Fish & chips

Visited Lakeport Niagara location on 9/12/23. arrived about 5:30 PM, the place was busy, busy. there is an eat in area off to the left of the lobby entrance, but it's not much...and it is very warm in there. we were looking for a to go order, there was a special advetised, two pieces of fish, your choice, chips and cole slaw. Our order at the counter was taken by a young lady..VERY young like 10 or 12? she was making a valiant effort behind that register but naturally enough she was struggling. Had to repeat my order multiple times, as she did not seem to undersatnd I was ordering TWO 2 piece specials. Also ordered the jumbo shrimp. getting tartar sauce was, well.....challenging. i know these things cost way more than they used to, but everyone who asked for tartar sauce, seafood sauce or lemon was scrutinized like they were robbing a bank. Reciepts were demanded and studied to see if the condiments were paid for, and a long wait ensued while the requested items were found (probably had to unlock the safe) and brought up...and paid for (79 cents for tiny cups of sauce or two slices of lemon) Finally our food was ready and in the front and I made the mistake of asking for an extra tartar sauce. The bag was literally snatched from my hand and the stapled reciept studied, then the bag was placed back behind the counter and the search for the tartar ensued. when the sauce arrived back up front, was paid for, I had to ask for the actual order back. Once we arrived back home, we found our fish and shrimp to be beautifully packaged and wrapped in brown paper, rubber banded closure with a peppermint tucked on top. it was really lovely for a fast food type order, though in my opinion the mint could easily be done away with and replaced with a more relaxed sauce policy. The fish was some of the best fried haddock I have ever had, light, white, flaky, moist, flavorful, with a just right batter that was light and crispy and never overwhelmed the fish. sad to say the tiny cups of tartar suace were overheated or stale, and tasted rancid. The jumbo shrimp were also lovely large and succulent, perfectly cooked, and the seafood sauce in the packet was fine. Chips were ok, nothing really special, the quantity would have fed ten people, but I noticed this seems to be a Canada thing, overdoing and extra generous with the potatoes. I LOVE french fries or chips, but I got my fill for a lifetime after five days up there....:) The promised cole slaw that went with our specials was, sadly, missing from the bag. Overall, I am sorry we won't have the chance to return anytime soon, because I would certainly try them again...and recommend you do, too!

I'll pass the word Did not get what I ordered, called them and spoke with a very rude person! Ordered 2 pce halibut and they sent some other very much cheaper fish and was told that I dont know what I'm talking about! Have been a verylong time customer, wow!

I saw they were the best rated restaurant near the KOA on Lundy Lane. Husband got the fish n chips. 2 huge pieces 10 inches long, wouldn't fit in their box! I got jumbo shrimp ala crate and regular poutine. Big big shrimp cooked right and poutine fabulous as I can only get it once a year when I come to Canada from the U.S. 36 dollars later we had our money's worth and more. Food tasted clean, not greasy. Not too salty and CRISP! Cole slaw was okay. Definitely the best restaurant on Lundy Lane in my opinion.

I highly recommend this place. We ordered the lunch special Fish and chips and was surprised with how big the portion was and it included a can of drink. Food is delicious and the fries was amazing. Friendly and accommodating staff as well.

One of Boyfriend and I's favorite restaurants! This was our…read morefirst visit since they re-did the menu and went with itemized pricing, instead of the "five items for $85" menu they used to have. Of course it is more expensive to eat here now, but still worth it! Delicious food, especially the appetizers. We were sorry to miss our favorite, Kaileigh, but Julie was great and very patient with our table (lots of loud talking and we took forever to choose what to have, lol). TO Bestie joined Boyfriend and I for dinner and really enjoyed her first visit! We shared the goat cheese and beef tartare apps... omg... go just for the apps! Absolutely perfect. She had the chicken and I had their new mushroom pasta as mains. Very good. Boyfriend had a Caesar salad and some steak - I think it was a striploin - he didn't care that much for the steak which was a bit tough. He would definitely stick with the filet mignon next time. Great restaurant and absolutely one of the better dining options in Niagara Falls. Also 18+ so no children running around, and great atmosphere. Beautiful fireplace. All I would add is ambiance music or something (if there was any, we couldn't hear it).

AMAZING food. We got the lamb and seafood pasta along with the goat cheese and ribs appetizers…read more Couldn't ask for anything better! The service was extremely personal and Dan was the most genuine. Don't go to the tourist trap places, walk around the block and eat here. You won't be disappointed!

Stormin' Crab offers their blue crabs one of two ways: Either added as a side to any boil (topped with your favorite seasonings), or served as a fried crab basket. The oyster appetizer (sold as six or twelve) can be raw or grilled. I adore them raw, and these are Bluepoints! They were plump, glistening, and had a great sweet and briney flavor. My husband's gumbo was thick with rice and andouille sausage, with baby shrimp. It also had a powerful black pepper kick. Very tasty! The boil arrived on a stainless steel platter in a large plastic bag, ballooned out with steam. We had chosen the butter, medium spicy. I thought the saltiness overpowered the flavor of the seafood, but your mileage may vary. Combo C had so much food we took a third of it home! We really enjoyed our meal here!

Update: subtracting 1 star because my kid got sick from the oily food. Never again…read more The staff was so nice and the facility is very clean however we just didn't care for the food itself. We ordered the cajun mix for crawfish and snow crab and garlic butter snow crab. All the boils are doused full of butter flavored oil (not real butter) which didn't allow for any flavor to reach your tongue or the meat. I may be spoiled with real Louisiana and Texas crawfish and seafood boils but the oil was so unpleasant. The crawfish was oily, flavorless, and tasted dirty. The crab was probably presalted and just reheated in the boil. I asked for some cajun seasoning and salt to sprinkle on top but there was just too much oil. I am disappointed with this type of boil and hope I can find a more traditional type with no oil somewhere in Buffalo.

Love this place. Right on the pier in Dunkirk. Cool vibe in the area, very beach-town. The food…read moreand drinks reflect that, lots of seafood and umbrella drinks. But there's a good mix of other cocktails and beers too. The owner seems really nice, she was working the kitchen along with a couple other family members, good to see, especially since it was all women- love a female owned business that's doing well and doing it right. Chicken tenders were good, not great but I think they're on the menu to placate the kids coming so fair enough. The rest of the food was GREAT. We started with calamari and it was great, came with a lemon dressing already on it which was good and didn't detract from the crispiness at all. Also had lots of battered pepper rings as well, nice balance. Combo seafood basket was solid. The shrimp were great as was the haddock - all battered on site. Fries were thin and crispy. The winner though was the California Grouper sandwich which was a daily special. It was fantastic. I could have eaten two. Came on a soft roll, with slaw and bacon and avocado and I forget what else because I devoured it so quickly. I'd go back just for that sandwich. This place is definitely worth a stop if you're ever out by the lake.

I lived in Dunkirk for several years, but the changes that they have made to the pier and boardwalk are really unbelievable !!!! Shops & restaurants and this gem!! Let me be very clear in saying that there are maybe three tables inside; this is definitely a grab and go restaurant . However there is a huge patio with many many tables even if they are full, which is doubtful, you could certainly grab a spot on the boardwalk nearby . We happened to have a beautiful night and we have an event to go to at SUNY Fredonia so a friend recommended this place . We waited about 15 minutes to place our order. After ordering we enjoyed our drinks out on the patio while we waited for our food. I opted for an alcoholic beverage while my son had a virgin piña colada. Our number was called maybe 15 minutes later and we were served absolute deliciousness. My son ordered the California, which was a delicious crispy fish sandwich while I opted for an Asian chicken wrap. Our food was absolutely delicious. Served just right. The food temperature was perfect and the portions were ample . The service was wonderful. If I ever come upon a beautiful night again in Dunkirk, I will definitely be visiting this place !!!!
