This place is great. Went on a Sunday morning. I didn't have a wait, the server was friendly, and the food came out fast and hot. Had the mushroom Swiss omelette with hash browns. I love that they have the scattered hash browns and not the patties. The costs was affordable and I took home leftovers. Will be back! read more

It was a seat yourself diner, with no signs. The server came over quickly and greeted us. Breakfast stops at 11:30, didn't see that anywhere until we got there. Cute old diner with lots of regulars. Food was mediocre at best. Got a side salad and the lettuce was wilted/brown. Food had barely any seasoning and chicken was dry. I'd suggest a sandwich and nothing more. This is a gem in Holley which is a 5 min drive from Brockport. The menu is huge! My husband's fried chicken was great & the coleslaw was the best either of us had ever had! I'd love to get the recipe! I had a stuffed ground beef burger which was nothing special. I should have tried something else! The chili was good & the crisp bread they served with it was great. It would have been good instead of the sub roll I had. Our waitress was so nice, informative, & not a hoverer!! read more

We had a terrific breakfast at Sam's and the coffee just kept coming. The everything omlete was huge. I could only eat half if it. My husband had two eggs, pancakes, and bacon. Very nice diner. We were in Brockport looking for somewhere to eat and this was only about 5 minutes away. They had a large selection and the diner was clean and neat. Wow! We need more of these type of diners in Buffalo.... fair prices, excellent food, huge menu, and, of course, nostalgia! I worked up an appetite hiking around Holley falls, so we were definitely in the mood to eat once we got seated, I ordered a chicken deluxe sandwich (with ham and swiss) and opted for macaroni salad as a side ..... my father got a cheeseburger club (a new twist on a club that needs to be added to every menu) with chips . The bill with 2 beverages only ended up being a little over $20 ! Service was friendly and quick, just what you would hope for! And the food hit the spot! Friday fish fry hot spot. Cute hometown diner with fresh homemade food and friendly service. Portion sides are big so be prepared for a "doggie" bag. Little disappointed in the rice as a side. It came out and was cold so I sent it back as the server put in microwave. I used to be a regular here for years. It hurts to write this, but the quality and service have seriously tanked lately. My wife and I went there for breakfast a couple times. We waited a half hour for what was essentially eggs, potatoes, and toast. Meanwhile, 2 other tables who were seated after us were served before us. The hash browns were clearly frost bitten, and tasted like nothing. The eggs were overcooked. It looks like Sam's has become a glorified cafeteria, where they just heat up canned or frozen stuff, with nothing that's truly their own. Do they no longer care? After all these years, I am very disappointed. read more

It occurred to me that I have eaten more than several lunches and at least one breakfast at Sam's, yet have never reviewed it. So, here goes. It's a diner, that's not a bad word, it's a type of restaurant. If you want something fancy, Holley Falls Bar and Grill is a few hundred feet away. It's fancy. It's also expensive, but the food is not diner food. Back to Sam's. It's a diner and a really good one. Huge menu so you are sure to find something to eat. The burgers and fries are really good. For breakfast, I had an omelet that was huge and delicious. Home fries are good as well. Service is always good, with friendly faces and real personalities. It's seat yourself and they'll find you, and they always do. My buddy and I like to go to the less public room that is up two steps and usually not crowded. The only thing I can think of that could be improved is their coffee, but that's true for almost any restaurant. Fresh ground would improve the flavor if they could find the time. Getting rid of the Bunn coffee burners and buying some real coffee machines would cost some money initially, but it might give them a little more to brag about once the staff was trained in making good coffee. Can you tell I like coffee? Their mediocre coffee isn't bad enough to keep me away from the rest of what they have to offer, so they likely won't be improving it anytime soon. You should eat here. I do, and enjoy it. You could always order tea or a milkshake if you don't want to risk the coffee. read more

sam's is a small town diner and it's about what you expect. everything is solid and the waitstaff is nice. i had two sandwiches, the reuben and the patty melt. both were good and good enough. the fried zucchini however were disappointing because they were overfried. i went on a friday night for a fish fry dinner and it was gigantic and tasty, but the fish was slightly overcooked. I also prefer a lower fish-to-batter ratio (for more fried skin), and the included Kraft tartar was just bad. i didn't expect much from the tartar, but i didn't expect it to be so bad either. the included fries were cooked crisp and perfect though, and the coleslaw was coleslaw yummy. overall, pretty good. read more

DONT ORDER FISH FRY! We went here about 7 years ago and the fish fry was pretty good. I went back recently and was disappointed to see prepackaged kraft tartar sauce. They have switched to frozen fish which lacked flavor and was mushy where the meat and breading meet. I'm sure it is a financial decision but should not be sold as a western NY fish fry. My mom ordered it broiled and thought it was good. Everyone who ordered other food was happy. read more
