place was top notch!

Molcajete
Aaron H.

I thought I left a review here before. This is our favorite restaurant. The molcajete is amazing. It is enough to feed the whole family though it is meant for two people. It gets crazy busy on Friday and Saturday but the rest of the week you get in pretty quickly. The staff is friendly and do a great job.

Speedy Gonzalez lunch

Forever my original favorite when I come back home to visit. The pico de gallo is addictive, as is the queso, and the Burritos Deluxe is my go-to. You cannot beat the lunch specials and the fresh food, friendly staff, and decorative ambiance.

Chips, salsa, queso, double rice, original chicken tacos, and a steak burrito
Jamie B.

I love love love it here. This place is always busy, but somehow has room for my party. The place is full, but never too loud to hear the conversation at the table. The chips and salsa are FREE!! So of course we splurge and get queso for the table. It's nothing spectacular, but it gets the job done! My glass stays full and my food comes fast. I am a creature of habit and get the same thing every time, but it never disappoints. I get the original tacos, soft shell, with chicken, and double rice.

Hawaiian Fajitas (modified)
Sarah J.

I've been coming to this place for a few years now and I always end up ordering the Hawaiian fajitas - they stuff a half pineapple with your choice of shrimp, chicken, or both! I remember they used to have a steak option too, but I bet you could still ask for it. The portion size is huge and they really fill up that pineapple. Because of some food sensitivities, my plate looks a little different with just mushroom and zucchini and pineapple, but it usually comes with bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, zucchini, and pineapple. My boyfriend decided to try the Texas fajitas this time and he loved them - the portion was big and he said they were delicious, but he still prefers the Hawaiian one. Our food came out hot and tasty, and we were very satisfied. We went on a Tuesday evening around 5:30, so it wasn't too crowded. Another group came in a bit later and they seemed like regulars - they were friends with our server and having a blast. It was definitely a fun taco Tuesday vibe! The decor and atmosphere here give off a super fun Mexican party feel. Our server was fine, did what he needed to do. I'll definitely be returning here in the future for more good food and vibes. Can't wait!

I really liked the Mexican theme in here! Lots of neat details to look at! Service was great. Food was pretty good too. I had the carnitas with rice. I enjoyed everything. My friend enjoyed his grande burrito. I would eat here again.

Nice colorful decor. Large menu of choices. Service was good and quick. Large portions. Complimentary chips and tasty salsa.

It's decent, but not a place I personally would pick to go for Mexican food. We had a family gathering and La Tolteca was picked by my younger brother. Free chips & salsa come out to your table complimentary, which is nice &from my experience pretty standard at dine in Mexican restaurants. But, the salsa was pretty bland. My older brother ordered queso because he doesn't like salsa, and it was super thin and just dripped off the chips. I ordered a shrimp & vegetable dish with a tomato based sauce. The tomato sauce tasted like canned tomato soup which was not pleasing to the palate. At least the shrimp and vegetables were well cooked. My one brother did not care for his food and the other family members (2 kids & 3 adults) said their food was good, but nothing to write home about.

I went to la Tolteca for dinner last week with some girlfriends and had such a fun evening! We walked in to this cute authentic Mexican place in Buffalo and were greeted immediately by the friendly staff! We were seated immediately and just in time to order some margaritas for happy hour! We started off with some chips, salsa and queso which was delicious!!! Always a must for me when I go for Mexican! After reviewing the large menu, I decided on the enchiladas with chicken! They came also with rice and beans which was the perfect paring to my enchiladas! They were delicious! The portions were so large too that I had leftovers for lunch the next day! My mom ordered the Hawaiian fajitas which actually came in a whole pineapple! It was such a fun way to present a dinner and it looked so fancy! I loved the atmosphere and have an amazing girls night chatting and eating delicious Mexican food! I will definitely be returning to this place again!

I don't remember specifically what the meal is called that I ordered, but it was on the lunch menu. The enchilada and rice and beans were yummy. The taco was good, but needed a sauce. The chips and salsa were good. The chips were perfectly crispy and not too oily. The salsa was fresh. Ordered guac and queso also, both were yummy. The service was quick and good.

a table full of mexican food

There were 6 of us and a baby, I'm starting backwards the service was great , friendly on top of it and quick. Now the food , 3 liked it 3 didn't . I liked mine , i got the chimichangas, 1 shredded beef 1 chicken they werehot and flavorful. The refried beans were good. The 3 that disliked theirs said the chicken was bland, no spice or flavor as was the rice, they didn't eat the rice and flooded the chicken with salsa! Not going to return.

Seafood soup! Loads of shrimps, fish and scallops! Rich and tasty broth! So piping hot, I had to be patient until it cooled off!

The menu is extensive and the wait staff was simply ideal. We enjoyed ourselves having a good meal. Whether I was relaxed, I'm not sure :). The early afternoon music selection was great, fun and energetic. Perhaps I ate my food too quickly, but I couldn't help myself. The La Bandera was three enchiladas, one cheese, one ground beef and one shredded chicken, topped with three different sauces. It was good. Maybe if there was more green sauce, it would be even better. The small side of salad with a good amount of avocado was refreshing. From the beginning to the end of our stay, I felt welcomed and invited. I almost took a photo of myself wearing one of the beautiful sombreros placed around the dining room. They looked like new, super colorful and sparkly.

Our waiter got us set up in a reasonable amount of time at a table that was a "little tacky" and by tacky I mean sticky (I did see someone wiping tables post meals). We ordered a couple margaritas because why not enjoy a frosty marg with tacos and the frozen lime one .... Definitely delivered on the booze. The chips and salsa were a big hit with the little yelper, and the salsa was a little runny for my Liking but it was definitely good. We started off with some nachos and this kinda set the tone for the rest of the meal. The queso on this dish was literally like a runny wet texture, most queso tends to be a lot thicker than this and the chicken was a touch bland, those chips had no chance with this queso, they all got a bit soggy in no time. We also had a heavy quantity of tacos ordered. 3 beef and 6 chicken. The beef tacos were pretty bland, as were the chicken tacos (dripping with water). But for $1 tacos I guess it wasn't too bad. I'm just guessing that the chicken is boiled because the amount of moisture was pretty decent. The beans carried the runny theme as well, with the rice being the most non soggy item we came across. Overall though it's $1 tacos, so we can't set the bar too high with them.

If you like loud, obnoxious, party-bar atmosphere- then this is the place for you. If you don't,…read moreyou will probably NOT have a good time. I came here with some family who were visiting from out of town. We wanted somewhere that everyone could eat at since we have omnis, GFs, and vegans. Love that there were options for everyone. However, my partner and I ordered the guacamole azteca which came out with cheese clearly on it and mixed in. I asked the server immediately if it was cheese and he said no, they would never put cheese in it. I had my doubts but thought perhaps it could be finely minced garlic. So we started eating. About halfway through we hit a pocket of unmixed cheese and I stopped eating. Asked the server a second time who denied it was cheese. He claims he also asked in the kitchen and they assured him it wasn't cheese. Well, it was- I got sick that night. My vegan dinner was small- no rice or beans. Just two sad little enchiladas with very little filling. There was a pile of iceburg lettuce next to them with a small scoop of pico. But all in all, the meal is NOT worth the price. The vegan options were the same price or more than the meat options, but came out with half the food on the plate. I felt this meal deserved only 1 star, but the fact that there were vegan options on the menu bumped it up to 2 stars. I will not be going back, I would much rather eat elsewhere in a more quiet atmosphere where the servers and kitchen staff KNOW what they put dairy in.

My husband and I love sitting at the bar and watching the show of endless birthday singing, and patron sparklers with music. There is always music. You can't be in Margaritas and not smile at least once. The spirit in there is infectious. On this particular date, we got to catch some of the Sabres game, which was a treat and celebrate St. Patrick's weekend drinking margaritas. I got a flight, as always. I'm usually not a frozen marg girl, but when at Margaritas...plus on one flavor you always get a mini rubber duck and they are adorable and you can take it home with you. I like adding it to my collection in my Jeep. The standout marg was the watermelon. It wasn't too sweet. Prickly pear and dragon fruit were a little too sweet for me. Because I was hungry, but not hungry enough, I went with two side orders. I got a tostada and a taco. They were fine. My husband got a burrito and finished his meal. If you like a little excitement and party in your life, I highly recommend this place. Employees are friendly.

Initial Impressions were a good atmosphere and very clean dining area. We ordered the kids cheese pizza , some steak& chicken fajitas and birra quesadillas ( opted for the extra beans and rice). While my wife's beans and rice were hot, the ones I was served were barely room temperature. The steak was over cooked and tough. But overall it wasn't bad, we've had bette (and worse). The kids pizza, well there's a reason why you don't order pizza in a Mexican restaurant... barely cheesed and over sauce (advise passing on that menu option) The birra quesadillas were pretty decent, good flavor, the bottoms were a little soggy but with birra you expect it . Overall, it was a good amp of food for the money but I don't think a return visit is going to be planned.
